The entire ambience was inclusive, positive, and fun and the food was delicious. The service was friendly without feeling too formal. It felt almost like a "Cheers" type environment. We got the traditional poutine as well as a burger and a pulled pork sandwich. The poutine was a generous portion and the sandwiches were fresh and hot, not to mention delicious. It was my first time in Victoria, BC, Canada and I wanted to try poutine for the first time. I stopped by this place while I was walking along the street, I saw that they had good reviews so I walked in and sat down on the booth. I scanned the QR code on the table and chose to order the small original poutine and a beer. The beer came out instantly and the poutine about five minutes after. The poutine was delicious, it tasted like what I was expecting--fries, gravy and cheese. I thought the gravy would have a heavier taste but I was nice and light. The waitress was super helpful to answer any questions I had about the dish and also gave me recommendations on what to do in Victoria. read more

While walking around downtown harbor, we decided to get a traditional poutine to eat outside since the weather was nice. It was okay, not the best poutine I've had. It was crowded both inside and outside. With the takeout, they also gave free sunglasses and candy. One downfall is they forget to include utensils so it was a bit messy and hard to eat. read more

At first, I was hesitant to dive into this faux American tavern with its kitschy decor of old tchotchkes and rock memorabilia. However, one day I was drawn in by the music and never left. Aside from the great selection of craft beers, they also serve that old Island favorite, Lucky Lager. Food-wise, the pub fare is great, with good burgers and wings. There is always a wide variety of people gathering to listen to a diverse array of music, and if it's not your jam, you can change it up. The staff are a lot of fun and keep us entertained. Great for pre-game if you have relatively large group. I think I'll head there for a quick one after work. read more

Had the Crispy Chicken Burger with yam fries, both were great and looked like the photos I'd seen online. Friend tried the monthly burger (Korean Heat Burger), however this came out looking quite different from the photos but tasted good nonetheless. Service was normal and we got our food very fast, however there were only 3 other tables in the restaurant as we went at 1pm. Ambiance is cool with everything on the walls and although they only opened in 2019, I think in a few years it will be able to tell a story much like many restaurants in Victoria. Overall I would recommend giving it a try! But keep in mind if you're using this as a pre drink and food spot before going out and do not care as much about food I would go to warehouse across the street. As the food is cheaper and the drink menu is better, it's also a younger crowd if that's what you're looking for. Killer dive bar vibe and excellent food here. The chicken wings with Siracha honey were crispy and the sauce was delicious and just slightly spicy. I love the perogis - they come with carmalized onion and bacon, and the poutine was the best we had in Victoria (we tried three kinds across the weekend). The gravy was not too salty and the cheese curds tasted creamy and fresh. The service was great, we asked for a holiday shot and she brought us a yummy little concoction with candy cane. We were doing a self-guided walking tour of Victoria and had our dog with us. We needed a place where we could have a pint and lunch on a dog-friendy patio. Leopold's surprised us with very good beer and food. I loved my cobb salad with blackened chicken. It was full of very fresh, delicious veggies and came with two great salad dressings. My husband said his blackened chicken sandwich on a ciabatta roll was also very good. The service was as good as the food and beer. Would definitely return! read more

Stop here on our one day ashore off our cruise and it was nice to find vegan poutine!! And it was good. Order some Mac n cheese bite as well, sorry not vegan but tasty. Had a local dark beer and a cider. It was pleasant to sit on their patio since the forecast showed showers. I have been coming to Leopold's frequently with a colleague for the last little while. The service is always very efficient; I get greeted immediately and the staff are friendly. The bartender's always remember my colleagues regular order and are always very kind and accommodating. Some super cool and intelligent folx working there that keep us coming back. The eclectic décor is fun and reminiscent of real dive bars from "back in the day". The music isn't annoying. Also, happy hour has some decent options for cheap! I highly recommend! read more

This was my first stop off on a recent trip to Victoria thanks to the new plant based menu items. No idea if this has been here for awhile, but if it has it has always escaped my radar, now I realize it is a chain and I hope to find it other places while traveling in Canada. My partner always opts for places that accommodate both of our eating preferences and choose this out of a long list of restaurants I had preselected. This place was very popular when we visited, I think there may have been a sporting event on, but it gave it a really lively vibe. I like the interior decorating as well. Seems like a great spot if you want to spend a weekend afternoon in a bar. The plant based menu is extensive, although kind of pricey. There were so many things I had a hard time choosing. I wish I had been able to visit more than once since there were quite a few things I wanted to try. My server was so great and was able to answer all my questions about the plant based options which truthfully most servers don't seem to be able to do, at least without going into the back to ask questions. I opted for the kick'n chick'n burger and it was quite tasty. On my next visit I am definitely trying the wings, I love that there are so many plant based sauce options. They have specials some nights of the week that seemed like they would have included those and I had hoped to make it back to try them then, but alas it did not happen. I appreciate that the weekly specials incorporate a plant based option, but I'd love to see a better sounding breakfast option get added to the menu. read more

Went here on St. Patrick's Day and it had a great atmosphere! Only had to wait about 10-15 minutes before a table opened up. We had a few rounds of beers and ordered poutine that was definitely not stingy on the cheese and gravy. This is a great local pub to check out if you're ever in Victoria. read more

The hostess/waitress was insanely rude to us. We went in to try and have a beer and were greeted by this person yelling at us to wait at the front. If you want people to wait at the front, then maybe have a sign or something indicating to wait to be seated. After this, my dad tried to go to the bathroom while we were waiting and she chased after him yelling at him to wait at the front. Wouldn't recommend going here. read more

Stopped in for breakfast in the middle of a storm that offered few open restaurant options. The coffee was good-- old school and strong -- and the food was good enough, but as breakfasts go, nothing out of the ordinary. The staff was friendly but understandably slow and overwhelmed given they were one of the only places open in the area. My main issue is that it was extremely loud and had that funk that comes with a bar during the day. The food was good. The drinks were good. After our table of 6 spent $400+ I was the last to leave. I was finishing up a business email to a client when I was asked to move. I had packed my food. Was finishing my drink. And I was asked to move to another table... I wasn't staying any longer. When I decided to 'Karen' or whatever some will say it, the manager didn't understand how the fact that the bill was payed why I would complain. I tried to explain it again. $400 plus the great tip, I guess, wasn't enough to let the clientele to finish their 'experience' without ruining it. Because there was one left, it's alright to tell them to move? I have been so excited for your business to come to victoria and then Covid hit. And I super advertised your business on my food and beverage page to give the business a boost for when you could finally open. And then I brought people to it multiple times to help support the local. ....and then this. I just can't believe how the people that encourage and support your business are treated that way. We paid our bill so the waitress could move on. The table was being cleared as it should. But when you clear the clients... I called the person that paid the bill when I was at my vehicle, he had only been gone for ten minutes. That means I was told to move 5 min after he left. The managers response left a sad taste in my mouth. I called my friend to make sure I wasn't out of line and he agreed. Train your staff and management better. You don't tell paying customers to move 5min after paying a bill. And you don't make them want to return when they talk to you about it, by making them not ever want to duplicate the experience. read more

Went here with a friend for a few drinks the other night, a partly of high spirited women from the North sat next to us and after a few laughs offered to buy us each a shot of what they were having so we happily accepted. The waitress asked to verify if indeed they wanted to treat us two, and the ladies said that yes they wanted to treat us each to a comradely drink. The waitress returned with drinks for the ladies but had "conveniently" forgotten ours. I then ordered a beer since I was now empty handed, and after waiting another twenty minutes for it to arrive I decided to leave the establishment. I was very loathe to pay for this "service" but my mate decided to foot the bill as I stormed off. I'm not sure what the servers issue was, but apparently she didn't approve of our neighbours befriending us. read more
