Be aware all consumers! Do not go to this resort without checking Groupon or calling for a promotion. My mother and I were unfortunately ripped off, and I would not like for anyone else to be in the position we were. We should have known this place was bad news from a week before we arrived. We called to pay our balance, and not even an hour later a Groupon deal was posted. We called to see what could be done for us and we were put through to the manager Jackie. She was unhelpful, unaware, and uncommunicative. We explained our situation and she said should could not adjust for us since Groupon is a third party vendor but she would take our issue to someone higher up (which, by the way, she would not disclose the name of the person she was taking this issue to) and said she would call us back. It took her FOUR days to call us back, despite the fact that our trip was scheduled for the very next week. She calls and says the best she can do is upgrade our room. We are understanding people and left it at that. Groupon is a third party, that's fine and well, there is nothing that can be done. We get to the resort the first night and at the dinner table with other guests we find out they paid around ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS LESS than my mother an I, so together that is over TWO THOUSAND DOLLARS less than what my mother and I paid. To make matters worse, this promotion was THROUGH the OWN RESORT, meaning they should have been able to give us this price adjustment. However, they did not. This promotion is called Spring Fling, in case the reader is wondering. Then to even further our aggravation we find out that those who PAID LESS THAN US THROUGH SPRING FLING also received a free massage, meeting with a personal trainer, and a nutritionist. On Monday we go to Jackie to renew our complain; how is it fair that we paid 1,000 dollars EACH more than those using the Spring Fling promotion which is through the Biggest Loser, not a third party, and we were not being offered any of these perks? A day went by and we did not hear back from Jackie. Then came Wednesday. We had to actively seek her out to get an answer. Once again she said she had sent this message to a "higher up" that she once again refused to answer who this person is. Thursday we have to once again seek her out and have her tell us what is going on. She says that she still has no answer because the higher up has not gotten back to her. I take a business card from the desk which names Kathy as the president. I ask to speak with her, and Jackie replied with "she is the higher up I have been talking about." This irritated me like no other. Why was she withholding this information from us for so long? Long story short, we had a meeting with Kathy today. She is the President and COO of the resort. She was unhelpful, lacked empathy and understanding, and was extremely unaccommodating. She said there was nothing she could do, our "room upgrades had value," and there were no price adjustments or credits she could give. No matter how many times I asked, she was unable to explain why she was unable to do these price adjustments or credits. I thought "You are the COO, you are certainly able to do this". I showed her a previous review that a poster wrote on TripAdvisor about how he was deceived and was given credit, and asked why she was not able to give us this adjustment. She merely replied "there are things you do not know about that situation, we are talking about your situation." As being the ONLY TWO PEOPLE in our group of 40 whom did not seem to be here through Groupon, Spring Fling, or some other type of adjustment, it was made clear to us that we were the only full paying clients. You would think that us, full payers, should have at least been offered the same perks as the Spring Fling guests, as they paid less than us and received the aforementioned perks. Instead, we were left taken advantage of. That being said, the trainers are indeed fabulous and the food is great. Unfortunately, the management and administration are incompetent, rude, and overall awful. This has ruined our experience and I will make sure to spread the word of how we were treated. No one deserves to be taken advantage of as my mother and I were.
Update: After talking to Kathy on Friday, she said she would "see if she could do anything." Instead of having the decency to talk to us face to face she left a note at the front desk for us saying the only thing she could give my mother and I was a joint nutritionist meeting at 6:30 PM on Saturday. We are scheduled to check out on 1:30 PM on Saturday, which they are well aware of. Obviously, we will not be able to make the appointment. If she had gotten back to us Monday when we originally brought this to her attention instead of putting this all off until the day before we leave, perhaps we could have taken advantage of a joint appointment. Instead she purposefully put this off until the last minute. read more
