I rang twice in the week and couldn't get to speak to a salesperson. Finally got through on Wednesday to a different salesperson and asked them to mud guard the bike. Was told that's fine. The bike was sold to someone else by Friday pick up. Hollingsworth said they'd call me back within half an hour as they tried to source the bike elsewhere. I rang back four hours later and was told sales staff were on the floor. Do not shop here.

Given that Dublin is full of grimy little bike shops that mainly do repairs and have a small…read moreselection of bikes that you can hardly see because they're so tightly packed, whereas the bigger shops in the suburbs like Eurocycles or Cycle Superstore look like they're printed off a CAD-CAM app screen with no personal touch... this place ends up being one of the best bicycle shops in Dublin. The bikes are well displayed and easy to see and try out, there's a reasonably good selection, and the owner is very knowledgeable - which counts for a lot. Nor does she try to take over your life while giving you advice - unlike other bike shop owners I have encountered in this town!

Well - a few weeks ago Sharon and myself headed into these guys to look at buying bike…read more being a newbie to the biking world it was a bit daunting but within second we were already in good hands. The guy (who I think might own the shop) who was helping us was really helpful and and entertained all our beginner questions - he even recommended bike for it to try out. With that he had two bikes down and told us to take them out for a cycle around the park across the way. so off we went. When we got back he had another two ready for us to try. In the end we tried about 3 bikes each before deciding on the ones we wanted. He also gave us a free water cage, water bottle, bike pump and spare tube! we bought a few extras like lights, locks and helmets too. The selection of bikes isn't huge but they have enough to choose from! From mountain to hybrid to road bikes! also the selection of accessories it perfect. I'll be back to these guys any time I need anything for the bike! Great service and great value.

Just went into this store to ask about having a service done. After explaining that I was leaving…read morethe country and wouldn't be back to collect my bike for a week, I was informed, with an attitude, that there was no way they could hold on to a bike for a week. As I was leaving the owner of the store saw fit to make a disparaging remark about the encounter to the customer he was serving. I went to get a quote and was met with a smug, ignorant attitude, which I have encountered from the same guy before. Obviously this man feels that it is acceptable to treat customers in this manner.

To be fair to them, once you get inside, tis a different story altogether. It's a fairly big warehouse space full of all types of wheels, and a separate section dedicated to cycle accessories and clothes. To be honest though, it's not that good. I don't know much about bikes, but the selection seemed to be heavily based on men's racers and mountain bikes. Not much in the way of women's or alternatives like fixies or hybrids. My main gripe though was that I must have been there for 15 mins, wandering round, wanting to part with my hard earned cash, but not knowing where to begin. In all that time, ain't no one came over and chatted with me or asked if they could help. In the end, I gave up and left. Customer service is key folks! You can have all the annoying jingle ads in the world to get people to your shop, but if you can't help em when they're there, well what's the point!!!

Two days the same person rang me back and said they couldn't fix my bike because he was told they don't have the room or the facilities to fix my bike, strange because it has bike repairs and bike service on the sign and it's not as if I was handing in a Boeing 747. I went up and asked him what they couldn't do it and he said because it was a different bike to what they sold they won't do it...it's a standard bike, nothing special, it just needed a nut and bolt. So I walked out and brought it somewhere else, told them the story, they laughed, fixed my bike on the spot and gave it back to me that day. I probably won't go back there, thanks for nothing

I never heard back from them and I never did get my order. I contacted Halfords again and this time received no reply. This place is about as useful as a solar-powered torch.

Bought a Cannondale Trail for €600 .After a few weeks it developed a knocking noise in the front…read moreshocks. Was told it was on the wrong settings and its fixed now.....it wasn't ! This time they offered to rebuild the shock....it was fine about a month then then knocking returned, returned to shop again. This time they said they would return the shock to Cannondale under warranty ,this would take two weeks, (a well I'm finally getting it fixed) . After a week they ring me and tell me there's nothing wrong with the bike and it won't be going to Cannondale to be fixed. At this stage I have the bike 8 months, and yes there is marks on it from being used. The manager tells me he can't give me a refund as there's marks on the fram. So it looks like I'm stuck with it. So this is my experience with cycle superstore, I certainly would not recommend them.

Djouce wood is an extensive area of forest managed by Coillte and bordered to the south west by…read moreDjouce mountain close to Dublin in the Wicklow mountains. The wood is a mix of forest roads, trails and paths laid out and useable by walkers and mountain bikers alike. The area was once part of the Powerscourt Estate. The trails in the forest offer excellent views over the River Dargle valley to the Powersourt Waterfall which is the highest waterfall in Ireland and to Djouce Mountain (725m). The area has many other great walking trails including accessing the mountain area of Djouce, War Hill, White Hill and Maulin. It also gives access to the Wicklow way heading north through Crone and Lackan or south to Ballinastoe. There are two specific trails in Djouce wood, the red (Deerpark) and the blue trail. The red trail is approximately 3 hours long and deemed a moderate level walk. It's along mostly forest paths and a few forest roads. It can be quite wet, muddy, and open to the elements so this trail is best approached with appropriate wet gear and walking shoes or boots. The blue trail at one and a half hours is an easier route on drier woodland trails which wouldn't require the same level of dressing for the weather and environment. The carpark is well maintained and at the moment is open until 4pm in the afternoon. Coillte's website www.coillteoutdoors.ie provides driving directions and maps of the trails available in this wood.
