I made an emergency appointment with this vets office and we were half an hour…read morelate because there was construction and a oversize load couldn't get under the bridge so we sat in traffic for half an hour walked into the office with my dying dog and they told me I need to reschedule !!! needless to say I left the clinic and brought him to another clinic and he passed away that afternoon!! worst experience I have ever been through and the most unsympathetic people the vet didn't even have whatever the compassion to come out and check on my animal they just had the receptionist. Tell me that they have to reschedule. The dog was like a limp ragdoll in my arms they could care less.!! absolutely disgusting you should be in that field because you care about animals not because you care about going to your lunch break !! Forgot to mention I called them when I was sitting in traffic and let them know. I was gonna be late and they told me that would be fine. When you arrive, you are to leave your pet inside your vehicle and go inside to register for a spot in line. Arrive early to avoid being there a long while! Once they are ready they will call your phone to tell you it's time to enter. Everyone was very friendly! After weighing my pup then we were led to a room where I stayed as they took him to have his heart worm test. When he came back then we waited a while before the doctor came in for his examination. You can buy the shots individually or pay an office visit fee to also get an examination which is what I did l. The doctor was friendly and seemed to have an expansive knowledge of different breeds. We were there a total of two hours and again it would have been longer had I not gotten there early. We will be returning as the overall fees were reasonable and much lower than our previous vet.

I…read moremade an appointment with his regular vet only to be told, at the time I arrived, that she was no longer with that practice. Cleo did not like the new vet, growled, barked and snapped at her when she approached to examine him. Cleo would not settle down to allow her close to him. She seemed visibly shaken and genuinely afraid of him. I ended that visit and decided to take him to Dr. Portwood at Danville Veterinary hospital. Dr. Portwood was known to me previously as one who treated one of my foster dogs a couple of years before. Upon arrival at DVH, Cleo and I were instantly put at ease by the tech who took us to the exam room. I explained our experience in Brownsburg, and the tech responded appropriately, attempting to calm and put Cleo, and myself, at ease. She was calm, nonthreatening and professional. When Dr. Portwood entered, Cleo hackled a tiny bit and Dr. Portwood immediately took a nonthreatening stance and sat on the floor. She and the tech both spent a few minutes just sitting with us, offering Cleo treats and soothing voices as we discussed the reason for the visit and generally made him feel comfortable and chilled out. Cleo soon settled down, taking treats from their hands and laid down and put his paw on Dr. Portwood's knee. She was then able to perform the exam and administer his vaccine without incident. I understand that stress flows down the leash and that I was probably, at least in part, responsible for Cleo's adverse reaction at the first vet. I was taken by surprise that our original vet was gone and switched with a new vet, who had poor approach skills. I was very happy to have Dr. Portwood and her tech take the time to make the patient (and his mom) comfortable before jumping in to do the exam. Well done ladies, very well done. You are now Cleo's 'regular' vet from here on out. Thank You!

My 10-year-old cat Gus had his first appointment at Healthy Paws this morning. While we aren't…read moreexcited about his diagnosis, we were both pleased by the professionalism and friendliness of the staff and the level of care he received. I made the appointment earlier this week, and they were able to get Gus in right away with a time that worked with my schedule. I also liked that they requested his previous vets' information so that they could go ahead and get his records. We arrived about 15 minutes early to his appointment (I wasn't sure if there would be anything I needed to fill out), and they got him into a room right away and he didn't have to be stressed about being around other animals. The vet and tech were clear about what tests were needed and how much each would cost, and I was asked what I felt comfortable doing today (I went ahead and did it all). I didn't feel any pressure from them, which I really appreciated. The testing wasn't fun for Gus, but they were great with him and he loved the Churu! The vet did an excellent job delivering the diagnosis and going over the next steps, and she explained all the medical stuff at my non-medically trained level. Part of Gus' treatment includes switching to a prescription diet, and they sent us home with a week's worth of food to get Gus started until I get his food ordered. Another part of his plan is to get an ultrasound, and they called me less than an hour after we left to get it scheduled for next week. Again, we aren't happy about his diagnosis, but we are grateful to have caught it so early and that we have Healthy Paws to partner with in his care.
