Finally made it over to Bigwig Tacos in River North after a late night out it was my first time at any of their locations, and it was a great call. Definitely a solid late-night option. The setup is similar to Chipotle where you go down the line and build your order, but they were still running things smoothly even around 2 a.m., which I appreciated. I went with a bowl plus chips and queso. The bowl hit the spot when I got home, and honestly, the queso was amazing easily one of the better ones I've had in a while. Chips were super fresh too. I came here around 2am and couldn't have been more happier with my experience. The lady at the front was so kind and catered to all of our needs. It's fast casual, so you can take your food to go or even sit inside. The tacos are BOMB!! I got carne asada tacos and it comes with the meat, cheese, onion and cilantro on a tortilla. I ordered "The Undefeated" super burrito and felt defeated the second I opened the aluminum foil it was encased it. This was hands down THE most sad and unsatisfying burrito I've had in my life. The queso was runny, the lettuce wilted, and lastly while the chicken was good - clearly inflation is doing a number on Big Wig tacos because I was given maybe 2 tablespoons of chicken if that. Love Big Wig Tacos I keep coming back because of their tacos, drinks, and sides. I'm obsessed with the steak, Mahi Mahi, and Barbacoa tacos. I get mine with no cheese, just cilantro and onions--simple, fresh, and SO flavorful. Pair them with the green sauce or their new avocado, cilantro, lime sauce (an absolute hit)! Their new strawberry horchata is a must-try. It's creamy, sweet, and gives major strawberry milk vibes, but with that horchata twist The rice and beans are perfection, and the guacamole with chips is fresh and satisfying every time. They're open until 5 AM, making it the perfect late-night bite. Parking, though... let's just say it's a gamble. Have someone wait in the car or stick to pick-up (their indoor seating is an option if you're lucky enough to snag parking). Oh the staff is always sooo friendly and keep the establishment clean. 1 Star - Disrespectful and Discriminatory Treatment I came with my two cousins to order tacos and was immediately greeted at the door by two officers and a manager named Nicole. She informed us that only online orders were being accepted. We respected that and began walking back to the car. However, just moments later, Nicole allowed two Caucasian girls to enter and place their orders in person. I walked back to the door to politely ask why they were being served while we were turned away, and Nicole completely ignored me. I even recorded her taking their order after we were denied entry. This review is to say: go where your money is respected. I've worked in the food industry for over 10 years, and my aunt owns a restaurant -- we would never treat customers this way or show favoritism. This was a terrible experience and completely unacceptable behavior from management. Do better. 1 star. read more

Now those taco...DELICIOUS, AMAZING, meat seasoned perfectly and not skimpy with the protein (we only get cilantro & cheese because we usually have leftovers because we are so full and it's easier to warm up). It was out first night in Chicago for our weekend get alway. We needed a good meal after our long drive and Big Wig didn't disappoint. The wife and I both love horchata and Big Wig had some of the best we've had. My wife got the Nachos. The portion was huge and they were full of flavor. I got three chicken tacos. The tacos with the mild sauce were fire. The chicken in my tacos was cubed chicken. It isn't my favorite way to eat chicken but it was still good. Ordered delivery from big wig tonight. The veggie burrito was ok. I got it with beans, rice, cheese, lettuce, jalapenos, etc. First of all, the burrito was a lot smaller than I had expected. So one burrito wasn't completely filling. For $15 per burrito, that seems pretty disappointing. More importantly, the sparse ingredients and or flavor absence of those ingredients made for a burrito that was kind of meh. Mixed review. I am not a fan of tacos like this. I grew up with tacos filled with flavored meat, refried beans, black olives, tomato and lettuce. To me, tacos with just meat, onion and cilantro are not a real dinner. My friend from Chicago thinks Big Wig are the best in the city. The meat is well cooked (overcooked to me) and is appropriately accompanied by almost nothing. He thinks the size is also good. Really small in my opinion but I'm used to 12" shells not ones maybe 7". If you a fan of minimalistic street tacos, my friend swears these are the best. If you are used to loaded tacos, look somewhere else. read more

They just put the meat in there and think everything's OK for $26 and I get no rice. I'm very disappointed. I was making a business trip up to Chicago today and passed by BigWig. As all Chicago restaurants are parking is tough to find but these tacos are worth it. The location is centered in the heart of Chicago and has a welcoming environment! I had three tacos and chips and queso which totaled around 20 bucks with a tip. Overall the quality of the food was excellent and I was very satisfied. Service was speedy and very helpful through the selection process the only gripe I have is the price.
