At the Lighthouse Garden Center, not only do you get a wide assortment of well-taken care of plants, bushes and flowers to choose from, but a relaxing zen-like experience, walking through the grounds. I enjoy going to Homestead for the quite and peaceful strolls in the nurseries there. It's great to not have to go so far for that. Stephanie and her mom (owners) are a pleasure to chat with and very helpful when one is not certain which plants to choose from. I ended up with a variety of bougainvillea for the front of the house and ivy for the sides. I also purchased a couple of "bleeding hearts" for a trellis as well. The plants handled the transition really well. The grounds are meticulously taken care of and neat. The prices are equivalent to Homestead and a million times better than Home-Depot. The purchases I made ranged from $3.50, $7.50 and $15ish Bouganvilleas. The covered areas with palms and Bromeliads is spacious, neat and well-groomed. There is also an area with a beautiful assortment of garden statues, pottery and bird feeders. This area feels like someone's big front porch or yard. A really nice touch. I just now recall buying a Japanese pagoda and a Budha there years ago(which I still have). All this while listening to low-spa-like chill music. Who needs a therapist? Do yourself a favor, and avoid places like the Home Depot. Visit the Lighthouse Garden Center, and have a friendly chat with experts who know how to make a space look awesome. I went to this place to surprise my sister by getting something for her balcony. First time buying things like this, and had no idea what I was doing. Thank God I met Stephanie. She was kind, helpful, and (crucially) patient while we looked around the entire lot. It's huge, there are types of plants for everything. I let her know what I liked and what I didn't. We grabbed a few plants and simulated how they'd look on the balcony. After we settled on the plants, we picked up some cool pots and gravel, and loaded everything in the car. I was there for about thirty to forty-five minutes, and left knowing that I went to the right place. Keep up the great work, you guys are amazing. read more

DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM THIS DISGUSTING ESTABLISHMENT! I bought 5 lush, beautiful bougainvilleas 2 weeks ago...planted, fertilized, watered and now DEAD! Went to speak to the owner who I knew had terrible customer service but thought, "the plants are dead, and a bougainvillea for that matter which is the easiest plant." Nothing. Even after showing her pictures and comparing them to the other bougainvilleas from another nursery planted at the same time, I was a called a liar and told no refunds or returns. If I wanted new (crappy) plants I had to bring them back in the same pot they came in. Newsflash lady, I planted them and threw away your crappy pot. She proceeds to grab my husbands arm and drag them to see her alive bougainvilleas. When I tried to explain my situation again her assistant was yelling obscenities in Spanish and we left. Told other customers not to buy plants here because they die in 2 weeks!! Go down the street to Cubalibre nursery. Better quality and customer service. A wonderful on-going experience. This family owned establishment is by far one of the most customer-oriented businesses we have utilized. The quality of plants, resources, accommodation, advice and patience is what you want to find when you know so little about that which is a property enhancement. We not only purchased plants at a fair competitive price but went on to secure their services for planting and landscaping. The service was punctual, dependable and attentive to detail. You know they care when we got a call the following day making sure that we were following instructions for care of the plants as they became acclimated. The initial purchase has now become three separate projects because of our satisfaction. If it were possible, Lighthouse would be our choice for routine yard maintenance. read more

We try to talk to the owner and the lady had no interest on helping other than trying to get advantage of the situation to make more money. Horrible attitude from the owner. The good folks at Lighthouse Garden Center worked miracles in my neighbors backyard. The property sloped down sharply, about a 10 foot drop over a 50 foot area. They had to build it up and level it. They could not get heavy equipment back there so they had to carry and wheel barrel in the materials. Extremely physical and difficult. in the end the backyard is now level, green and beautifully landscaped. More remarkably, they did the work so quietly that I was not disturbed in the least. I was informed on the proper steps to take in order for my plants to survive, how much they should be watered and how much sunlight exposure was just enough.
