Ordered the Big Shaker Salad and the Double Cheeseburger. She was very pleased with the salad with its long cut cucumbers, heirloom greens, carrots, and a nice touch of pumpkin seeds. The cheeseburger was nice portion of double meat made with Hank's Grass Fed Beef from BC and it is superior in flavor and texture to the your usual meat plug. Service was great, ordered at the counter and brought to the table. The restaurant and washroom were was immaculately clean, sparklingly spotless. Noticed an emphasis on bio-friendly paper straws and wood eating utensils, but the Diet Pepsi was served in cans rather than fountain. Just an observation. read more

I walk through the doors of Big Wheel Burger and the friendly woman at the front cash register smiles at me saying "Deep fried pickles to go?". Since the first time I made that order she has not forgotten who I am or what I eat. The service is exceptional. The employees are so kind and take the time to connect with their customers. The fried pickles and the variety of flavoured fries are fantastic. The burgers (both vegan and normal) are average. Is it wrong that I am coming up with reasons to travel home to Victoria just to visit Big Wheel? My family had raved about it, but I didn't KNOW just how good it was until I visited their new location over the holidays this year. This place doesn't have a lot of space. Maybe, 8 tables? MAYBE? A small bar? So, be prepared to do takeout if there's no tables. The space is clean and bright, but definitely meant to get you in and out - this is fast food. GREAT fast food, but, know what you're getting. I had a gluten free burger and fries and HOT DAMN were they good. The quality of the beef was excellent and it was well cooked - not too pink, not charred to death, and deliciously seasoned. The gluten free bun did NOT fall apart in your hands, which is more than I can say for most places. The fries were classic - crispy, salted, addictive. \ I used to dream about In-N-Out Burger -with the nearest being in California, I don't get to go too often. The burgers are overpriced, over salted, over sauced and poor buns to boot. I have given them 4 solid tries over nearly a year and sorry, they are just not worth it. The touted quality of the meat doesn't come through in anyway with the way it is presented. Same overall with the fries, too heavily salted. If you want a good burger, there are likely better around for the price. BWB cost nearly as much as a decent restaurant served one, but the quality isn't there. Choose a better burger joint to spend your month. Or spend the time at home and make one. :) read more

Let me start by saying my experience with this location was amazing! From the moment I walked through the door and was pleasantly greeted by one of the staff to the moment I finished my tasty burger. It was my first time at Gateway Big Wheel and it was really busy, so I was a little worried about how long it would take to get my food. Within a minute I had a drink cup in hand to help myself to their soda machine while I waited for my order. The kitchen and server team really gave a friendly family feel and everyone seemed to be working well together under the pressure. Coming from a background in restaurants this isn't always the case! My order was quicker than expected, extremely yummy and the services was amazing and very friendly. 10/10 would recommend! Stopped in at the Uptown Gateway location ravenous after a bike ride on The Goose. I've been meaning to try their new vegan burger. I was previously disappointed with the original Veggie Burger - the cheese-stuffed patty was dry, hard and rather flavourless - but was pleased to see a new addition with the Beyond Vegan Burger (only available at this Gateway location). The patty is from the hugely popular Beyond Meat company, a game changer in the vegan market with investors like Bill Gates and Leo DiCaprio. They only use plant based ingredients, no wheat or soy or GMO. Their products are difficult to find in Canada so I was stoked to see Big Wheel serving it (Fish on Fifth in Sidney and Ma Miller's in Langford are other restaurants offering it on their menu). The Beyond Burger is a big improvement with texture and flavour - the patty is thin and quite meat-like - topped with fresh lettuce, tomatoes, pickles and a tasty spicy sauce on a squishy bun. Two thumbs up! This is a difference maker and Big Wheel has now elevated their veggie burger to stand alongside their famous meat burgers. I haven't had fast food in years and I could get used to this. The only problem is the burgers have no description on menu board and they are not that big - I could happily eat two - and at $10 each that's an expensive feast! read more

Fries great, burgers have over application of mayonnaise dressing (triple O sauce or something). Dripping mess. Would have eaten there again to tell them to lay-off on the dressing, but even after the mask-mandate has ended in most businesses, these guys still demand people wear them and won't serve unless worn and you can't eat inside, so won't be patronizing this establishment anymore. I have really enjoyed my previous experiences with Big Wheel. However my takeout online order was not at all good. I ordered to be ready for 1315 and we phoned at 1258 to ask for the order to Be delayed 10min to 1325 because we had gotten stuck in slow traffic - coming in from Metchosin. The person that answered said that our was already done and couldn't be delayed. I thought for sure that they had meant it was cooking. But when I arrived at 1322 to pick up my food and eat in the car, the food was cold and soggy. Food doesn't get that cold and soggy in 7min. Very unhappy. Very disappointing and if Big Wheel doesn't want to respond to online time requests, why would we ever order again? There are many other burger options in the city and Big Wheel in the past had been my favourite. But this latest experience makes me reconsider that. I sent my issues to Big Wheel the General Manager - Yann - asked which location and I never heard from them again. This is poor customer service and why I will be happy to go elsewhere in the future. read more

Subpar, overpriced grease. The absolutely worst value in the city for a burger. If you want a bacon cheeseburger with a side salad it will run you $16.00. And this is a diner-style joint serving quick, classic fast food-style burgers, not 'gourmet' like Pink Bicycle, Bin 4, or Chuck's. The burger is served to you in a grease-soaked brown paper bag, even if you're eating in. The burger itself is pretty plain. It's thin (adding to the poor value), pretty tasteless, and the sauce is overall forgettable. Take your money and go down the road to Pink Bicycle or Bin 4 after 9pm. The burgers are many times tastier and a MUCH better value. I like the concept of local, fresh ingredients etc, but the end product is just really disappointing. I'd avoid. read more

I don't usually write reviews but I thought this might help to make changes to their current state. I used to looove these burgers and was a consistent customer about 6 months ago before the summer of 2018. I've tried many different burgers and they were all sooo flavourful! But when I went away for the summer and when got back the burgers had seemed to downgrade by a significant amount. The patty was smaller and dry, it seemed like they were skimping out on the amount of condiments within the burger, and worse of all... The bun was stale and overpowered the whole burger. I haven't been back to big wheel in a couple months and it used to be a weekly thing for me... I hope something changes. read more

The prices were WAY TOO HIGH though. 12.00 for a chicken burger that had nothing special about it and didn't even come with fries or a drink! And a cheeseburger for 11.00 same thing! Definitely won't come here again. Very good burgers! Filling but not ridiculous in size, most places make huge burgers that go to waste but these were perfect size! And milkshakes were great! I had cheeseburger and fries with a chocolate shake! Restaurant was clean same with the bathrooms which are wheelchair accessible. The burgers had real green lettuce not that stale white lettuce stem other places use! They also have Eco-plastic which is a fake plastic that composts! read more
