***BRING CASH!!!! Big Orange Pumpkin at Preston Trail Farms is WORTH THE DRIVE!!! We drive 55min one way every year to visit the Big Orange Pumpkin farm. As far as Pumpkin Patches go this is the best one for the cost. $12/person gets you entrance + one small pumpkin from patch + feed for petting barn + hayride + feeding & touching animals in the roping pen and the hay maze We take photos all over at the fun photo-ops set up throughout the patch. We take our time feeding all the animals, petting the longhorns and laughing at the goats as they jump all over one another. We make our way to the hay maze where we take turns racing through it or sending the kids through while timing them. It's not a difficult hay maze but they have fun going through it over and over. The hayride is silly, slow and is usually chilly, but it's a fun experience and there's a silly story along the way. We pack lunches, so someone runs to the car to grab those while the rest of us spread out at a table and then we all enjoy lunch together before picking our pumpkins and heading home. A FEW TIPS: -Try and get there shortly after they open so you miss the field trip groups and large crowds. -Pack lunches! There are quite a few picnic tables outdoors and a few indoors you can spread out and eat at. Food is also available to purchase indoors. -Bring cash!!! You'll be charged a large fee to use a credit card for entry -Wear boots or shoes you don't mind getting dirty -Bring a coast - the wind picks up, especially on the hayride. read more

We drove an hour to visit this pumpkin farm, and we're so glad we did! It was opened later than most and has all the great attractions you'd hope for--a large pumpkin patch, maze, hayride, a great petting zoo with longhorns and a cool outdoor patio for adults to hang out as well as picnic tables for families. And the entire staff was soooo friendly and helpful! Well worth the trip! We'll be back! read more

This is a nice pumpkin farm and fun for the kids, However, it is ridiculously expensive. It costs $8 per person including kids over 2 years. That does NOT include a pumpkin with that price on the weekends. If you go during the weekday you will receive a tiny pumpkin. They do have a decent assortment of pumpkins, but, they are expensive. My family of 6 spent $83 for entrance and a few pumpkins. That is crazy! Unless they lower their admission fee, We won't be going back. There are less expensive pumpkin patches to visit. Tucker Hill off of 380 in Mckinney has a cute pumpkin patch that has FREE admission. read more

For $8/person, it is pricey...and not too many pumpkins, either. Only cows, sheep, goats, 1 chick ...my kids asked, where is there only 1 chick? I said they ate it all. Mostly empty soil. The Flowermound pumpkin patch is better and it's only $1/person plus $5 parking. read more

LOVE this farm...great fun for the kids!! Feeding the animals, riding on the tractors, having a picnic, looking for Farmer Bill...this can be a perfect day with simple easy kid-friendly activities. They say they're open year round but I've only been there in October during pumpkin season and enjoyed every minute of it. read more

I found it to be worth the money, but I agree that you want to get there early and avoid the crowds. We got there at opening; the kids were able to ride the little train and hayride without waiting in line. By the time we left...perhaps two hours later, there were lines. read more

I take my grandkids to the pumpkin farm every year it is well worth it! They love the train ride on the weekends! I have had my grand daughters birthday party out there the last three years and it was real reasonable priced all kids had a blast! It was nice not having to bring anything except the cake! read more

This was a fun little drive from Dallas and a cute farm. The weekends you receive a coupon for a hot dog and do not get a free pumpkin, which is kinda a bummer. The hayride was cute and the petting zoo had an abundance of goats and cows. Prices were reasonable and I would return again, but earlier in the season. Right now they only have pie pumpkins with a few decorative pumpkins. read more

Tonight we visited the Big Orange Pumpkin Farm and had a blast! Our 2 year old loved the hay ride, petting zoo, and hay maze! Such a beautiful farm with lots to do! read more

My family loved this pumpkin farm. We did get lost on our drive there ( due to the wrong address being entered), but we called and spoke with Melissa the owner and she gave us directions to get there. :) When we arrived the gentleman at the front was very friendly talked to my husband about football and told us to ride the hayride first, at first glance the hayride looks short but it is quite long and the have scenery and a story to keep your interest. My son loved the animals and when it was time for us to pick a pumpkin the owner helped us choose the right one. She was willing to take family photos and suggest photo ops. I love supporting family owned businesses that love what they do and have great customer service, and I can honestly say The Big Orange Pumpkin Farm is that type of business. read more

Gunter location is missing everything the Celina location had. It is a complete waste of time and gas!

Went to buy pumpkins with 19 yr old granddaughter. The pumpkins were old..no top stems and quite pricey. When we asked if the 19 yr old could just go see the petting zoo we were told "it will still b $8". WE LEFT. VERY DIASPPOINTED IN QUALITY AND MOSTLY IN ATTITUDE. WENT TO STORYBOOK RANCH INSTEAD. read more

This little pumpkin patch is awesome! My boys had a great time feeding the animals, going on the hayride, and finding their way through the hay maze! They had lots of nice looking pumpkins to choose from and super friendly employees. We will be looking forward to visiting them next year! read more

What a cute farm! We went on a weekday to avoid the crowds and were not disappointed: hay rides, tall hay maze, farm animals & a free small pumpkin from the field. Definitely worth the drive & the $8/person. We'll be back next fall. read more

We had a wedding at this location in the barn behind the pumpkin farm. I would like to warn any future brides that the managing family is unable to successfully run this as a party/wedding venue. I was told point blank that I should not expect the hay rides to cease longer 20 minutes while we held the ceremony outside by the pond . In fact the point was made that their priority is the pumpkin farm and not the wedding venue. We did not have any support from management during set up and the resulting wedding /reception time. Any help we needed with things like coffee makers, projectors, etc., we were on our own to solve. Beware! This venue is far more work intensive than it appears and leaves a lot to be desired, good thing we have many good friends who were willing to help out when the bar tenders and servers were 30 minutes late and hors d'ourvres had begun. read more

Went on 10-10-2016. Huge crowds---hardly any staff in the eating area. Cost a lot for 2 adults and 2 small children to get in, and then close to $35 for lunch. We waited in line approximately 25 minutes to order lunch, and then waited approximately 45 minutes at the table just to get 2 BBQ sandwiches, french fries and hot dogs for the kids. We were told at the food line (when we ordered) that they had no hamburgers or chicken available, and that the hot dogs would be on bread because there were no buns. It was incredibly expensive and not worth the time. It was sad that so many people had to wait so long to eat, and they had the nerve to charge full price. I think they should have come to the tables and refunded the money. We were not told how long we would have to wait for the food. It was a long drive to get there, and then no explanations from the staff (or refunds) about how unprepared they were for the crowds. Did not see anything going on at the farm that would make me want to come again. read more
