My favorite Poke place in New England. They have the freshest toppings, and the tuna is great quality.

Street Parking Great spot for poke that's not in the city (Boston) located right in downtown Lowell. The interior has bright colors around and station where you can order and choose items similar to subways. There is a small seating are by the door as well. The workers here are really nice and have great proportions. You have options of how many scoops you want. Each scoop you can choose the type of protein you want with unlimited toppings but some toppings are an extra cost. I always get the crispy wonton skins, I think they used to have crispy balls but they don't anymore. There are pre made options but I prefer making my own and putting whatever I like on there. The 2 scoop I got was around $20 but it was enough for myself and to share. read more

Big Poke is the only create-your-own poke joint in Lowell! It's located on the bustling street in the downtown area. The interior is colorful and bright, big ole Hawaiian vibe mural. Parking kiosk downtown. Here's the thing, Yelp has a way of reeling me in with their photo. And to my disappointment, they no longer have those big containers for the trio+ scoops. Just flimsy plastic dinky ones that can barely hold two scoops of rice, protein, and toppings for over $12. Same prices as Boston, or a couple of towns over in Westford for a big full round bowl of poke goodness vs these small containers! Just saying. Aloha Bowl- 2 scoops of sushi white rice, spicy ahi, huli huli chicken, island mac. The chicken is fine, I like the mac. The spicy ahi was good! Came here to try out their poke bowls, so glad I did! It was very refreshing and all of the flavors went really well together. I got the Hawaiian classic duo, which I would definitely recommend ! It comes with two scoops of rice, ahi shoyu, and salmon shoyu. I didn't get the kimchi on the side because I can't tolerate spicy! I god the macaroni salad instead and that was delicious! Great bowls, choice of protein, interesting veggies. I had just come from the National Park and wanted a quick lunch on my way back to the car. It was delicious. First, a regular size is only one scoop of protein?! At most places it's usually two scoops for regular and three for large. Also all the toppings that I wanted was extra $$ when in comparison to other poke places they would cost the same as the other toppings (for instance seaweed salad). The taste itself was good but nothing exceptional. Ambiance 3 Nothing out of the ordinary in terms of ambiance. Just a standard place with a good amount of seating Service 4 Service was good and the person was extremely helpful in helping me pick the sauce that goes best with the toppings I chose Trendsetter 2 Offers your pretty typical poke toppings. Just okay - Hard to find good poke in this area so keeping that in mind. I had my hopes up for this place since I saw they had Mac salad and Hawaiian soda so thought it might be more authentic. Food - poke is good quality, disappointed that the rice was just regular rice and not sushi rice. The Mac salad was not Hawaiian style and wasn't very flavorful. Spam musubi was okay... not as good as ones I can make myself and I'm terrible at cooking , but didn't taste bad... Price - pretty expensive considering the amount of sushi you get. Also the prices on Grubhub are super inflated making ordering less enticing. Overall this is better than the other poke place I tried in this area but is still too expensive for the quality/quantity of food you actually get. read more

Ordered 2 bowls and 2 drinks, total was around $31. The aloha bowl is a part of their specials. The huli huli is super good, definitely would get it again. For the second bowl, I got the 2 choice with 2 scoops of white rice, ahi shoyu, spicy salmon, island Mac salad and crab salad. The ahi shoyu is also really good and full of flavor, definitely would get this again. The fish is very fresh and portions are perfect, very filling. The food is outstanding, friendly service, and a chill atmosphere. I got the large meal, and It did not disappoint portion and quality-wise. Used to love this place, work in Lowell and used to have it at least once, sometimes twice a week. I have attempted to stop by 5 times over the past month (all within the hours they posted that they are open and every single time they have been closed, with no explanation. They have not changed their hours online or on the door. Their preset voicemail when you call does not even offer an explanation as to why they have such terrible inconsistent hours. I have even seen employees inside ignoring people outside looking for an explanation as to why they are not open or when they will be again. Horrible way to run a business. read more

I just want to say that Big Poke has the BEST poke I've ever had. From the freshness of the fish, to the flavor, the perfect consistency of sushi rice, DONT EVEN GET ME STARTED ABOUT THE GOCHU SHOYU, it's always a 10/10 from us. My partner and I drive from Boston to get this Poke literally any chance we get. We've literally debated moving to Lowell to be closer to this restaurant so that we can enjoy it more often because I would in fact eat it multiple times per week and probably die from mercy poisoning but I'd be able to die happy with a stomach full of big poke read more

My first time in Lowell and one of my top destinations was definitely Big Poke. So glad I got to try because it's the MOST AUTHENTIC I've had in the East Coast. Their "Island Mac" is BOMB and I got to try the Hawaiian Sun drink and it was so good!! I made my own combo that picks 2 bases, 2 protein, and 2 sides, as well as crunch and sauce. I love that they have quinoa brown rice as an option! Their variety is very on point. Not even Boston has these many options and flavors as this place does! I've been here a few times, and only once did I see other people eating in the store. Each time has been a very filling and yummy experience. So don't let the empty store front scare you, as people may be ordering items for take out like I do! The format is the usual Poke Style, so if you've been to other places, it's the same format. They charge by the scoop for the protein and the many of the toppings are unlimited. There are premium items that will have an up-charge so be weary of that. If you're not sure what to get, they do have pre-selected options so they can build your Poke quickly. Or, you can do your own selections with scoops. The portions are a very size, so they're not skimping on the scoops on the portions. The sauces are fun too. It's fresh and everything is made to order. read more

Customer service was great, the guy assembling the bowl was nice and gave good recommendation, also very friendly. I love how they make it very presentable, we all eat with our eyes first! The playlist was early 2000 rnb/hiphop, was great to listen to while eating and the atmosphere was very bright and welcoming. This is probably one of the best poke places I have been to in general. Good place to stop for a quick bite and not wait too long for it. They have 3 options between 1, 2, and 3 choices per plate. I ordered the 2 choice with white rice as the base, ahi shoyu & shrimp as protein, island mac & green tea noodles as a side, green onions as a topping, and sweet soy glaze & sweet shoyu & spicy aioli as the sauce. I feel like you can make any combination and it will still be amazing! The portion was a great size and super filling. The ahi shoyu was the star of the bowl and it was fantastic! After coming here a few times I can for sure say I love having a Poké spot in DT Lowell! Very fair pricing and great portion sizes, 2 choice box is super satisfying. Awesome options for fish; I have been able to try most of their fish options and love their Shoyu and Spicy Salmon or Tuna. They have a lot of toppings and side choices, you get 2-3 side options depending on the box you choose, and pay $1 for extra "premium" sides, like kimchi or seaweed salad, but my favorite are the mac salad and green tea noodles. For toppings I choose: edamame, ginger, tobiko, pineapple, quail eggs, and a bit of mixed greens. They also have tasty sauces, my go to are: gochu shoyu, sweet shoyu, and the citrus shoyu! I'm not an expert on poke. Having come here to have my second ever poke bowl I felt that this one blew my first out of the water. My first was somewhere in Virginia and it was lacking. This one had so many choices and toppings and was overall tasty. I finished my portion satisfied. I got half white and half brown rice as a base to my Classic Hawaiian special. It was great. Honestly this was my first time trying Poké in Lowell! I know this place just opened in November, but let me tell you guys it's so worth it to come in! The place is wicked cute, atmosphere very welcoming. It's a nice place if you want quality time with a friend or significant other with some kind faces. When I came in the owner (I think) greeted us and guided us through the menu, recommended a few items and even allowed me to take samples of anything to see if I'd like it before I put it on my bowl. He was very patient with us and he had great vibes! I got a big poke bowl with some extra items, a little spam wrap with white rice and nori wrapping with a drink and it all costed about $20 now don't let this price scare you! I'm telling you, the portions were perfect for the price and I couldn't even finish my meal! And to whoever said they do not give out to go bags, definitely lied. I got this blue bag, extra chopsticks napkins and more when I was ready to go! They are very kind, and provide some really delicious and fresh product. I recommend the ahi shoyu and any of their spicy salmon or ahi tuna. I didn't try the shrimp but my best friend told me it was delicious and everything is a perfect amount of spicy! Not too hot, but definitely a kick! You can tell they make their food with love. Don't miss out on this place guys! Very healthy fresh food with some good people. Plus, their island Mac is SOOOO GOOD!!
