Stopped in for lunch while in Lake Jackson earlier this week. Found Big Thai on Yelp and decided to give them a try. Order the lunch portion of Red Curry with pork and my friend order the Garlic and Pepper with pork. The red curry was very flavorful and fresh, but the pork was a bit scarce. I got it "hot" but should have had the "Thai hot". My red curry was the "lunch" portion" size and it was little small, after seeing my friend's "regular size" I realized I should have order the "regular size" as it was only $3 more ($13 vs $16). Super impressed that Lake Jackson has a decent Thai restaurant. Grabbed lunch for takeout here on a weekday and I was pleased. I got the chicken pad thai lunch special, which was $9 (beef and shrimp are an additional $2 if you prefer those protein options). The pad thai was really good and had a deep peanuty flavor, which I really like in my Thai food. Flavor-wise, this was comparable to some of my fav Thai spots in Houston. One complaint I have for takeout lunch is that it doesn't include the side salad. I've had this before when dining in and was looking forward to it but unfortunately, the salads are strictly for dine-in. It's disappointing to me that you pay the same price for the lunch special in both the dine-in and takeout scenarios - the takeout just has less food (no side salad). I'm not sure if they somehow compensate by giving a slightly larger portion size but regardless, it's an off-putting impression that you're getting gipped when doing takeout. Another complaint I have is that I had to wait almost 10 minutes to get helped when I arrived at the hostess stand to pick up my food. Several waitstaff walked by but it wasn't until a good amount of time later that one of them actually acknowledged someone was waiting. Why all the hate for takeout customers!? DISAPPOINTED. With stellar reviews on Yelp and Google I'm thinking my experience will be similar. I ordered a ton of food to try because I'm in the area on a work assignment and my location doesn't have many food options. The shrimp roll appetizer 1/5. The rice paper it was fried in was soggy not crisp. The overall shrimp roll had no flavor even after pulling out the shrimp from its fried rice paper roll. Would not recommend. Coconut soup with chicken. Chicken is overcooked, the soup is very watery and although it is dense with mushrooms, chicken and some vegetable can't remember if bamboo shoots or green onions, it lacked flavor. I usually SLURP coconut soup but I sipped it like tea because I didn't want my money to waste. 1/5 would not recommend Ordered the garlic pepper chicken because the lady who took my order recommended it over Panang curry. Flavor is there and the beef is tender. But BEWARE the dish is filled with black peppercorns so that unexpected crunch can throw you for a loop. ESPECIALLY when you find some sliver of whatever you want to call what was embedded in my rice. Food here is always so delicious!!! I usually get the yellow curry but this time I tried pad pik and got it spicey and omg it was amazing!! Vegetables were crispy, chicken was tender and the spice in the sauce was Perfect! Always save room for coconut cake for desert! But come early for the cake cause they usually sell out of it. She allow a $12.99 salad cost her $150 a month worth of business from my girlfriend and myself! Being rude to me, I get it. Being rude to my girlfriend. Unacceptable. I will not tolerate it. I wouldn't go to this restaurant if it was the last place to eat on earth.. What would easily have been a situation where they compt a 12.99 salad and say the customer is always right even if they're wrong has now turned into a war that they will not win. They lost business and they got a bad review. Learn from your mistakes, Big Thia! You're the owner of your business and you treat customers this way? This little gem has a pretty good curry! I like it spicy. Like really spicy! I think they tone it down for Americans. Great flavor profile and the price for lunch was great. This is the ONLY Thai place within 40 miles so for the area they are good. I have had Authentic Thai from coast to coast and in my opinion this is TexThai. You know like Tex Mex. The flavors are lacking. The TomKha soup is good. The dumplings are good, but out of all things I've eaten here this is for the people who don't like the Thai Flavor/zesty flavors. read more

We ate here last night. We had 2 of the specials and a lard nar plus one dessert. I cant say enough about how good this place was. I was just a random pick. We love Thai but haven't found a place we really like since moving to the Houston area 8 yrs ago. Lard nar is my standard go to at a new Thai place. Customer service was good, portion size was good, food taste so bad! Thai tea taste weird, no tea flavor. Pad Thai has too much sauce, chicken was bland and tough. Pineapple rice has an overpowering cumin or turmeric smell (it was better than the pad Thai) and raisins don't go in fried rice. The calamari was bland and the dipping sauce too too sweet. This place was so far above any expectations I had. The inside is beautiful, the wait staff is prompt, polite, and incredibly accommodating. We came in with our two toddlers and the waiter was quick on his feet to make sure we had an ideal seating situation. We ordered the tom kha pot and honestly as a fat person I was already full after two little bowls of this. My husband, myself, and our two kids all had some everyone loved it and everyone was satisfied with the amount they received. We ordered the fish cakes, pad Thai, and chicken fried rice and the portions were large and were the so incredibly delicious. I didn't see chicken nuggets and fries for kids, BUT my kids ate with ZERO complaints. We were all sharing and tasting every dish because we couldn't get over how great everything tasted! We will be back even if it's a 45 minute drive to get there!! Update: Went again today, service and food were outstanding of course! We got the pad zee ew and the drunken noodles and fell in love!
