It was extremely packed with people on a Friday at 10 AM. Everyone was really courteous. (Lots of bumping into one another). What impressed me more than anything else; People were actually kind to one another. Wow! Lots of people using walkers and wagons. How they walked/tackled the uneven dirt was impressive. Kudos to y'all. Only a few "people traffic jams". Just have to learn to navigate those! It's free parking and approximately 12$ per person entrance fee. Lots of staff to help with parking. Shout out to Joe Cuellar once again for providing fantastic music! Take a photo at the entrance as proof you already paid. This way you can walk your purchases back to your car! Plus with a picture you can return all weekend for this event! That's a win in my book. Multiple food vendors! And like anywhere, never enough restrooms. I pre-purchased my tickets months in advance. I will tell you this venue will over-kill you with emails and texts. They sell their tickets for the event through Huminex. It's too much. Specially, if you already bought your tickets. Multiple sellers, my understanding is that it is difficult to get into this show as a seller. I certainly miss when some of my favorites are not here. I miss the soaps, balsamic vinegar, crafters, and true vintage sellers. Please bring cash to these events. It runs smoother when you do! Some will even give discounts for cash sales. ***BRING CASH!!!!…read more Big Orange Pumpkin at Preston Trail Farms is WORTH THE DRIVE!!! We drive 55min one way every year to visit the Big Orange Pumpkin farm. As far as Pumpkin Patches go this is the best one for the cost. $12/person gets you entrance + one small pumpkin from patch + feed for petting barn + hayride + feeding & touching animals in the roping pen and the hay maze We take photos all over at the fun photo-ops set up throughout the patch. We take our time feeding all the animals, petting the longhorns and laughing at the goats as they jump all over one another. We make our way to the hay maze where we take turns racing through it or sending the kids through while timing them. It's not a difficult hay maze but they have fun going through it over and over. The hayride is silly, slow and is usually chilly, but it's a fun experience and there's a silly story along the way. We pack lunches, so someone runs to the car to grab those while the rest of us spread out at a table and then we all enjoy lunch together before picking our pumpkins and heading home. A FEW TIPS: -Try and get there shortly after they open so you miss the field trip groups and large crowds. -Pack lunches! There are quite a few picnic tables outdoors and a few indoors you can spread out and eat at. Food is also available to purchase indoors. -Bring cash!!! You'll be charged a large fee to use a credit card for entry -Wear boots or shoes you don't mind getting dirty -Bring a coast - the wind picks up, especially on the hayride.

The park itself is fairly small with several trail loops to explore. Go thru the gate and grab a pass from the main area where you may also park. They will give you a trail map as well as tell you a bit about the trails in terms of where to start, etc! They also had a really fun cooking class in the morning right on the lake. Super unexpected but awesome! Apparently they do lots of trail events often to check online to see what is going on. Bring your tent or RV and you can camp out right on the water. Cheap kayaks are available for rent as well. Since it is so hot you need to start early and/or bring plenty of hydration for your adventure. This was a great way for me to start my weekend and really set the tone for a serenity kind of Saturday! Go check out downtown Bonham for shopping and lunch right after. Rangers are always on duty and they truly take pride in this incredible park.

I don't know if it was because of the hot and humid weather (end of September) -- we'd set up camp at the end of a major shower -- or if that's just the norm but if you rent a campsite in the upper teens (16, 17, etc.) expect to see dozens if not hundreds of spiders on a regular basis. If you rent the lower number sites (12, 11, etc.), you won't see hardly any "wildlife." My group of 5 rented 2 sites (5 adults, 4 dogs, 3 cars, 2 nights, and 1 "oh Lawd, why" moment) so I had the pleasure of experiencing both extremes. Restrooms and showers are a short 3min walk from the camp sites and are very well maintained. My only complaint is there's very little airflow in the women's room so expect to sweat even while watering the pool. The campsites are even better. There's an outlet box to plug in all of your necessities and a water spigot. Picnic table and little hanging poles to dry your towels. Everything you need is right there. Our neighbors were quiet for the most part with the occasional "too loud after 10pm" moment and 1 neighbor who wouldn't answer his 4am alarm until it had gone off for a good 5min haha! Some activities include swimming in the lake, renting paddle boats, renting fishing gear, and hiking. We hiked the "Gnarly Root Trail" and boy the only thing gnarly about it was again, the spiders. The ground looked like it was moving and the path is 1-person wide so if you're with friends, don't expect to carry on a conversation. The trail markers were a bit confusing and we had to double back once to make the correct turn but it was a pretty decent and simple 1.5mi hike. My friends had a great experience with the paddle boat rentals and it wasn't until we were leaving that we realized we could've rented fishing gear, too (darn!). Other factors, there was a burn ban that weekend and we didn't realize it until the park manager told us (it was pouring rain when we arrived so we didn't see the sign). But he was super cool about it and let us extinguish it without penalty. That's another great thing: the park managers truly care and make sure everyone is having a great time and are safe. The evening of our check in, he stopped by and gave us the lowdown on how things work, some tips, and answered any questions we had. Overall, this is a great park and I'd definitely return for another camping trip when the weather cools off.

None of the guys are avid paintballers, so we needed to rent all the equipment in addition to buying paintballs. Mac was very helpful and accommodating as I figured out what package we wanted to get. The guys all had a phenomenal time. The ref was involved, but not over-the-top or anything. It was a fun, professional atmosphere, and we will definitely do more events there! The stage placement and arrangement is amazing and gives the spot so much character as they are able to do wonders with the stage! I recently took my daughter to see James and the Giant Peach and we had an amazing time during the performance. After the show everyone mingles to meet with the cast!
