I will not be returning to this shop and I recommend you look elsewhere as well. 2 shady recent…read morescenarios prompt my decision: First requires some context: When you buy a set of tires here, you get free tire rotations with each oil change. This was going fine until one day they tried to charge me for my tire rotation + tire repair that I had come in for. When I asked for an explanation, Dwayne at the front desk (not the most "people-person" of individuals in general) realized that a new account was "accidentally" created for my vehicle, and this account was not connected to the account that bought the tires. Not sure what happened there - same name, car, address, everything... So, beware that they are not trying to charge you in hidden ways like this. Regardless, people make mistakes, right? I decided to continue being a customer at that time... Until the latest, more concerning scenario: I came in knowing that my battery was on low charge. When I had trouble starting it one morning, the 'check engine' light came on. My oversight was that I didn't realize the light was just related to the battery (code said poor communication with ECM) - and I decided to play it safe and bring it right it. Well, that was a terrible $200 mistake. I was told my car underwent a thorough diagnostic process, and the outcome was: "Could have other issues" but "recommend battery replacement to start with". After questioning this by reminding Dwayne (and another man at the front) that I KNEW the car had been sitting for a while and needed to be re-charged, but that I wanted to ensure there was not a bigger issue going on, he "explained" to me that it was not about the low charge but rather that it was an issue with the battery itself - in fact, according to him, the car was barely starting. I also pushed back about the supposed full diagnostic process that cost me $200 but didn't have anything to show for it. "Could have other issues" certainly does not suggest a thorough check to me. I decided to leave it be (without replacing the battery) and came to learn that 1) when I got to my car to take it back home, the trunk was unlatched, causing the interior trunk lights to create a parasitic draw on the battery. I thought this was quite the convenient coincidence, given the sales pitch I had just been given about my car barely starting; and 2) Once I re-charged my battery back to full charge, it tested just fine (using THREE different sources/multimeters) and has been operating just fine. Absolutely NO issues starting up, and this incident was 2 weeks ago. I'm glad I didn't waste another $250 to the replace the battery (a quote they gave me for a battery that I was able to do a research on and found for $150 at the local auto shop). They lost a good customer - and for what? I don't really understand the motives behind shops like this who assume their customers don't know what they're talking about and don't even have a moment to take what they're saying into consideration. But that won't be my issue anymore. Please look elsewhere.

For example, I once asked Mike for a quote on replacing some wheel bolts, and he responded that it was such an easy job, it wasn't worth spending the labor on it, then proceeded to tell me how to do it. Then, I called to ask for a quote on replacement of a timing chain on a car I was thinking of buying. Christian's response was to buy a more dependable car, not one that was going to cost me a lot of money in the long term, and also make him a fortune. It says a lot when, in the middle of some tough times, you have a mechanic that will look to save you money.

When I brought the car in, I was told the lifetime balance and rotation warranty no longer applied--even though it's for the original purchaser, the tires are still on the same wheels and vehicle, and the agreement clearly states it's a lifetime service. When I questioned this, the agent said there it was five years, then that there wouldn't be a charge and that he'd take care of it. I appreciated that, but it left me confused as to why the warranty terms were dismissed in the first place. While the service was being performed, the technician began a multi-point inspection even though I had specifically requested only a tire balancing and no rotation. I stopped them, but they had already marked the air filter as dirty--which is surprising, since it was recently replaced and the vehicle has not been driven much since then. Most concerning, though, was that they inflated the tires to 45 PSI--well above the manufacturer's recommended 30 PSI stated clearly on the vehicle label. That's not just excessive, it's potentially dangerous. I had to let the air out myself afterward to correct the issue. I called the shop after my visit to let them know the tire pressure was 15 PSI over the recommended level. They mentioned the issue could be related to the automatic tire inflation system (?) and assured me they would check to make sure it's working properly. I appreciate that they took the concern seriously. The balance service was ultimately done at no charge, but the inconsistencies in communication and the overinflation issue give me pause about returning in the future.

We were charged for it though. I spoke with the latest manager (this location seems to churn through employees quickly now), and he just said that was different management so basically not his problem. I've contacted Firestone multiple times about this to no avail. Now, today I had an appointment for an oil change and when I got there, the man at the front desk told me that there were already 2 other appointments set for 3 PM (my appt time) and that he had moved my appointment to Wednesday at that time. I asked why I wasn't informed and he said that I must have called the main scheduling number and it was up to them to inform me, not him. I couldn't believe that he just couldn't be bothered to do anything to correct this when I informed him I had driven 90 minutes for this appt. He just said to come back on Wednesday if I wanted their services or not. This location used to offer exceptional services and it's slowly gone down over the years, but when I location literally commits fraud by charging for an item but never actually performing the service, it's time to move things forward and sadly end my very long relationship with Firestone.

James (I am 90% sure I am remembering his name right) was super friendly and fast! He noticed that the tires I had selected and paid for online (using what was suggested by the discount tires website when I entered my license plate) were not the right size and found that the higher quality tires that did fit were $70 less per tire! I often feel reluctant about car related purchases because I know they will be expensive and I feel like people will often try to sales pitch you into buying something even more expensive, but that was not the case here which I really appreciated. He did present me with a few extra add ons like new windshield wipers (which I did get, $21/wiper for a VW) and a new spare tire because mine is probably 10+ years old (which I did not get). I was refunded the difference between the cheaper tires + the wipers and the original price I paid and my car was ready in 45 minutes! This location is across the street from a Wing Stop, Noodles, & a Jersey Mike's. There were plenty of seats to wait in but it was also convenient to run across the street and grab lunch while my tires were being changed. Sounded like appointments were the way to go, walk ins on a busy day could have to wait up to 90 min. Highly recommend this place!
