As such, I feel well qualified to talk about how amazing Viva is! Song finding system: the Viva system is easier than most, and made it simple to find what we liked. Easy to move things around on the queue. Location: easy access, safe location for arrival. Private rooms: this is where Viva absolutely shone. Private rooms are obviously critical. However, at most karaoke places, it's challenging to get in and out of the bench seating to get up to sing. Not at Viva! The bench was long, with space to get in and out, while still having table access and plenty of water. It's hard to say how much this improved the experience. Service: there's a button to press for service, and they show up and take care of whatever you need. Drinks: many of us find that karaoke requires alcohol lubrication. That means the drink quality really matters. The drinks were fab!

Walking in, it's cute, nicely decorated, and cozy! We were quickly greeted and then sat. We were there for my birthday and when our server walked up, she had two glasses of bubbles, which was a very nice surprise and wish me a happy birthday! The menu is loaded with many appetizing options and the food we saw on nearby tables helped us confirm that they know what they're doing in the kitchen here! We started by splitting a bowl of clam chowder. Our server had this brought out in two bowls, even though it was a split and it looked fantastic! The first taste was great! I loved the essence of bacon and smokiness in that spoonful. The potato's texture was great, soft, and not over-cooked, but loaded with flavor! The thickness of the chowder's soup was exactly what I expect from a traditional New England Clam Chowder. Definitely one I enjoyed! Next up was the swordfish for my wife and the pappardelle for me. Both looked amazing when they came out. Wife said her swordfish was one of the best she's ever had. It surely looked outstanding! My pasta was incredible! A very rich bolognese, which was clearly stewed down and was amazing! The whipped ricotta on top when mixed in helped make it creamy too - definitely amazing!! I was stuffed from what we enjoyed so we couldn't stay for dessert, but we did love everything we had. Service was great and friendly too. Definitely would return!

We had a 7:15 reservation on a Friday night. We arrived at 7:05, and the restaurant was FULL. The hostess greeted us and told us our table was being prepared. I am happy to say we were seated on time at a beautiful table for 4. The decor and atmosphere were really beautiful. It had a strong neighborhood feel that is remarkably unique. Our server introduced herself and took our drink order. My wife had a tropical Negroni, and I ordered a Vieux Carré. The drinks were generously sized and well made. We ordered our meals. We started with Burrata Toast and Oysters Rockefeller. The oysters were placed on a covered plate to contain the smoke. The presentation was only eclipsed by the oysters' flavor. The burrata toast was large enough to share between the four of us. The presentation was also beautiful, and the flavors were superb. Our entrees included: herb-crusted halibut, steak frites, the signature 1928 burger, and a gorgeous short rib with some fabulous crispy Brussels sprouts. We shared a single Sticky coffee pudding for dessert. All I can say is that the food and libations were superb, and the service was superb. It is not inexpensive, but no more so than any upscale restaurant in Boston. I would take the few recent negative reviews with a grain of salt. I have spent more and received less at a couple of spots in Boston. We will certainly return to 1928. I would love to try eating at the bar on our next visit.

The Wig Shop was on the list... what a coincidence we were just going to be there. So, obviously, we made it a point to check it out. It was very last minute, so we had no reservations, but we checked opening hours and were there almost on the dot. Thankfully we were able to get in. The way they are setup is that if you are a party of 2, they sit you with another "couple" to maximize space. This is fun, it makes you have conversations with strangers that for the time you are there become "friends". Hopefully you have the same good experience we did and not have anti-social people in front of you. The drinks are fun and strong, and they have a full bar for those who want something more classic or have a drink of choice. They also have food, which looked really good.

I got the extra dirty martini, which was really smooth, and I thought the drinks were reasonably priced. Our server was nice, although there were a few awkward moments throughout the night. We ordered ice cream and a cookie, and he told us they were out of spoons -- and it wasn't even 10 PM yet Initially, I thought it was a joke, but he was not joking, so we ended up eating the ice cream with forks. The table setup was also a little awkward. Some of our friends were sitting across from us on the couch, and it was pretty difficult to hear and have a conversation with them.

But was renamed to Cheers in 2002 after the exterior was used in the TV show. We rode the Old Town Trolley and this was one of the stops. We got off the bus at roughly 10:45 AM, and there was a line to the street corner of folks waiting to get in as it didn't open until 11:00. We got in shortly after the doors opened and found a seat at the bar downstairs. I had a 20 oz blueberry hefeweizen. It was refreshing and yummy! Lisa took great care of us. She was the only bartender and did an excellent job serving the crowd! The upstairs bar is a smaller replica of the bar on the show. There were lots of photo opportunities upstairs as they had a huge wall mural with all the Cheers characters as well as other lifesize cutouts outside the gift shop. If you grew up watching Cheers like me I highly recommend you stop by for a cold one and say hi to Norm for me;)

But…read moreafter a long walk around Boston, we ended up on the steps of the Cheers, my boyfriend and I looked at each other and said why not. It was a chilly evening right at the beginning of fall so we wanted something cozy to warm up in. I actually didn't realize the replica bar upstairs wouldn't be open, although I think sometimes it is because I've seen pictures where there's people sitting in it, but I think mostly they use it for show. We saw people coming from downstairs so we decided to check it out. When we got inside the place was packed. The bar had no seats whatsoever so we stood by the countertop right behind the bar. We got a downeast hard cider on draft, which was really good. Luckily seats opened up at the counter. The bartender let us know that we could purchase the mugs if we wanted to bring them home. I decided not to as we were walking and taking the train home, but I might come back to get one so I can have the memorabilia. The downstairs bar is very cozy. It's sort of centers the room and around it our tables where you could eat at. I overhead the staff say the tables are just for food and drink -- I think because it's so busy. When you continue on past the bar, you get to a mini gift shop right before the bathrooms, they also had name tags where you could write your name on, which was cool. My boyfriend surprised me with a magnet because he knows I collect them, which was cute. Next to the bathrooms are stairs to go visit the replica bar from the show. This is also where they have the main gift shop with plenty of things you could take home, including shirts, sweatshirts, mugs, magnets, and other cool stuff too. Honestly working in the hospitality industry I will recommend this bar to tourists and to locals. Even though it is very touristy, there is quality behind it so it works well. I will be back to try a cuppa chowder!
