In just a short couple of months, I can't believe how much I have improved. My teacher helps me set goals and has me try innovative ways to approach the keys while trying to sing at the same time. I'm not a great multitasker. :) I had always been classically trained and only really knew how to read basic sheet music and I understood music theory on paper, but hadn't really applied it on piano. Now I'm reading lead sheets and creating left hand bass lines! I always look forward to my lessons, and I can't stress enough how important this is for a beginner, intermediate or advanced student to come and improve their craft. I see people of all ages coming in and out of here, so I can assure you, that it is never too late to start an instrument, to learn something new, or improve what you are already doing! Once lessons started, he patiently worked with our son, taking him from a complete beginner to a competent drummer, able to participate in his school's advanced band. We truly appreciated his flexibility with scheduling, since our son's extracurriculars changed each season. Aaron was prompt and always polite. Our son definitely enjoyed his lessons. What we particularly liked about Aaron was how he approached teaching. Instead of sticking to just one style of music, he had our son playing many different genres of pieces - rock, jazz, classical - and learning to read the accompanying music, as well. Russ was patient as I learned basic cords. Each time I understood something he cheered me on and I felt encouraged to continue on to a more difficult chord. His little tweaks to my posture and position were immediately helpful. It was great walking away having learned something and feeling successful in just the first 30 minutes!
