Alhambra Farmer's Market is on my list to check out in the near future. It is centrally located in Los Angeles County, and is the gateway to the west side of the San Gabriel Valley. It is known for its fusion of great tastes, fun entertainment plus electrifying sights and sounds that screams diversity in culture, creativity for arts, and community spirits in togetherness. A good mix of great restaurants, modern retail shops, unique boutiques, specialty cafes, entertainment venues, and local businesses are situated around a one-mile radius (about 6-7 blocks) around Main Street between Garfield Ave and Atlantic Blvd. Perfect destination for food and entertainment lovers looking to explore, taste, and connect. I was here recently and I can't get enough of this cool and vibing space. It has so much to offer. I will have to return on many more occasions to cover most of this area. Can't wait! Another great year of Movies and most of all Concerts in the park. For those who have never…read moreattended this venue, your really missing out on a free community event for all. What better way to enjoy the different music venue's here in the city of Woodland Hills. I personalty have been attending these concerts for about 20 years and every year they get better. Sure many cites do have Concerts in or around different area's of Southern California,maybe this is 1 of the reason's we all live here. Music for all ages. Plenty of different food vendors and local merchants who sponsor the different concerts and movies in the park. Clean park and clean restrooms. A couple of important things. First is parking can be an issue,however there is parking available for $10.00 across the street and all monies go back into this event. Second there are no open fries allowed,no BBQ's, and sorry to say Alcohol is not allowed. There is an area here in the park for you to enjoy a cold glass of beer,but must drink it in the designated area. I was really excited to hear about a Guatemalan festival in LA. And to hear that it was on it's…read moretenth year, my expectations were pretty high. The good, I really enjoyed that they had Guatemalan musical artists on two different stages. The environment really felt lively. They also had plenty of restrooms. The not so good: 1. it took me a while to figure out the address and time of the festival. Not all their publications had all information. You could find some information on Facebook but their Instagram had no recent activity. 2. It would be nice if they give some advice on parking beforehand. Sadly, garages nearby took advantage and gouged people. We paid $25 at a nearby parking garage. 3. All the food stands pretty much had the same food. I was expecting to see so much variety. But there wasn't. 4. There weren't any recycling containers and some areas didn't have trash containers. The bathrooms near one of the stages had a pile of trash outside. 5. I was hoping to buy a doll and I didn't find any. The vendors only had clothing and bags. 6. And the one thing that really bothered me, the beer garden had NO Guatemalan beer. We decided to go to the Guatemalan Night Market that was a couple of blocks away. There seemed to be more variety of food there, Guatemalan restaurants and shops.

Public Art Sculpture of The Culver Family…read more Harry Hazel Culver was the founder of Culver City. This sculpture is in honor of him. It is located in the Town Plaza where The Lion's Fountain is and just outside of The Culver Hotel. This is in a public area, open 24/7 and it's free. You just need to find parking, which may not be free. This sculpture is pretty much in the same area as The Culver Steps. This art was commissioned by the City of Culver City. It is a bronze sculpture of Harry Culver sitting on a bench perusing a newspaper dated September 20, 1917. Harry is the founder of Culver City and the paper announces the incorporation of this new city by the State of California. His wife, Lillian, is holding their daughter Patricia. Lillian is looking at the paper over Harry's shoulder. Fun Fact: The newspaper is a copper replica of the real one! His 1913 Speech is on the inside of his newspaper. The sculptor is De L'Esprie (Delesprie), Sculpture is cast by David Spellerberg at Great American Bronze Works, Inc. foundry. This artwork is part of the city's "Art in Public Places" program. It was placed here in 2006 when Culver City was 88 years old! You can come take a seat on the bench next to Mr. Culver any time!

They served delicious mocktails to the kids and adults. She worked quickly, so the line was never long, however a lot of people were getting a lot of drinks and raved about how delicious they were! I wouldn't hesitate to use them for any party. The camper was really cute, and they were so on top of things. This was a huge win. We also attended a party for adults the week before where they served cocktails which were also delicious, and everybody loved how adorable the camper looked. From 40 people to over 200 people, they handled the crowds with ease, were incredibly reliable, friendly, didn't run out of anything, super organized. I cannot say enough good things about them!

All ages are welcome here! Bring your own blanket or chair to this community yearly event held all summer long on Saturdays & Sunday's. Check the calendar valleycultural.org to see what shows you might be interested in seeing. They mostly have tribute cover bands but they also top name acts. I just saw the classic Motown group The Mighty Temptations who were great. They have a covered parking structure across the street - $15 to park but it benefits the valley cultural organization & helps to pay for the concerts & movies. Bring your own cooler or they also have food vendors. I purchased a gourmet organic grass fed burger from Market Burgers & it was DELICIOUS!!! This is the kind of burger you would see @ top sit down restaurant - not a concession stand @ a concert $10 -$12. If you LOVE burgers then you've got to try this place. It's AWESOME! Market Burgers serve some of the BEST BURGERS in SOCAL! Market Burgers also has veggie burgers & fries too. They also have Brain Freeze Italian Ice, tacos, fudge, pizza, ice cream & many others. Come spend an enjoyable few hours & have some great free entertainment movies & concerts at this community event. Glenn Edwards Mighty Temptations put on a good show and still got those famous classic Motown dance moves. They sang a lot of their hits. My Girl, Ball of Confusion, Just My Imagination, I Can't Get Next to You, I Know I'm Loosing You, Papa Was a Rolling Stone, Cloud Nine The Way You do the Things You Do & many others. They did a tribute to Smokey Robinson & former members of the Temps. Shout out to one of the Beach Boys who they are on tour with in Virginia this month, Sherrie Payne from the Supremes & Freda Payne (Band of Gold) sister., and some of the former Temptations sons who have their own group called Sons of Motown. One of the Temps members was formerly in the Platters Only You! At the end of the concert with all the Insanity that's going on in the world they asked everybody to give someone you don't know a hug & say I love you and the whole audience did it. I paid a lot of money ($2,500 to be exact) to participate as a vendor at Warner Center Park for the…read moreValley Cultural Center's Concerts on the Green for the Summer 2012 season. The $2,500 buy in was a HUGE hit for me as a small business owner; I took a big leap of faith when I signed on. If you are a food vendor that has been approached and might be considering participating for future seasons, run--far and fast! Here's why: 1. I was promised by Bob Austin that I would be one of only 5 dessert vendors the whole season. The dessert vendors were all on 'dessert row,' separated from the savory food vendors. No one told me there would also be Italian Brain Freeze, Funnel Cakes and Kettle Corn in the section with the savory food. These products all compete for dessert dollars. I'm sure you can also see how completely unfair it is for those products to be placed in the same section as the savory food, so everyone sees only those vendors when they go to purchase their dinner. And then return to those vendors when they are ready for dessert. In fact on July 4th, a large group of people walked by my booth, all carrying funnel cakes, and commented on how they didn't know there were other desserts on site. Completely unfair to the rest of us in dessert row. 2. The vendors were told that the weeks leading up to July 4th were a bit sleepy, but if we hadn't already made back our initial investment by the 4th, that was the day it would happen. It was also strongly advised that we bring at least 3 times more product than we had been bringing prior to July 4th, because everyone sells out on July 4th. I had high hopes for July 4th, especially after hearing that there would be 24,000 + people in the park, all of the food vendors sell out, and this event is the one that helps all of the vendors re-coup their initial investment. I didn't sell out nor did I re-coup my initial investment. I grossed $750 that day; after expenses and paying an employee to work with me that day, I lost. 3. The savory food vendors--two barbecue vendors were booked for the summer. Classic! 4. The plain and simple truth is that there are just too many food vendors per the ratio of people that come for the concerts in the park seeking dining options. Yes, a lot of people flock to the park for the concerts, this much is true. However most of them don't buy dinner and desserts at the park. 5. The organization does a prerecorded introduction thanking its sponsors and food vendors that gets used the whole summer. My company name got botched--recorded incorrectly. No one bothered double checking their work before it was considered final, nor was I aware that this component was being developed. Had I known, I might have been proactive to ensure that my business/brand was represented correctly. 5. This group has been planning and executing this program for 38 years. They know what works and what doesn't work out there. It's a well-oiled machine, and they just want your money so that they can continue to bring in the bands. The sad thing is they will do and say anything to get you to sign on the dotted line. I can't emphasize enough--DON'T DO IT! Save your time, money and resources. When I think about the trust I placed in the Valley Cultural Center, and the leap of faith I took, it brings tears to my eyes. I did ask the Valley Cultural Center for some of my investment back, and this is the response that I got: Dear Tonya, Thank you for your email. We are sorry you did not have a good experience at Valley Cultural Center's Concerts on the Green. We can not guarantee what will sell well. We are upfront on that fact. None of us can predict that. Often vendors do well on July 4th. That too is no guarantee. Some sell out. Some do not. It sounds like you did all you could with Facebook, Twitter and Email campaigns. We apologize if you feel there was some inaccurate information given to you at the time of securing your place at Concerts on the Green. We will look into that. There was no intent of misleading you. We want all the vendors to do well. Some of the vendors have been with us for many years. Some only come for a year or two. Some join forces with another vendor they know and share a booth. It is a business decision each individual makes. We understand that you question your choice about participating with us since it did not go as well for you as you had hoped. It is not that we are untrustworthy. It's just the nature of the economy and the risk any business operator takes. Unfortunately it didn't work out to your level of expectation and desire. We would like to have seen you succeed too. We are a non profit 501 (c) 3. We operate on a fairly tight budget each year, and the recent economy has made that even tighter. This is a quiet, clean, classy neighborhood found along Sunset Blvd. I have some buddies that live…read morehere, so I come by here periodically. I also used to work in this city during undergrad. This town is not for those who seek to live in modest means. It is pricey to live here, but I find the prices well worth it. The people in this town are awesome, and it's a very family friendly place. The main artery to this town is Sunset Blvd as it goes from the 405 to PCH. The roads here are windy, and go up the mountain into neighborhoods full of stately residences. Two security firms operate here: Palisades Patrol and ACS security. The sights here are amazing. There is an overlook you can reach by taking El Medio. You will get a good sight of the Pacific Ocean, PCH, and the beach below. It's a nice place to stop by for a breather during the day, and also a good place to take a date at night. A great hiking trail begins at Temescal Canyon park, and extends though the Santa Monica mountains and into the valley. This trail, when taken in its entirety, is a good 8 hour hike. You will cross through some mountain bike trails as well. A plethora of celebrities live or have lived here. I have associated with some of them when I used to work in this town. A great town. Keep it classy.

Sitting inside, looking at the fog moving in from the Pacific, reminded both of us of the Richmond / Sunset districts in San Francisco on outer Geary. Something about the era of the buildings, the numerous telephone / power poles, and that fog (!); it all fit with our memories of our childhood haunts in The City. That being said, I'm aware there is much more to the Palisades than that time warp impression. From a drive-through visitor's perspective, it has an old school charm. Having to pay for parking on a Saturday in a small town area is somewhat annoying. Traffic can be a slow crawl through the area, and what on earth will it be like when the new Caruso development is done? Wow! Loved the mural we could see from the Starbucks, looking to the south. It added a beachy vibe to the area which surely is married to it's ocean-proximity.
