Very friendly and quick service and the food is good. They put WAY too much sauce on it though which kinda ruins the rest of the dish.

We found Yoi Mi on Yelp and decided to double-check with the front desk host at our RV resort. She…read moresaid she and her husband go there for date night every week, so that sealed the deal. This is a hibachi steakhouse, but don't expect the show. They cook everything in the back and bring it out to your table. It's tucked into a tiny strip mall, and honestly, we drove right past it the first time. The outside isn't much to look at, kind of a "blink and you'll miss it" vibe, but don't let that fool you. Inside is simple: some booths, some tables, and a cool sign on the wall with koi fish artwork and the name of the restaurant. It's low-key, but they're super friendly. We were greeted right away, drink orders taken fast, and our food came out quickly after that. I ordered a salad (not included with the meal but worth adding), and we got noodles as a shared side. They brought those out first like an appetizer. The yum-yum sauce was great, definitely not the bottled kind. I had the filet and shrimp hibachi dinner, which came with rice and vegetables. My husband had the filet dinner. Everything was cooked perfectly. The shrimp had a nice, light teriyaki flavor, and the steak was tender and flavorful. Dinner came to around $66 plus tip for both of us, really fair pricing for the quality. Bottom line: it's a hole-in-the-wall that knows what it's doing. If you're passing through Idaho Falls and craving hibachi without the tableside flair, this place is worth a stop. We'd absolutely go back.

JUST WOW........Would have given 10 stars if the system allowed it!!!…read more We were staying in the area and came here because it had the highest rated score for sushi on Yelp and let me tell you....it did NOT disappoint!!! Coming from California to visit in the area, we didn't have very high hopes for this place considering it's 12 hours to the nearest coast! Seafood in the middle of Idaho come on!! Not to mention the prices were so cheap I couldn't believe it! Heck there is Gas station sushi in Cali that cost more.... When we first walked in we were greeted by the nicest staff! VERY attentive and constantly keeping our glasses full, with the sushi continually coming to the table throughout the visit! There was an older gentleman who, I think was the owner, that visited our table maybe 4 times to ask if everything was ok and do whatever he could to make our visit memorable! Probably the BEST wait staff of any place we ate at in Idaho Falls!!! The building itself was nicely done matching any sushi place in California. Pretty good size and there were a lot of people eating here, but the service was so good they made their jobs look easy! Now onto the food...There really isn't anything I can say to convince you to visit except that EVERYTHING was AMAZING. My group had about 10 different rolls as well as appetizer choices and nigiri and I must say, ALL of it was better than the places back home!!! This place would be dangerous if we lived here, because I believe we would spend a good portion of my check here EVERY week!!! Rolls that stood out...DO NOT eat here without having a Snow Drop roll, holy cow that might be the best roll I've ever had at any sushi bar!!! The Dancing Eel roll was tremendous as well! The sauce that came on that sucker would be worth paying for enough to take a bath in, if you happen to be rich enough to afford it! Even the cheaper rolls that many places use as filler rolls were superbly elevated to a higher level! Also don't miss the deep fried rice topped with spicy tuna appetizer, it was phenomenal!!! We had two of those!!! Anyway in the end, both the staff and the food was AMAZING!! Who would have thought sushi in Idaho?!?! You have raised the bar above on ANY Cali similar restaurant. DO NOT MISS this place!!!! We will definitely be eating here again before we leave!! We will come back here again and again as you should toooooo!! I will post pictures after our next visit later in the week....

This was really bad. I took my two kids, the three of us absolutely love ramen and we're visiting…read morerexburg and thought we'd give it a try. We ordered two miso ramens and a garlic ramen and were severely disappointed. I don't know how they are making their ramen. It it is not tradition ramen - both the miso and garlic ramen were meant to be a tonkatsu base - I'm pretty sure they either left it out of my order entirely or they are using a shortcut to make the broth or packets? I was literally eating hot water with a garlic sauce in it. The noodle were processed to hell and overcooked... at least the gyoza in the ramen was okay - I'm assuming they got those from Costco. The takoyaki was okay as well. The tonkatsu was overcooked. The ramen was severely unbalanced and not a cohesive flavor. So I rarely complain - I dont want to be a Karen but in this instance I did ask the server if perhaps something was missing in the ramen (I was assuming tare or they forgot the tonkatsu). They looked at me confused saying they could remake it but that's how the order should have come. I was shocked - I'm sure if anyone sipped that broth they'd agree they can't sell that. It was also like 50 degrees in the restaurant, I didn't mind but my daughter was cold. The building is really dirty - like it's fine if it's an old building but in this case you can tell they don't care. Honestly if I could give zero stars if I could - these guys do deserve anyone's money at this time until an owner of someone with some real experience takes over. Very disappointed.

It didn't taste good. Soups should be hot but it was not hot at all. I was not satisfied at all.read more

The wife and I stopped in for lunch at Hokkaido because what's better than soup on a cold day, right? Having this be our first visit to Hokkaido, my wife ordered the spicy ramen, and I ordered the Tantanmen ramen, level 2. Oh, and unless you've got the appetite of a Bigfoot, you might want to skip the appetizers. Not that they're not good. You just won't need them. The real deal is coming. It might take a bit to get there, but man oh man was it authentic. This isn't your 6 for a dollar kind of ramen. There's lots of meat and veggies AND as much spice as you need to warm up the insides. If you've never had Japanese ramen, put away your fears and give Hokkaido a try. You won't regret anything other than it being your first time.

I have resulted in going to Hokkaido by the river. Every single time I've gone there. It has been terrible. The customer service is absolutely appalling. We were seated and waited I kid you not over 20 minutes just for our drink order. The place wasn't even busy. The host that sat us, walked around noticeably eating food and being on their phone when they could've taken orders etc. I go to the bathroom and there is not toilet paper nor hand soap and an astonishing amount of chemicals and cleaning supplies under the sink. There is also a door in the women's bathroom that has a trash can blocking the entrance which makes me uncomfortable. The food is no where near as good as the building on sunnyside and was missing different garnishes of my soup. Some of the staff were not friendly and did not seem interested or cared on how we were doing. Although I will say Wyatt helped us and was so kind and apologetic on the wait. He seemed to be the only one taking care of multiple tables. When the short haired individual was walking around aimlessly. Long story short. It used to be good but I've been to this location multiple times and it's the same result. Staff are careless and food is not the same.

We stopped in with a local friend who knew the folks owning and working here and ordered tons of items for us to try. We didn't try a sushi roll unfortunately, but it's just bc we had ordered so much already! We tried the beet salad, the ribs (delicious but a bit spicy), the tempura veggies which were SO good and fresh and crispy and only lightly breaded, the broccolini, edamame and the dumplings. So we really had almost everything we could except sushi. All was great and my husband, who is a big fan of pork dumplings, loved these a lot. He raved about them all the rest of the night. For dessert - I was torn between a few things but went with the standard homemade chocolate cheesecake and it was delicious. The crust was a sort of coconut deliciousness that I especially loved. Service was great and the inside is small, but very classy. Highly recommend if you are a sushi fan. Believe the owner is from Hawaii so there is a Hawaiian influence to the food.
