Though not a large seafood section, everything is clean and well stocked. Large, wide aisles allow for great traffic flow. Time of day has large effect on how efficient your experience can be. I find early mornings are best even though restocking is taking place. Sunday's and evenings are the worst. Lots of people and longer lines. However, management does a wonderful job at opening lanes as needed. Also, sale items that start on Thursday can sell out quickly and you have to wait until a truck comes in or get a rain check. Cakes in the bakery are delicious. I have ordered many over the years and never been disappointed. Deli has numerous soups, fried chicken, chicken sandwiches, rotisserie chicken, hot sides, etc. They also are super at platter orders and picnic orders. Restrooms up front and are not very nice. Small and outdated. Pharmacy area is small but gets the job done. They also have a walk up window on exterior. Redbox machines can be found just near the entrance. The number one feature of the whole store is the people that work there. Everyone is friendly and helpful. The are attentive to your needs and work to make compromises when they are out of a product or you are dissatisfied. They go well above and beyond with their customer service--- from the management all the way to the stock person.

Right now, they have Florida strawberries for $1.50 with a clipped coupon, asparagus for $2.50 a pound, and cherry tomatoes for $1.50 a container. All of these prices beat Meijer.... So all of the old reviews that mention Marsh don't apply to this newer store, now called Needler's Fresh Market. I don't know -- I think Needler's is pretty good! It has a little bakery on site (Lemon's Bakery Cafe), which has hot food and baked goods, with seating by big windows that overlook Mass Ave. Beyond the cafe, the rest of the joint is a small grocery store. You'll find a modest produce section with fresh-looking greens and fruit and things. They sell house-made hummus and sushi. The wine section is abysmal, but I did find a bottle of one of my cheapie low-key favorite bottles of Malbec here, so I picked that up. The dried ramen section is also better than it needs to be. The prices seem to be about the same as Kroger and other grocery stores. Checkout was quick and there were several registers open. The only thing is that I entered through the cafe and exited by the registers, so I got a little turned around once I exited. Keep in mind that you can only enter/exit through the cafe at certain hours. They lock that door after a particular time. (I think it's 5 or 6 p.m.)

This guy, (Adam maybe?), is a durn genius! He helped us once with finding a very sharp and tangy cheese. Next time we told him we are doing an au gratin potatoe and he pulled up a greener cheese that just sent it thru the roof. I hope you are paying these people very well as they can make a huge impact upon the food your customers are serving! We now have a place that can supply the cuts of meat we want, the accompanying cheese we need, and we greatly appreciate all the wonderful service these people provide!

I'm writing this review mainly because I hope management sees it. Two things keep this from being a 5-star experience for me. First, sale pricing. I would estimate that around 80% of the time I buy something advertised as on sale, the discount doesn't ring up correctly. That makes it hard to shop with confidence. Second, I really, really, really wish the store had self-checkout lanes. Partly so customers can easily verify prices as they scan items, but mainly because I've noticed some food-handling habits at checkout that are concerning. For example, I once bought hot bar food (which you open and eat right away), and the cashier was eating crackers with both hands so fast you'd have thought those crackers owed her money while ringing up my ready to eat, while the bagger was picking at her lip gloss with her fingers. That's not what most people expect when handling ready-to-eat food. I've also seen cashiers lick their fingers before counting cash back. That is gross. For both of us. Having worked in banks, I could horrify you telling you in detail how disgustingly dirty is money. After the lip picking incident I haven't been buying as much hot bar and that's bad for me and bad for their business. Self-checkout would help avoid all those issues and make an already good store perfect. Its not the cheapest place in town but it could be the best. If pricing accuracy improves and self-checkouts are added, this would easily be a 5-star grocery store for me.
