Ya know, for a bus line I would say four stars is pretty impressive. In my experience busses are…read morekinda always a sh*tshow and this was comparatively pretty great. The things I loved: -they support e-tickets!! This may seem like a no brainer, but as Ithaca busses go, believe me it's not. I thought this made the process wayyy easier. - the outlets on board actually work!! Again, not as much of a given as you'd think. -your spot is reserved. They make you buy a ticket based on bus time, so no matter where you are on line, you'll get on the bus. The sh*tshowy part: -the "bus station" which I think is the pharmacy?? Is closed... so online is pretty much your only option to purchase tickets. -they stop at Binghamton on the way to New York. Every other bus service also does this, but the others at least let you know in advance. Would love to see a truly direct bus route. -there are ~technically~ two buses per day to New York, but the later is a 10 hour ride due to some confusing layovers... so there's really only one bus a day. Not sure if this is a Covid development but the inconvenience cannot be overstated. Last thing for the high-stress people like me: there is only one place that the Greyhound departs from in Ithaca, on Green Street in front of Urban Outfitters. It's a little unclear on the website, but here's your confirmation that you're in the right spot take a deep breathe.

The kind that hasn't been cleaned in forever, has broken tools and equipment that should have been fixed or thrown out long ago, and doesn't have the faintest inkling of what a power grid is. Can we talk about how unpleasant it can get in a building that has no air conditioning in the afternoon Ithaca sun on a day that gets well into the 90s? Or how sketchy the bathrooms are, where one of the toilet stalls is taped up with a note indicating that it's out of order and there's no toilet paper in it? Or how one sink has -no- running water, and the other sink is marginally better... but good luck finding hand soap or paper towels. The sole attendant was "helpful" in the most basic way: he greeted us, then pointed to the door through which we'd be boarding our bus after we explained we were waiting on our return trip back to NYC. Helpful, indeed... considering all of the -two- doors one could choose from. I tried coming up with any transit hub (is that even a relevant term for what this place is?) that's shoddier. Nope. Not coming up with a thing. Fail.

Driver was clearly on some type of substance or alcohol because he would yell and everyone for talking while the bus was silent. He clearly was hearing things. The bus we were on left the New York Port Authority at 2:20 pm with stops in Neeark, Binghamton and Syracuse. The bus number is 87248. This man clearly shouldn't be behind the wheel of any vehicle especially being responsible for many passengers. VERY disrespectful and very disappointing. We will never be riding with Greyhound again and I STRONGLY suggest you dont either.

The first bus driver on the attached trip from Syracuse to NYC did a great job; he was polite, helpful, and handles difficult passengers well. There was however an issue with the ticket; 1. I was never told I was transferring to a Coach line nor did it say that anywhere on the ticket. 2. The Coach line bus left at 6:50pm not 7:50pm like it says on the attached itinerary; Daylight Saving Time glitch in your software? 3. The above issues caused me have to sprint through the bus station as I almost missed the bus. Not a fun/easy thing to do when you are over 45! 4. I was not told there is no bus station in my destination city nor was I provided a list of stops. The Coach Line bus driver was beyond inappropriate. * He scolded me for not knowing there was no bus station, and refused to provide a list of stops + was not familiar with the area. * He tried to let me off a the first stop, after informing him I got a text message advising me where to get off, he yelled at me, scolding me for not informing him sooner i.e. "YOU ARE SUPPOSE TO KNOW THIS- YOU WASTE ME TIME!!!" etc etc (he ranted) I expected a much higher level of service from your company, and I am quite disappointed. Perhaps the first/Greyhound bus driver should be promoted to trainer. Jamal will make sure you have a horrible experience…read more On our trip with my family from New York to Rochester on Train 49, we went to the café car around 8:00 PM and encountered one of the worst customer service experiences I've ever had. Jamal, who was working in the café car, became immediately hostile toward me over a very minor situation. I simply moved a small bag of potato chips inside a box that I was paying for so a bottle of water would fit. Instead of calmly addressing it, Jamal got aggressive, confrontational, and stood in my face as if he was ready to start a fight. His behavior was paranoid and escalated quickly for no reason. I told him there was no need to be hostile or have an attitude, at which point he told me to sit down and refused to serve me at all. His behavior was extremely unprofessional, intimidating, and inappropriate--especially while dealing with passengers and families. I genuinely felt unsafe during the interaction. Based on his behavior, it appeared that Jamal may have been under the influence of drugs or alcohol, or otherwise unfit to be working with the public at that time. This experience completely ruined what should have been a normal train ride. Amtrak seriously needs to address how this employee interacts with passengers, because no customer should ever feel threatened or disrespected like this.

Wow. It has taken me 2 weeks to try to think of how to review this service. If there was a…read morenegative star rating, I would have chosen it. Here it goes: 1) The car is neither luxurious nor comfortable. The body is rusted. The interior is dirty. The console in front of the seat is broken and stuffed with a dirty pillow. The handles on all of the doors on the inside are broken. The doors can't be opened from the inside (which is super-creepy with a driver like Orlando). The car beeps for 3 minutes every 20 minutes or so, but Orlando assures you that there is no problem. I am not sure that the seatbelts in the back work (it's ok with Orlando because it's "legal"). The car shudders when it goes over 50 MPH. The 4th, 5th, and 6th people of your party have to climb over a seat into a raised seat with barely enough room for three (we are small people--all less than 160 lbs). 2) Orlando is offensive. Within 5 minutes of starting our trip, Orlando had succeeded in offending everyone in our party--Canadians, Drivers of Subarus, Democrats, Physicians. Orlando never stops talking, and it is not about the area and local attractions or what to look for. He lectured the car about how doctors are criminals who prescribe medications that people don't need--such as insulin for diabetes. "All you need to do is take large doses of cinnamon." You can cure cancer by,"mixing Flax oil in cottage cheese. Its a well known fact. It's on the google." 3) You will feel like Orlando's prisoner. We were a group that likes conversation. We usually have to keep two members of our party from chatting too much. Orlando talked non-stop the entire trip. We were taking turns sitting in the front seat next to him to share the burden. We ended our trip one hour (and one winery) early just to be able to get out of his car. Some of the topics that Orlando pontificated on: his past employment for the government--"I can't tell you what I did. They asked me to fake my death, but I wouldn't do it; so I had to quit." He also told us about the buried UFOs as big as a football field in the desert. He also commented on how there are, "so many democrats that you could bury them." I am not sure what that was in reference to. 4) Despite the number of times that Orlando will tell you about his 28 years of experience, he is not all that knowledgeable. I had been planning this trip to the Finger Lakes for many months as a birthday celebration for my wife. I had carefully selected wineries that I wanted to visit. Right after getting into the car, he argued with me about my choices and asked me if, "you know anything about this area?" and then told me that it would be impossible to include Ravines in our itinerary as the Winery is in Geneva. I told him that there was a tasting room on Keuka lake, and he said, "I don't know anything about that." I had to tell him that I was confident in my itinerary and essentially argue with him to accept it. I don't think that visiting three wineries and having lunch between 1030 AM and 6 PM is too much to ask. In the end we were dropped off at 5 PM. In summary if you are looking for a knowledgeable, friendly driver in a safe comfortable vehicle for a relaxing day touring the amazing Finger Lakes wineries, DO NOT BOOK WITH Orlando. However, if you are seeking a nightmare version of Carpool Karaoke, but instead of James Corden driving you around in a nice car with pleasant conversation, you want an ignorant, rude, offensive, conspiracy theorist driver with verbal diarrhea and a dirty unsafe and uncomfortable ride, then Orlando and Finger Lakes Transport and Tours is for you.
