Aldi feels like a cross between a supermarket and a minimart. They have smaller stores, less brand…read morevariety, but usually well stocked with the essentials. I have found their meats to be very fresh. With some other supermarket meat sections, they will dye the meats with fresh blood and dyes and then rewrap the meat with a new expiration date. There are consumer report videos on Youtube that describe and show the practice from CNBC and CBC. But so far I have not experience that same practice with Aldi. You can easily tell a supermarket store does this when you cut the meat and noticed the color of the meat inside is significantly darker, or browner than the surface. With Aldi, I have not experienced that at all so I trust them more. Their ground beef and other meats have a uniformed color inside and the surface. My experience with their produce has also been positive. The downside to Aldi is that they might not stock a favorite brand. For me, I am very particular about the flavored coffee creamer I like and they don't carry it. But they do have generic coffee creamers. Not a big deal because megastores like BJs Club don't carry every brand or product line either. Aldi doesn't carry hot foods to take out. They don't have an onside kitchen to prep these kinds of foods. So I'll find I will still have to go up the road to S&S and pick up a ready-made roaster for dinner. As for this particular location. The store is very clean. Aisles are neat and orderly. Boxes of goods are cut open and place directly on the shelves making the stocking of the shelves very efficient and fast. The parking lot is large with plenty of parking. Aldi is also a no-frills low-cost store so do expect to deposit a quarter to borrow one of their shopping carts. It saves them from having to hire someone to round up the carts from the lot like other supermarket do. You get the quarter back after you return the cart. You also don't have to worry about runaway carts dinging your car. Bring your own shopping bags because their plastic bags do cost money. Sometimes the check out lines are long because they might have only two cashiers. But most of the cashiers work very quickly to get you through the door. Aldi is to me a good place to get the basics at a lower cost, but they don't replace your traditional supermarket. They supplement it. I am sure some products can be purchased cheaper during a sale but if you are like me and you don't have time to look through supermarket circulars, this is a good place to get a fair price, even if it isn't the absolute cheapest. My advice, shop here first and whatever you don't find, pick it up at another store if you are in a hurry.

The next day 2 more were rotted, leaning all over the counter smelling sour I contacted the store but this was 4 days after the fact and ALL have been discarded because they are rotten. Of course you can't do anything without the packaging or the receipt. Didn't think I'd have to save it with their "fresh produce"

I have tried everything over the counter, prescription, orthopedic medicine; nothing helps but natural and organic medicine!!! It's time we start using what Mother Nature gave us! There's everything in this store, organic produce, juices, vitamins and supplements, chocolate and candy I've never seen before, they even have a little section where you can get a fresh smoothie or a sandwich. There's an area where you can sit with your food. They even have a post office in this little grocery store. But it is expensive.. a box of cereal is $7.49, and it's not even a large box. They had a 5 pound jar of local honey for $50.00. I stopped in to pick up some crackers for my guacamole, I picked some really nice ones for only $3.29, but half the bag was air. This is not the fault of the store of course. It's a lot of fun to walk through a store where everything looks new, and innovative. If you're in the area stop by, always shop smart, not impulsively.

The stocking is inconsistent so I can never rely on being able to get the products I come in for. This is particularly true for buttermilk which I buy weekly. Yes, it is a specialty item but the store is plenty large enough to keep it in stock and perhaps carry more than the one expensive option offered. In terms of the other selection, it is hard to find unusual ingredients and yet there does often seem to be a decent selection of tropical fruit. The bakery has very mediocre bakes and an average selection at best. There is nothing truly horrifying; I mean to say the place is relatively clean, no vermin, nothing that could actually get me to stop being lazy and go somewhere I enjoy shopping. This particular branch is pretty basic and low-tech. Finally, the staff and employees are a mixed batch that kind of breaks down to be 25% spiteful, 50% ambivalent, and 25% pleasant. If you have better options or more motivation, head elsewhere.

Ortiz is long gone, but it's former shell is still operating as "Los Primos" Yes, I said bodega, because essentially this is what Los Primos is. Not only can you get the most incredible latin food, but you can also buy Faygo soda, Lottery Tickets, Cheetos & a "Loosey". Dont be "scurred" by the appearance, and don't let your apprehension stop you from enjoying some of the best latin food around. You'll undoubtedly have to bypass the riff-raff that congregates near the front door, but once you get inside the smells of sweet plaintains and freshly cooked pork waft through the air. A steam table near the back is filled with the delicacies of the day. Roasted Pernil, Chicken Legs in Adobo, and Steak simmered in peppers & onions. Yellow Rice & Beans, and Sauteed Plaintains. Fried Pork, Empanadas & Renello De Papas are in the warming cabinet up front. Lunch containers come in 3 sizes ($4 for small, $6 for medium & $8 for large), and come with rice, beans, plantains and your choice of meat. You can also buy meat by the pound ($6.99). Trust when I say this food is addicting. You WILL crave it again and again, and find excuses to make your way back to middletown for lunch time. Keep in mind that it's lunch time only, and they only make a certain amount of food, so once they're out, you're out of luck. I'm also not sure if they cook on weekends, or if they accept credit cards (i've always gone on a weekday & paid with cash). You can easily get away with lunch for 2 here under $15 and be completely stuffed. Go and enjoy a place that I used to keep in my secret stash...

They have their own wine and liquor store, plus a grab-and-go, buffet-style area with fresh, hot food. There is also an ice cream station with cotton candy and strawberry soft-serve, which is delicious. I especially love the cone cups because if the ice cream melts, it doesn't drip all over you. One of my favorite parts is the selection of pre-prepped meals you can take home and throw right in the oven, like Chicken Cordon Bleu and stuffed chicken with spinach and artichoke, along with many other options. It makes dinner so much easier. The only downside was that the avocados all seemed very overripe, so those probably aren't the best thing to buy here. Other than that, the store is well stocked and easy to shop in. I also really appreciate that they have real checkout counters instead of only self-checkout. The employees are friendly, helpful, and the service is good. Prices run a little on the higher side, but if you look around, you can definitely find some decent deals. Overall, it's a convenient and enjoyable place to shop, especially for the pre-made meals and family-friendly atmosphere.

I wasn't mentally prepared for what happened next, but it was entertaining. When you first walk in, you get the full bombardment of sights and smells. Like a mix of a fairgrounds and a convenience store. Then all the displays and aisle lead to a zig zag path with no nice way to circumvent. You have to follow the path, and along each bend is the grocery's brand of products. Dotted along the path are a number of animatronics. Singing and dancing fruits, veggies, and animals greet you with a cavalcade of noise and motion. None of them annoying, but it's something you need to adjust to as you go about your supply run. Eventually got to the meat section, and the quality and price were fairly reasonable compared to competitors. They have large pieces of meat that the butcher can clean up and cut into whatever thickness you like. Pricing of the other groceries varies, and the selection is usually limited to a few options. But the quality of the staples makes it a worthwhile trek. The staff at the time I went was not very present, but the cashier was friendly. It's not a constant stop, but one that I would go to for the freezer restock. For those who have not tried them, expect rainforest cafe or bugaboo creek and prepare for a walk.
