I was so hungry while wining with my friend at the James River Winery and the food truck du jour was bikini Panini I was thinking to myself just another food truck until I read the menu and saw my go to when I'm not familiar with the business cuban sandwich. I ordered with no expectations. When I tried the sandwich I was blown away. Their Cuban bikini Panini really surprised me! It was piping hot, they needed no instructions on how to prepare it. Bikini Panini is on the food truck rotation at my job. They come by once or twice per month. I haven't visited often but I've had a couple delicious sandwiches from this truck. Service is also friendly and I love that they garnish the sandwich with those little tasty Utz potato sticks that I haven't otherwise eaten since the fifth grade. I've tried both the Cuban and the Italian. I can't say I liked one more than the other; both were great. I'll probably lean toward trying the Italian again next time based on the delectable olive spread, but there are some other paninis that also sound appetizing, so who knows. Bikini Panini might have a silly name, but their product is superb and reliable. Richmond is host to plenty of mobile eateries, but I'd say this is one of the elite. read more

Yum! This food truck stopped near my office today and I swung by for a quick lunch. The menu is Mediterranean inspired and features both the namesake paninis and several entrees, including paella, moussaka, and ratatouille. Everything is $8 or less, which is a great value for a hearty meal. I ordered the Bikini Basil Pesto panini and it was delicious! The Tuscan Bread was crusty but chewy, the basil pesto was on point, and the artichoke sundried tomato bruschetta paired so well with raw baby spinach, melted provolone, and roma tomato slices. You also have the choice of sliced chicken or mushrooms, so it is vegetarian friendly. All of the ingredients were fresh and flavorful, and the panini was made to order so it was piping hot. I would have been satisfied with just half the generous portion, but of course I ate every bit! The workers were very friendly and happily accommodated my request for just shoestring potato crisps as my side (pickles are evil, and I will not have them contaminating my yummy food). Ate at the truck at ARDeNt Brewery. We got the chicken pesto and the Moussaka dinner. Moussaka dinner for dinner was the size of 2 brownies in height and depth, and just shy of $9.00 Very disappointing. The flavor development was non existent. I didn't taste allspice. I didn't even taste eggplant. It tasted frozen. Something you would expect at a 7-11 or a truck stop at midnight. Avoid if at all possible. The Chicken pesto at $8.95 was better, v But the pesto was orange and it felt like a $7.00 max. It cam with potato sticks frank m a can. Again just lousy. The husband - wife duo are whip up everything fresh to order and take great pride in their delicious food as they should. My group loved the Bikini Trio which had something for everyone! Can't wait to eat it again. We had Bikini Panini cater my wife's surprise birthday party. Laura and her husband did a fantastic job, and our friends and family couldn't believe we had a food truck on site. Laura provided appetizer trays inside, and guests went outside to order food. Her husband worked the "front of the house" and was friendly with our guests while Laura worked the "back of the house" and cooked all the food, etc. These two were the nicest folks, and not only did our guests LOVE the food, but they loved Laura and her husband. They were kind, personable, and friendly. We loved hearing about their vacations all over the world (some of the inspiration for their menu items) as well as the story behind the truck. Hard to believe they are new to the food truck biz - it felt like they'd been doing it a lifetime. I can't wait to see them again at Ardent, Lickinghole Creek, or another private event. We actually contemplated going to Ardent the next night just to eat their food again. These two were 6 stars on a scale of 5. Could not have been more happy with their service, food, and price. read more
