So an update on the original review. They have now blocked my account because I posted my review. I offered to send screenshots of my email account to show i never received any gift card from them but instead they chose to block my account. On August 9th 2020 customer appreciation day my boyfriend, his son and myself ordered 4 different poutine. Now the size was great, the amount of toppings looked great but the gravy that was a different story. The gravy wasn't hot enough to melt the cheese but that was not my real issue. My issue and the reason all 4 poutine went into the garbage was the gravy tasted burnt! Will be ordering again as every company has its off day and will also update review after round two as soon as that is. The price was not family friendly though. For 4 poutine it cost $57. read more

Don't take the negative reviews very seriously. This is one of the best poutines that I've ever had! (Just had it at the Airshow.) 1. The failing point for most other poutines is their limp and soggy fries. OTOH, Big Red uses top quality oil and keeps it sufficiently hot so that the fries are very crisp and very hot even after the cheese curds and gravy are applied. 2. A second failing point for most other poutines is their overly strong gravy. OTOH, Big Red uses a much gentler gravy that works well with both the fries and cheese. My only surprise was the lack of ketchup available to supplement the provided fare. But that's a very minor issue. Well done! read more

I scream, You scream, We all scream Poutine! When I saw this food truck, I knew I had to try it. This Food Truck ONLY produces poutine. Nothing Else. For the same price point, one can either get a regular poutine or one of their special poutines such as pulled pork or Italian. I purchased the regular poutine. The poutine was prepared promptly and was warm. The cheese curds were ample and sized appropriately for the portion. The curds tasted amazing! The gravy was warm and the consistency was perfect. Condiments such as ketchup, hot sauce, salt, pepper and vinegar are available. The portion looks deceptively small but since it's a rich dish it is quite filling perhaps even sharable. However, the price is a bit steep. read more

We love our Big Reds Poutine or Fries and Gravy. It's hard to find a good gravy and fresh cut fries. This is our go to treat.

I just Carmen Sandiego'ed these guys. Having very little web presence and being based in Mission - there's a fair chance I would never have stumbled upon this little poutine heaven had it not been for the Make It festival. In fact, I left Make It the last day without so much as a note or a photo to remind me who they were. But they mix four of my favourite things and therefore, are worth a few minutes of google investigation. One "Poutine Make It Festival" search later and ta da - my mystery food truck is found and now safely on the Yelpisphere for future reference. These guys do poutine. Nothing more, nothing less. And when you're running a one-item truck, that one item better be DAMN fine or else, you sir, are toast. Thankfully, Big Red gets a big thumbs up from this poutine-a-holic. They don't beat around the bush, this is poutine at it's simplest and I wouldn't have it any other way. $6 buys you enough for a day long food coma. But the most pleasant surprise of this most recent discovery was their Montreal Smoked Meat poutine. Why it's awesome: Unlike a lot of other trucks that would jack the price exorbitantly for meaty goodness, this add on is $1. Damn straight. The fries are crunchy, not overly salted. Plus one. They don't skimp on the cheese curds. They are REAL cheese curds. (Seriously people, shredded cheddar & gravy on fries does not a poutine make) Real montreal smoked meat. And again with the healthy portions. The folks that run this truck are lovely. Four delicious things smashed together with a smile gains a fandom from me. So why not the fifth star? Though this is a solid poutine choice - the gravy is not phenomenal. And that's my make or break for five star love. This isn't see fireworks, shut out the world while you eat food. But what it is, is damn good, heart stopping, gravy laden lunchables for a reasonable price. I will definitely keep an eye out for these guys next year at Make It. read more

Meh had this out of the food truck last night and honestly it wasn't bad but it wasn't amazing. Had the Italian sausage poutine and wouldn't order it again. Just found it to be very dull and boring. Basically 9$ for fries just isn't for me. read more

$5 for a poutine, and it's pretty good, as in beats the pants off the local fast food versions. Add-ons for $1-2, fresh fries not too salty but a little too greasy, just enough cheese curds, and good gravy - not the best gravy but definitely honest and tasty. Quick, service with a smile....I don't know if they're usually there, but the corner of Dewndney and 240th was where their food trailer was spied today, by the outpost liquor. read more

My good friend Peta and I found this truck outside the Make-It craft fair this weekend. There was no arm twisting needed to try the poutine since my first option for lunch was sold out at another cart. We both had the same basic poutine. My gravy was light, however, there was lots of it = amazing and fair french fry coverage. Her and I raced to see who could finish theirs first even though she had a head start. Prices for the portion were very fair = $5 = best deal compared to the other food cart options. I was served in a timely manner even though there was 10 people before us. read more

Waited in a big lineup at the Fort Langley food truck fair. They had run out of stuff and instead of telling people or putting up a sign, they let people wait in a 30 min lineup knowing they will have to buy whatever they have left. They also ran out of the proper trays and we're using smaller ones for the same price. read more
