Amazing staff, amazing prices during UBCO student day and amazing teachers who guide you and congratulate you on excelling! I got a package for 120$ which included rentals, a 2 hours lesson and a ski lift pass. I was quite nervous since it was my very first time trying out a winter sport and Rhys- our instructor- was super helpful and super encouraging. At the end of the lesson, he provided us with feedback on what we need to improve on so that we're ready to hit the green runs. I ended up doing the very easy, pre-beginner runs right after the lesson and it was really fun! I fell many times but that is only because I didn't really follow my instructor's recommendation to practice on the bunny hills before I head to the runs. Anyway! Highly recommend taking lessons and enjoying the fresh snow at Big White! read more

Came here with big hopes of all the champaign power that everyone talks about, but alas i had all blue bird days. Sunny skies, temperatures in the 30s and 40s, no new snow. Despite all that i had a blast. The runs are well planned out, there are not many cat track areas which kills me at other places, in fact probably the least cat track areas of any resort i can think of. The mornings were kind of icy so it was best to go out after 9:30 or so to let the ice melt a bit and let other people break up the hard pack. After that it was smooth riding, late in the day it got a bit slushy but no more than what you get in California. This is a great resort for families, there were a bunch of them and my brother brought his kid to try snowboarding for the first time. I'd say its a great intermediate mountain. Most of the green runs are equal to shallow blue runs, i think its a Canadian thing, though the Blue runs are still basically the same, but with maybe some steeper parts. The runs here seem to be set up much better and are very enjoyable, i spent very little effort and boarded for 5 days straight, with a bunch of stretching of course! The way to ride the mountain at least on sunny blue bird days (which I'm told is not the norm) is as you look at the map, start on the Right side in the morning then work your way to the Left, thats the way the sun hits the mountain, so you want to go where the sun has melted the ice a bit. When its white out or powder conditions, i have no clue, i have not experienced that yet. I did make it over to the Gem Lake side in the afternoon, and there were some epic runs there but there was also a long cat track at one point which i disliked so i stayed clear of it after that. If you can make it up the T bar, it was a nice long run thats not too steep or too shallow, perfect for intermediate riders, its like the rest of the mountain but i guess less people go up the T bar so its a bit less untouched. Over all i really liked my experience here, better than Whistler actually. The runs were well set up, i booked a shuttle to and from the airport, an hour ride from the Kelowna airport. I talked to a bunch of people on the lifts and many of them go every year, and i can see why. read more

Found out why it's called Big White... We had come here 3 years ago and had a perfect Blue Bird day with tons of fresh powder and a huge base and summit depth. Perfect conditions. This year it was completely fogged in with horrid visibility that made skiing nerve-wracking and difficult. The groomed slopes were rough, icy and obviously needed more consistent grooming. Line management was OK, but they should work on fixing the turn-styles, they randomly lock up. For the price, I expect better. read more

We drove for 1 hour just to go On Gandola, Big White Scenic Chair (Bullet Express) , first we went there and they said we can book ticket Online or either go into thier Ticket Centre. We did book our tickets at 4:17 pm and they let us buy that Online for the Same day, whenwe showed them they said we will have to go back to ticket centre to do all paperwork, that we already did online. We even mentioned that we are not doing Hiking or Biking, we just need Gandola ride thats all. They still send us there in thier office we even talked to them before we go there, she printed everything and we did all signatures and everything. then she mentioned if you guys are not doing Biking we cannot Let you go on that. Eventhough we told them that we already Paid for 2 tickets at 4:17pm on 23rd July,2023 then we requested them if they can help us Cancel and issue us refund. They just just send an email to them. Overall, this is the worst experience, we paid for it did not get any ride! Will never come Back! Worst Experience, We don't even want to give 1 star read more

My family and I have skied here three different years. We came back because of the great atmosphere, good snow, and the variety of runs. Not to mention conveniently located lodging found in Happy Valley, with many ski-in, ski-out options. My boss treated us to a 1-hour private horse-drawn sleigh ride at the Big White Ski Resort and it was amazing. The views were breathtaking. Our driver was knowledgeable and had a good sense of humor. The weather held out for us. It was nippy at times when the wind picked up but the blankets that were provided to us made the ride a cozy one. We stopped halfway and were able to get out, take pictures, stretch our legs and enjoy a steaming cup of hot chocolate. We passed the dogsleds and tubing hills (that really piqued my curiosity for next time). The facilities were clean. The parking was plentiful. You could see the gondolas above that link the villages (that was tempting me too). Everything seemed thoughtfully laid out and super convenient. This was my first time visiting the resort and I hope to make the trip again soon. For someone like me who isn't too outdoorsy, this definitely brought out my love for mother nature. Big White is the BEST family resort out there. What makes a resort "family friendly" you may ask? Well, for me its more about the amenities and services rather than the mountain itself (since it's pretty standard everywhere to have a mountain with a proportionate number of easy to hard runs). Big White is a mountain with a truly family feel to it, although it is expensive it doesn't feel as bad to shell out the big bucks since it's not going to some mega-corporation like Vail. The Apres-Ski at Big White is like no other - I'm talking for little kids and big kids alike. For the young ones and for the entire family there are activities going on in the Village and Happy Valley every night such as popcorn night or bingo. Also in Happy Valley there is tubing which runs at night as well as a massive ice wall that you can climb and a skating rink. The service provided at Biggie is friendly and extremely helpful and their facilities are well maintained and their runs and parks are always kept to a very high standard. The variety in terrain and the size of the mountain makes it a great week-long adventure (especially when they are blessed with champagne powder). Also, they have a Moose as a mascot. Ain't no joke when they say champagne powder at big white. They have excellent snow condition, a wide variety of runs, and multiple lodges with cafes. The blue and green runs vary in technical levels; overall they have five express chairlifts and many other normal-speed lifts. I would recommend this mountain to intermediate skiers and snowboarders. Electronic gate cards make it effective to go on ski lifts although can slow down if people don't have their cards readily available to scan. At the Happy Valley Lodge they have a skating rink and ski snowboard and snowshoe rentals. At night they have night skiing. Their Village Center has many food and beverage choices and convenience stores. It's a good place to explore with your family and grab a pint with your friends. We went in January so the average temperature was below zero so dress warm. read more

I always love coming out to Big White, well worth the drive from Alberta! On this trip we spent a week in Kelowna and went up to Big White for 3 days of riding. I can't comment on the accommodations here as we always find a cheaper place to stay in the Kelowna area. The Telus Park is huge and so much fun! I love that they have something for all skill levels. I always love riding this mountain because the runs are big and open, but there is also a ton of tress calling our names. There is also a big variety of green, blue and black runs, and we rode them all. Our first day of riding was good, but the best was by far our 2nd day. It was raining in Kelowna for 2 days before so we decided to relax. When we arrived to the hill for that 2nd day of riding, it was loaded with fresh pow! Absolutely unbelievable and we had a blast. I'm a 5'4" snowboarder and there were times that I got stuck or buried and actually had to be dug out - this was in the trees of course. The 3rd day of riding was a few days later and it had warmed up quiet a bit, so there was a lot of slush and we didn't last the whole day. Our favorite run was the Parachute Bowl on that 2nd day with all of the fresh powder. But they had it closed due to avalanche danger on the 3rd day - probably for the best. We're glad we got to spend the time that we did in there and you get a stellar view from the summit. While we were there we had no problems with the lifts. All of the signs were always updated with the operating lifts and mountain conditions. I like how the maps were so easy to read and had "You are here" posted on your location. All in all we had a wonderful spring break family vacation and I am always looking forward to my next visit! read more

I love skiing at Big White. This past visit was my second in as many years. In '14 I stayed for just for four days. I loved every minute of skiing here. The snow was exceptional last year and the mountain's runs are great. This past March i stayed for six days. The snow wasn't quite as good this past March as it was last year, but it's been a tough year for snow all over the west. As for things to do here, there is the great skiing, but there's also tons of restaurants for the foodies and bars for after skiing and partying into the night. Also, there is snowshoeing, snowmobiling, a 60 foot climb, and tons of things for the kids and families to do. I plan on coming here for many years to come. read more

Filthy absolutely filthy chairs bed washroom floors doors cubords. TV worked OK. THAT'S THE ROOM. 105 the ski lockup wasn't secure it has been forced open, I did not feel comeforeable leaving my belongings. I'm used to skiing in Quebec where mountains are smaller so I was excited to try a western Canadian ski resort like Big White. It was much better than the skiing I am accustomed to in Quebec and I really enjoyed myself. I had to rent my skis and despite the large size of their rental operation it works very efficiently. I was geared up and ready to go in no time. The customer service here and at the ticket counter was excellent. The mountain is large and there was a wide variety of runs for all skill levels and they weren't icy. In Quebec the runs get very icy with the skiers and snowboarders passing over them all day so I really appreciated this. There was fresh snow when I came which made them even better! Also despite it being a Saturday line-ups for lifts were non-existent which meant not a lot of time was wasted waiting for them. My one gripe was the cafeteria which was vastly overpriced. A burger and onion rings was almost $20 without a drink which is on the expensive side when compared to some of the other mountains I have been to. Also the kitchen was disorganized. They were slow to get orders out and there was no coordination. My onion rings were ready long before my burger was so they sat there getting cold while I waited for the rest of my lunch. read more

Big White is a beautiful place to visit if you're into winter sports. It's beautiful, there are plenty of runs and the pow is supposed to be great. I love to snowboard (though I'm no pro) and both times that I've come up here I've sadly had to pass on the winter sports. Oh well, there's lots to do, right? If you're the type who prefers the ski resort environment, minus the sports, there won't be a lot to do here. Having grown up visiting Sun Peaks, I've developed a bit of expectation around these kinds of resorts: decent nightlife and a bustling village with decent shopping (I'm a half-day-er). Since Kelowna is bigger than Kamloops (is it not?) I expected Big White's village to be bigger. Nope. If you're a pretend ski bunny, you may want to stay somewhere else. The village is... well, barely a village. All this being said, I would go back in a heartbeat, but I'll be bringing my board next time. read more

Our overall experience was great when you consider the excellent snow conditions and smaller lines compared to Lake Louise or SunShine Ski Resort. Lots of powder, plenty of ski lifts to spread out our skiing day. A couple areas that's confusing for the first time is the main area where you start. No signs or suggestions to go through a tunnel and down the hill to get to the main chair lifts. Additionally, the ski school, ticket purchasing, rental shop, day care are all run independently and don't communicate with each other. Therefore, you need to purchase lift tickets from one place, day care or ski lessons from another location and rental equipment from yet another area. Why can't I purchase everything all together and get vouchers like how other ski resorts do it? Anyways, the day care was extremely dysfunctional and am amazed they didn't lose our child when taking them to ski lessons. The facility is very out dated and looks very unclean and a pure mess. However, this review is based on the overall skiing and experience on the hill and I would recommend others to try this skiing resort for themselves. read more

We had a 4 night stay at Sundance. Here is what I loved: -The rooms were wonderful (spacious, clean, good view, perfect ski in ski out proximity to the lifts, friendly staff). - The slopes were in excellent condition (combination of powder and also some groomed runs, very spacious and plenty of back country too). - The lifts were fast and there were no lines (at times I felt I was on my own private mountain). - Sundance has a very prompt shuttle service to take you to various restaurants on the resort property. - We were impressed with the food both on the mountain and Apres Ski with in the resort. The only reason I can't give this resort 5 stars (I really wanted to) is because we booked a dog sled tour before we arrived at the resort and the person that did the booking failed to tell us that there is a weight limit. When we arrived to pick up our tickets we had all of our snow gear on and they asked to weigh us and we ended up being 4LBS over the limit and they told us we couldn't go and they could not refund us. The whole weight limit thing came as a total surprise and as a couple we are both very fit and light but with all that gear on, snowboard boots and all it made us heavier than their undisclosed requirement. They told us I should have checked the website which shows the weight requirement but I made my booking over he phone and was never directed to the website so I had no idea about this policy. In my opinion, based on the weight restriction, going on the sled as a duo seems like it is really intended for a parent and a child, not an adult couple. We asked for our money back because we were misinformed and they said that the sale was final and they could not refund us even though their staff failed to give us the weight limit disclaimer. So we would be paying $250+ for a sled ride that we would not receive due to an undisclosed weight limit. I called the manager and she said that if she was able to sell our time slot to someone else, that would be the only way we would be refunded. Lucky for us, they did sell it and we did get refunded but we really didn't think it was right that they were not going to refund us for a service that we would not receive unless they could fill our spot. Other than that the trip was perfect and we would return but would avoid booking excursions with the concierge ahead of time. read more

This is now my favorite ski resort. Went during spring and we found some fresh powder. There is tonnes of runs to explore, you can spend a whole day hitting new runs. The road up to the resort is a little windy, but once you get there it's worth it. The resort has several little bars and restaurants on the hill to refuel on along day of riding. read more

After visiting Big White for the Family Day weekend, we were left confused and frustrated that it's advertised as a family resort. In addition to an expected amount of noise for a long weekend, my group and I were collectively kept awake the ENTIRE NIGHT on Saturday due to heavy partying that included a lengthy (and presumably unauthorized) 3am fireworks display in the street in front of our condo as well as the pathway behind it. The party continued very loudly in the street after the fireworks until 6am. I thought about getting out of bed to ask them to move the party inside, but not only did I expect it would come to a natural end much quicker, but I didn't feel safe approaching such a large group in the middle of the night. I appreciate letting loose a little on the long weekend, but this was a completely out of hand and I'm shocked and disappointed it wasn't addressed by Big White or the RCMP. Needless to say, we all woke up in terrible shape for our ski day and the animals staying with us were in distress and hiding from the noise. Although I truly enjoy the hill itself, I would NOT recommend this as a family resort. read more

What a year it has been this season, with all the fresh snow!! How can someone not give this resort a great review. If you park by the happy valley lot, the gondola is free to take you up to the main chalet & shopping area. Lots of cute little shops, great little eateries & places to have a good drink. For season vets like myself, they have two chalets on the further points of the mountain so that you can avoid all the hustle and bustle of tourists & whip in to grab lunch before hitting the hill again. I also hear i can get a cheaper seasons pass if I buy before I date. Definitely looking into for this year. read more

From last winter. Big White, is a ski resort located 56 km (35 mi) southeast of Kelowna in the Southern Interior of British Columbia. Located on Big White Mountain, the highest summit in the Okanagan Highland, and they say it is the second largest resort in British Columbia after Whistler-Blackcomb and is the sister resort of Silver Star Mountain Resort. The mountain summit is at 2,319 m (7,608 ft) with a vertical drop of 777 m (2,549 ft), serviced by 16 lifts. Big White has western Canada's largest resort night skiing area...something to do after Vodka swigging dinner. The central village, at about 5000ft (or in Canadian, about 1755meters), has accommodation, eateries, bars and shops. There are about 118 "designated" trails and 27 unnamed trails. Probably over 50% intermediate and about 25% are classed as expert. The wooded areas between trails are all open, and can offer a variety of ungroomed snow and widely varied terrain. There are also two tubing lifts. These lifts are capable of transporting 28,000 people per hour uphill. There's a Nordic center for the X-country skiers. There are wide runs and half pipes for the snow boarders. Great runs, great deep power near one of my fav "Interior" cities, Kelowna. Lots of Aussie helpers in our winter...their summer, so shred and practice saying "Mate" in between your Canadian "Ehs" and American "Uhs". read more

We loved it! Great for family with children. Didn't have a good snowmobile experience though. We wished the tour guide told us it could flip over as we were inexperienced. Thankfully no one got hurt and I was wearing snowboard boots or my foot may have broke. The children's instructors and ski program was tops! Teachers were fun and knowledgeable! read more

Absolutely love love love this place! The scenery is so beautiful and it's such a serene quaint little ski town nestled in the woods among alpines and many feet of snow. It has a few good restaurants and a ski town pub with pool tables. You can take little gondolas to the bottom of the hill and go to inner tubing, ice pick climbing, ice skating etc and they have nice wood burning fires outside that you can sit by and warm up and enjoy a nice hot chocolate. The scenery skiing is stunningly beautiful. It's not a big village like Whistler but it's a nice little ski village with a Christmas feel and it kind of reminds me of a little cartoon town. I go every year multiple times and I absolutely love it! It's definitely a little jewel in the neck of the woods only about 45 minutes outside of Kelowna. read more

Big White is great but it gets 4 stars because the village is a bit lacking for amenities, selection of food etc. Other than that, it is the perfect mountain for all around skiing/snowboarding. There are plenty of runs to keep you busy no matter if you are a green skiier or prefer double black diamond. It's a very family friendly mountain, but there is still plenty of fun to be had at Snowshoe Sams, Raquels, or just regular condo/house parties. It's a shame I don't live in Kelowna anymore, I miss going up to Big White every weekend. read more

I had a fantastic day with friends skiing here. The views were exceptional and the powder amazing. Fun activities available for all with ice climbing, tubing, ice skating and snow shoeing. The amenities and restaurants were decent also. One of the best ski resorts I have visited for sure. The only criticism would be the cost of the days ski pass. I really enjoyed skiing for the day with my fiancee. The bunny hill is long enough but not too hard for the rusty or new skiers. The green hill was alot of fun once I practiced my turns alot on the bunny hill. The bunny hill at Lake Louise is way too short so you really don't get enough time to practice before getting on their very long and somewhat difficult green slope. We actually cut our vacation short at Lake Louise and came back to finish the week skiing at Big White. More powder at Big White. Also.I got oil dripped on my ski jacket while on the lift. Big White employees were very kind about giving me a dry cleaner pass to take the oil out. ALong with being Kelowna Rocket fans we will get ski passes for next season. To help us stay in shape. We aren't getting much exercise at the rocket games except for our jaws with all the rooting we do. GO CANADA read more

I love Big White! The reason is that Big White has a lot of fun runs that are green, blue, and black as well. For an example, my favorite runs are Serwa's, Exhibition, Millie's Mile, and Whisky Jack. I also like Big White because the rooms are comfy, and it has that homey feeling. The service is fast and Big White provides very exciting activities in the evening. For an example, my favorite activities are tubing,and Wii night. I recommend Big White to people who want to ski in Canada and basically just have a blast! read more

My beef isn't related to Big White Skiing but with its accommodation, in particular case, our room at the Whitefoot Lodge. Because our stay was short - only a five night stay- we chose a less expensive place opting for convenience over amenities. Ours was at the WhiteFoot lodge, smack dab in the center of the village and an easy walk to everything and totally ski in/out. The room was small but a decent size for the two of us and although very dated (an integrated fridge/stove top/sink) of at least 40 year vintage, it was appointed with the basic necessities. Our gripe was't with any of these things but rather with the bed. It was terrible and in desperate need of replacement. After inquiring about it with Big White's central reservations, I was told the following in an email from the reservation staff. " Moving on to the mattress which you mentioned was not up to your standards. We have had this mattress checked today by the manager of Owner Relations. He has also checked when it was purchased, and the standard of the mattress. The mattress in your room is a $500+ mattress, so of a good quality and was purchased just over 3 years ago and does meet our current rental standards. While we understand your concerns, and empathize that the mattress may not be comfortable for you personally we do not currently have another mattress that is of equal or better quality to the one that is already in the room." I told the staff person that $500 three years ago, wasn't an expensive price for a bed, that I had a good bed well over 30 years of age for which I had paid nearly $1000 and it was still in better shape than this cheap worn our mattress. In fairness to Big White Central Reservations, I had mentioned that there was no bath mat for showering, that the tub floor was very slippery. A mat was bought and brought to our room later that afternoon. Well done on that score. Anyway, it was clear our bed wasn't going to be replaced. The best thing this place has going for itself is its location so if you plan on a short stay, and I emphasize short, no longer than 3 days, do stay here but otherwise, look elsewhere. Our family has skiied at a lot of BC resorts over the years, but after our Big White experience last weekend, this one wins the blue ribbon. Fabulous champagne powder, no lift line-ups and tons of runs that met all of our family's varying abilities. Loved the tube park and giant outdoor rink too -and all the family perks at Sundance, our ski in ski out accommodation that was seconds away from the lifts. read more

Snow big deal that the exchange rate is now even-steven in regards to me going to Big White in Kelowna. Its just that good. The skiing/boarding is stupendous and the hospitality is incredible. The resort is owned by Australians, so you often get called "Mate" by resort employees that you find yourself wanting to say it. Oh wait, that would be silly. An American in Canada butchering an Australian accent. Lots of ski in/ski out accommodations which I insist on. I want to ski, not drive.There's a outdoor ice skating rink, tubing hill and evening bonfire parties. One night, there was a party in the village. There were artists carving huge ice sculpture that weren't completed until the wee hours of the morning. It was fun to check them out the next morning before hitting the slopes. Everyone was just so damn friendly that you found yourself enjoying everything that much more. The last day there it was so sunny and clear with perfect snow that I didn't want to leave. ELEVATION SALON AND SPA This review applies to elevation salon and spa. I had sent an email to enquire about a group pedicure for my mother in laws birthday. I had received no reply. Then I decided to call. I had a RUDE woman answer my call (feb 10, 2016) who I assume was the manager. I called about 3 pedicures (which would total over $200 pre tip). The woman was beyond rude and said she could not get us an appointment at the same time. I told her this was for a birthday and asked if there was anyway it could work. She said she would call me "end of day". I asked what time that meant and she replied "well, it's Wednesday". No kidding! What time?, I thought! She told me "between 5 & 6pm" Well, guess what? No call. Clearly we were wasting her time and our business was an annoyance. We come to Big White annually and I will never go to this spa. Over priced and rude manager! The manager needs a major lesson in customer service. She sucks! We will be passing this along to anyone we know. Don't bother with this spa. The manager is a HAG! read more
