I even was able to pickup my stuff at the start line before the race, jump on a return shuttle and put it in the car, and come back before the start of the race.

Yayoi Kusama's Infinity Mirrored Room - May 2016 - my obligatory, albeit blurry, pic :)

This installation of Yayoi Kusama's Infinity Mirror Room - "The Souls of Millions of Light Years…read moreAway" is located at The Broad in Los Angeles. Tickets are FREE. To visit, you will need to reserve tickets to The Broad's general admission AND the Infinity Mirrored Room exhibit. I feel like if you're already going to The Broad you should also visit the Infinity Mirrored Room. I might be biased since I enjoy taking photos. The tricky thing is that the reservations for the Infinity Mirrored Room are released on the last Wednesdays of each month at 10am for the following month OR you have to keep an eye out for openings the day prior. They are currently not taking same day reservations. The reservations are time specific, but there will still be a 15-20 minute line. You can get in line 10-15 minute prior to your window slot and staff will probably not give you too hard of a time. You are expected to go in together with your group, unless you make reservations separately. If you want to go in alone for that selfie, you should make your own reservation. The maximum group size to enter together is 4 people. Any children under 13 must enter with an adult. Obviously, my boyfriend was dragged to go with me. Before our visit, I was researching what poses to do since the time is so limited. And then when we were in line I gave him a quick run down of the plan. It worked out nicely and we were able to take a few photos, a quick video and still had a few seconds to actually enjoy the art installation beyond the selfie taking purposes. This experience was very special for me. I think the careful planning and taking feedback from others allowed me to enjoy my visit. One minute can go by quick if you wait to get inside the room to coordinate your poses. And coming with someone I care about makes it even more memorable.

No complaints about the actual experience itself, it's beautiful and definitely Instagram-worthy. BUT. That wait vs. payoff ratio? Wild. You're standing there forever, building up the moment, just to get ushered in and out in what feels like 60 seconds flat. By the time you're adjusting your camera and telling your family where to stand, it's already "okay time's up." Like... we just got here?? Honestly, I'd rather they charge more and give people a few extra minutes. Let us actually take it in, enjoy it, and get decent photos without feeling rushed like we're on some kind of aesthetic speed run. That said, it is a must-see at least once. Just go in knowing it's more of a quick visual experience than something you can really sit with.

It is not the oldest restaurant there, but it is great. The shops are fun and have cool gifts from Mexico. I would have liked to see even more stores. I did hear it is a great place to be on the weekends with lots of singing and dancing. I would recommend going on one of those days for an elevated experience.

It makes it so much easier when you don't want to commit to just one type of food. I walked around for a bit before deciding what to get, and everything looked fresh and tempting. It's the kind of place where you can try something new every time you come back. Also great if you're with friends and everyone has different cravings. The overall vibe is lively but still comfortable, not too chaotic. It felt easy to just grab food and sit down without any stress. I'd definitely come back here when I want variety and a casual food experience without overthinking it.

Lot of vendors that have a history with the greater LA area, so it avoids the gradual rise of gentrification which can occur with most food halls and markets in the U.S. I like the open air concept where you can just chill inside or outside and enjoy some good food or brews. You could easily hang out here for several hours, but I had a busy day so that couldn't happen for me. Because I was walking distance, it was a must visit. Not sure if I'd drive into here, but do visit if you can get there via public transport.

Honestly, feels a bit safer to walk around here too, even at night. Though, that might be due to the sadly huge amount of gentrification that has happened, closing down lots of mom and pop shops and places that are historic to the area or of cultural relevance. Truly a sign of the times. I have some fond memories here, like getting my ears pierced and one of them turning out to be crooked, my grandpa telling me he got me a Poke'mon wall scroll only to find out that it's actually an Neon Genesis Evangelion one (infinitely better), getting bootleg Poke'mon, Digimon, and Sailor Moon goods here, various trips with my family, going to the doctor here with my grandfather and getting the custard dim sum melon pan after and much more. Lately, the only other times I've been here have been in the evening and night with friends but some vendors are still open and Amboy and other businesses are too, so there's still stuff to do, but I'd like to come back again in the middle of the day to visit some of the childhood shopping alleys of my memory.
