After the Race for the Cure, we changed into some green and were off to the Taglyan Cultural Complex for some pre-St.Patty's day celebrating! Free parking outside (thanks for holding a spot for us, Mike) started the afternoon off right!
We got there early, explored the area, then started to drink! I'm not a beer person, so I stuck with wine, but there sure was a lot of booze for those interested. Irish whiskey, organic liquor, vodka, oh yeah, did I mention all the beer? I even tried some orange flavored beer!
There were several food vendors as well; I finally tried a Pink's veggie dog (it was decent, but I wouldn't wait in line- sorry Pink's fans!). There were some awesome drunken Irish balls. I think those were my favorite of the afternoon!
I could write a lot about this event, because there was so much going on, from the semi-band-assisted-karaoke to the bagpipes and dancers, but what really matters is that this was a cool event with proceeds going to the Children's Tumor Foundation. So it was fun for a good cause for those who bought their tickets (I was lucky enough to get free entry, yay!).
I was impressed with the location; I was kind of expecting an outside beer fest, but it was a nicely put together event in a nice complex. There were things going on outside (live band, cigars and Asahi) as well as inside (stage, food, drinks and more). There were employees walking around, collecting trash, etc all day. They kept the area really clean, especially for such a large area filled with drunken celebration.
