They have both native and exotic plants I walked around a bit and was impressed with the number and variety of plants they sell. They had a large selection of orchids and enough bamboo for a forest. They also sell pottery. My favorite item was the plant holders made out of tires. They have a cute little waterfall area and fish pond and there were some monk parakeets chattering away in a cage. Eager sales people were waiting around every corner eager to assist and give advice. If you have a large project they offer delivery. I really enjoyed my visit. I'm still in the planning stages of my garden project but when I'm ready to plant I'll be back.

Be advised... you'll drive into a residential community, which may be confusing, but keep going. D has a massive lot with all types of healthy looking fruit trees at various ages. He was able to teach us about best practices for placement and care of our new avocado tree, and was also able to answer our questions about the vision for our yard. After reading great reviews, I decided to pay Richard Lyons Nursery a visit and was glad I did. The property is a little tricky to find and from the street doesn't look that big, but once you enter, you will see the outside looks are deceiving. This place is packed with all sorts of ornamentals, fruit trees and other types of plants. After choosing several plants and having the sales ticket written up, I was very pleasantly surprised to see that it was only $40. Had I gone to another place in Kendall or a major retailer, I would have paid much more. I will definitely be back for more.

We first discovered Lyons in our search for rare Atala butterflies to augment the population at our house... the folks at Montgomery botanical center had recently brought a population of Atala caterpillars to feed on Lyons sizable coontie selection. We were lucky to get a coontie with freshly laid eggs... that was in late September, and they emerged from their cocoons today (late October). They have a wonderful selection of butterfly larval and nectar plants. They have both local and exotic plants also including bamboo, heliconia, and more. When you arrive, park a short way in... a siren will announce your presence, and you'll soon be met by a guide in a golf cart. We've been four times so far, and each time we go we've discovered a new area, and new plants. As you wander around, make sure you look at the amazing mature specimens that dot the property.... such an amazing variety... it rivals a botanical garden!

Walking into the property is a true Zen experience with a water fountain and pure tranquil feeling. If I did not know better, I would think this is a wedding venue! Further inside, endless orchids are signed and displayed. There are literally thousands! I was looking for full sun tolerant, so my mission was a bit more difficult. An employee welcomed me and immediately assisted She called over another employee who showed me what would fare best. I needed a few very small orchids. I ended up selecting 3 at $10 each. I will say almost all orchids here are pricey. I'm not good with knowing rarity, but some were $75+. They also had a big selection of beautiful indoor ones at $10 & $15 each. If you are into orchids, this is definitely your destination!

Not only is the staff following proper protocol during COVID-19, but they're kind and willing to give you a free tour. The gentleman who attended us was so friendly, but more so, he was instructive and we even learned that a particular flower had chocolate smells coming from it in the morning. Also, we learned how some orchids got their unnatural color. Specifically the blue orchid I fell in love with. I'd probably have bought one, but everything I touch dies. I don't have a green thumb whatsoever. I would, however, happily buy one for a loved one should the occasion arise.
