The check in process was efficient and the rooms comfortable. Both couples received room upgrades. We made ample use of the on-site restaurant for breakfast multiple times and for lunch at the pool once. The staff, particularly the bar staff, were lovely. The pool was great. It was still colder than a lot of people would like so we had no trouble finding space. We were even able to take up a table to play some board games. The only complaint we had was that despite indicating we would like housekeeping every third day they never actually came. We made do but it was a little frustrating.

If you keep driving up the mountain on the road the house is located on, you'll reach one end of the Myra Canyon Trestles. Definitely go for a hike there. Super easy, albeit a very long walk, and so worth it! This place is also a ranch. Trail riding on horseback is offered separately. Our stay was so wonderful and relaxing. We booked a room here for a short 3 night stay and were excited to find an internet rate of $71 a night plus tax. When I arrived, I was amazed at what such a low price can get you in Summerland!! I know it's not their peak season, but wow! Our room was ready when we arrived and we were excited to find an incredibly comfortable Queen sized bed, a full kitchen with stove and oven, fridge and freezer, and a big bath tub in the very modern and pretty bathroom. The room was small and a bit cramped, but that's mainly because they try and fit so much into a small space. Our room had a gas fireplace, TV, table and chairs, full kitchen, large armoire, full bathroom, and even a balcony with chairs and table. Everything felt new, fresh and clean. Some family members stayed in the two bedroom suite which had a partial lake view. They were supposed to be in the full lake front view two bedroom suite, but the hotel messed up. We had told them that we had 3 people over the age of 85 who would be sharing a suite. When we got there, they had put us in a suite with a great view, but it had stairs to a loft and the other bedroom was a Murphy bed that you had to move a 6 person table to access. Obviously that isn't going to work for our seniors. We were quite annoyed, but the new room was nice. It wasn't quite what we had asked for, but it was very nice. The full kitchens are really convenient, especially if you are staying a while. The bath tub had very high sides, and it could have used a safety bar or handicap bar to help you in and out. I'm only 36 and of average height, but the tub sides were really high for me and when you are wet, you could slip. They have free WiFi throughout the property, just ask for the pass code when you arrive and it's the same for every hot spot. Overall, the hotel is beautiful. You are steps away from the lake, minutes from downtown Summerland and the surrounding wineries. Penticton is a short drive away and I can't imagine there is anywhere nicer in the area.

I stayed 2 nights in January- one at the start of my trip and one at the end. On the first stay Jan 20, I was lucky enough to be checked in by the dynamic duo of Ashley & Jackson. I must have looked like a weary traveler because they were so kind to me and made me feel welcome. It was very much appreciated. On the second stay a week later, Jackson remembered me and I was greeted with a big warm welcome! How cool is that to be remembered after a week of servicing hundreds or thousands of guests? It made me feel really great and this is the kind of thing that keeps people coming back- I know I will! As for the hotel- it's so clean and comfortable. The rooms are super nice and the beds are super comfortable. I love the fact that they have complimentary coffee 24-7. Nowadays that is more and more rare. I recently stayed in a fancy hotel in NYC and it was nowhere near as nice as this hotel, and they made me buy coffee. This is normal nowadays.. What the heck? I highly recommend this hotel for its location, rooms, and awesome staff! Bill K

The bathroom was a generous size. Appreciated that the shower had sliding doors instead of a curtain. Large mirrors in the bathroom and the main room were nice. Chair at the desk was comfortable as was the oversized chair. Blackout curtain worked very well. Sometimes light will still seep in through a crack, and one could tell when the dawn had arrived, but it still kept it subdued enough to not be surprising. Appreciated the hooks in the room to hold bags - haven't seen that in any other hotel room before. I didn't hear one other person except some noisy kids going down the hallway and when an occasional door would close hard so pretty quiet. I'm a light sleeper and wasn't woken up by anything either night. Welcome note with a can of trail mix was on the desk when I entered the room. For hygiene reasons, would be better to have a sealed, new package vs. a handful sitting in a tin. Room service is available from the hotel next door. When you order, they will bring it to the front desk and then you pick it up from there. The pizza with sausage, apples and arugula wasn't good; crust was bland and flat and the combo of ingredients didn't work. Thai lettuce chicken wraps were basically lettuce, chicken chunks, a sauce and tortilla strips, not the traditional recipe but tasted ok. Carrot cake was good. Had to-go bags for breakfast that had an apple, bottle of water, plain bagel, pb and jelly. No utensils included. Hot breakfast included but didn't have that. The internet was spotty to the point that their bank lines couldn't take a credit card for 20 minutes. Had to call the credit card company because the card kept giving a decline message and they shared there was no input of any transactions at all, verified by the hotel manager who said nothing was showing up on his end either. The card company said it was probably the internet or bank line and sure enough, that was the issue. Saw other people going through the same trying to check-in. When I was working on my laptop, got a disconnect notice a few times. Then I saw that the hotel has a disclaimer that the free internet service is good only for checking emails or surfing the web and there was an additional charge if you wanted the real internet speeds.
