I only go here to get my car fixed. I have been living in MN for just under two years, so I didn't know where to go. I googled a place to get my oil changed and have been going back ever since. Most places that I try to go to get my oil change charge me $50+ because I'm over 50 or 70,000 miles or whatever it is. This place is always 19.99. Actually, it's usually free. When I first started going here it was ok, but in the last year or so another guy took over as manager. He is the greatest. Recently there was a problem with one of our vehicles. The repair would have cost us nearly $1,400. He knocked so many charges off and gave us so many things free, we ended up only paying $850. He included a free oil changed, and gave us a coupon for a free oil change. Which we've never ended up using because every time we come in, they always to it on the house. About a month or so ago we needed to go to Illinois quickly for my grandmothers funeral. We needed an oil change before the trip. They were booked full. The head mechanic, Beau, came over and asked what time we needed to be out of town. He then told us to wait just a minute. He got our car in and we were on the road an hour and a half later. In short, I will never take my car anywhere else. This place has proved themselves time and time again. I tell everyone I know to take their cars here. read more

While the people working here are perfectly pleasant, they didn't actually check my extended warranty on my car. There was nothing open on the warrenty end of things. They told me that the expected charge was like $2k, when I asked about a specific switch, they said they'd checked it. I brought it to a different place- it was in fact the switch that was the issue. They never followed up on my emails asking to talk to higher ups around this. Very very disappointed. read more

I went here not to long ago to get my snow tires put on my vehicle. I was told it would take about 1hr and half which was reasonable. I decided to leave and come back later. I finally arrived and waited for 1 more hour which was okay i didn't mind waiting. Time passed and waited even longer and while i waited i was told thru text that i had a possible rodent infestation on my engine since they do free vehicle inspection. I notice the picture and it was a bunch of dried leafs so i asked if someone could blowoff the leaves with air inflator for the tires. I then received my vehicle and everything look good. I then drove home with no issues. The following day i went on a drive and notice one of the tires that had less air so i Didn't really thought about too much maybe due to the freezing temps. Following day it was already way down to 29psi. I was like ummm maybe its leaking from a bent rim since i hit curves like crazy. I contacted Midas and advised them about the issue maybe a leak and if they can maybe take a look at it since i did service there. He immediately told me the cost to repair and asked him if its like a valve stem or sensor will they fix it if it was more of an issue was cause there! The guy on the phone said NO! I will still have to pay out of pocket even tho i got receipts but decided to not take it thereI woke up this morning and my tire was down to 7psi and luckily i got a portable tire inflator. I took it to discount tires and they stated that Midas had over torqued it and the TPMS needed replacement once they took a look at it they reconstructed my valve and everything and they did it for free. Oh! I forgot to mention the leafs i asked to blow off they decided to leave them on my engine and ignored my request to blow the leafs off. New to minnesota and this place a is a place i will stay away from now on. read more

Midas is trying to just get money. I took my car to midas for a simple oil change. I didn't ask for any courtesy checks I pick my car up they tell me I need brakes, so I drive my car Monday morning for work here a whole bunch of squeaking that had never been heard before. Also, the guy told me I had 45% left on my brake pads. He said I probably need them by the fall well summers just here so what happened to my 45% from Saturday to Sunday. They did something to make me want to bring my car back and get brakes done by them No midas you will not get a dollar out of me and you can keep your Bogo coupon. read more

I visited on a Friday for what I thought was a routine oil change, tire rotation and wheel alignment, what I got was dishonesty and negligence. The oil change was done, however the tire rotation was not as I was told the "technician" said the tread/tire was in its optimal position and no rotation was needed. The technician wrote the tires were at 10/32 all around. The wheel alignment was done and I was told that everything was fine now. I paid and drove to work. Immediately I noticed a weird sound from the steering components, the handling was acting weird and my ESC light would come on going over bumps. On top of that the alignment was worse than when I brought it in. I called and was told that I would have to bring it on Monday since they were busy. On Monday I dropped my vehicle to have the issue looked at and the alignment to be redone. I got a call from Louis, who felt silly and said that their technician left an "expensive" tool on my passenger side tie rod after the wheel alignment was completed the Friday before. I was told that the alignment was redone and that all was well. I went to pick up my vehicle and Julius made no mention of the issue with the tool. He did remark on the alignment and said that it was a "little" off but that it was better than when I brought it in the 1st time. Louis, from the back office, told Julius to tell me that the "caster can only be corrected at the dealer". Come to look at the alignment printouts from the 1st vs 2nd time the final caster reading for the left was 3.87 to -5.28. Why the drastic difference? I remarked to Julius about the tool issue and asked what could have happened if that came off when I was driving on the freeway or what could have done to the steering components of my vehicle? Nothing, he just said that it wouldn't have caused any damage. I left again, and the alignment was still off, by a lot. SO instead of going back to this location I decided to go to another Midas location nearer my office and found out the tread on my 2 front tires were less than 2/32 (basically no tread) and wearing more in the middle of the tire...causing my alignment to be off. I was shown the front tires and saw for myself what they were talking about. I ended up getting 2 front tires and another wheel alignment...and guess what, everything is fine NOW. The wheel alignment is much better, the handling is much better. And guess what! the caster was corrected this time to -0.58; I thought that only the dealer would be able to do that? Incidentally, the 2 rear tires were better than the original front tires, but measured at 6/32. So why wasn't I told by this location the front tire tread was worse off than written? Why did your location write that all 4 tires were at 10/32? Why did your location not do a proper tire inspection? Why did your technician leave their "expensive" tool on the tie rod? Why did I have to coerce a half assed apology from Julius? and why did Louis make sure to tell me that the caster could only be fixed at a dealer? DISHONESTY. LAZINESS. NEGLIGENCE. read more

I came here to say that the WSP Midas is an amazing auto shop to use if you have any issues with your vehicle. I never have a problem getting an appointment with my schedule. I have been using this location for many years and will continue to use it as long as the manager Louis is on staff. He is the best thing at this location. Always greets me with a smile, remembers who I am, why I am there, and is just an all around great guy. I've never been pressured into services my truck doesn't need and if I can't afford a service at the moment he let's me know if it can wait until I can. Louis and his team from the West St.Paul location were remarkable! I went in for 450.00 breaks/rotors and they told me I didn't need them but found and showed me my Serpentine belt was one trip to Caribou away from splitting in half. They were able to replace it along with a couple other necessities. I ended up spending over 100.00 less than expected. Enough left over for Coffee! I can't imagine taking my car anywhere else. The team was awesome fixing a very difficult issue with my car. The wait was longer then I was told it was going to be. Also isn't the prettiest looking place, BUT they looked into so many things that I never even thought of looking into and told me problems wrong with my car that I never even paid attention to- like my oil pan was so rusted and was worn down so bad it almost had a hole going through it. Ryan was extremely helpful during the whole thing and explained everything to me when I didn't exactly know what certain things meant. I have never been to a shop that was so genuine with me and told me exactly what was urgent and what wasn't necessarily needed right away to be done. Amazingly bad... Day 1. Miss diagnosed, but the gave us "a discount" since they didn't find the problem. Still paid $60 and walked away with a broken car. Day 2- brought the car back, They forgot to order the part the day before. Had to leave again because the part wouldn't be there till the next day. Day 3 - new part comes in. Take car in. Old part starts working before they take the car apart. They call us saying they now have a 3rd recommendation so they call a mobile contractor who has some software codes that only dealerships can get and Midas can't. Day 3.5 Midas charges us $175 and the software guy didn't fix the problem. Midas then recommends that the part we needed is the one I pointed to on the VERY FIRST DAY!!!! I didnt even get a chance to experience the actual service. So i dont EVEN know what thats like. The customer service i received on the phone just to schedule the appt was horrible! The first guy gave me bad info i guess, so the second guy to schedule the appt was rude and instead of an apology and clearing up with the first guy said he was overly rude and not professional at all. I ended up taking it somewhere else last nite, with nice people, who knew how to schedule an appt and they even had a big tv and free snacks. I thought I was dealing a noisy muffler so having no clue where to take my car, I called around to certain shops even the dealership and none were as helpful as Midas on South Robert! The diagnostic was free. Kevin was awesome and helpful. He was prompt in calling me to tell me what the actual issue was- a leaking resonator. The quote was ALOT less than what I expected. The mechanics who fixed my car did an amazing job. I dropped my car off at 10AM and it was fixed by 1PM. I'm very impressed at how quick it was finished and now my car purrs like a kitten again!! I was told 45-60min for an oil change. I had an appointment and waited over an hour and a half. I sat there watching the guy "working" on my car talk to his friend for 20 minutes. When I asked them about it they said yes it will take 45 minutes.... after I'd already waited 90 minutes. Do not recommend this place if you need something done in a timely manner. read more

I used to work on my cars until I was injured and no longer can, so I gave these guys a try. I went to get my brake pads replaced, an easy diy job. They did an inspection and came back to me telling me I had to get my rotors replaced. The mechanic that did the inspection said it was illegal for him to let me leave until they replaced the rotors. When I got my car home I checked all my fluids and the transmission fluid had been drained, completly!! Do not use these guys. You've been warned. read more

The oil change is a decent deal. As long as you don't believe what they tell you is wrong after it. They told me that my Toyota Tundra 2010's drivetrain was completely shot and needed serious work done. I did not believe them, I went strait to Toyota to get it checked and there was nothing wrong with it. 1 year later the truck is still driving like a champ and I haven't seen Midas since. read more

I own 2007 BMW 750LI, went to Dealer Service center. They estimated almost $2400 worth of repairs on the car. I called Midas (rob) he said " bring it in" I brought it to them for second opinion. These guys were awesome. We called them at 3:20 because my husband's serpentine belt was torn. They close at 4 and we told them we could be there in 20 minutes. They fixed it that day and didn't charge a lot. We had plans for Sunday for an event that only happens once a year. My husband drives for Uber Monday through Friday. Required a brake job for my 2007 Si and kept researching and found Midas close to home. Had Taken it to another Brake job place but the guy there suggested I needed to replace the rotors as well on my front wheels but at this place they said I could still use them. It was a busy Saturday morning I guess and had to wait close to 2 hrs to get the free brake inspection that they do before the suggestion to get the pads replaced was suggested by Shawn at the front desk. He was pretty friendly and provided information about the lifetime warranty on the pads which was helpful. Guess I can't complain about the price when you do not have the tools and place to DIY. Price seemed reasonable (You sure can get pads for a lot cheap but then to DIY you need the tools and place which I did not have) compared to other places and i inquired about discounts and got about 40 bucks off. I would have appreciated if the wait was a little less (spent about 3.5 Hrs total) but nevertheless I had nothing to do this Saturday morning. read more

I was there in December for a broken exhaust pipe, it was repaired for $170, there were many other rusted places in the pipes that I was not told about. Fast forward to July, another pipe breaks so I make an appointment. I had a 10AM appointment and the car wasn't looked at until noon. I spent 5.5 hours total waiting around and spent $300 only to have a muffler fall off (literally) a week and a half later. This was due to the manager not telling me that pipe holding the mufflers on in the rear was rusted badly on both sides. That repair was another 3.5 hours waiting around and $150. I could have done a much better job inspecting the car myself. I complained through their website, and all the general manager would do is defend his people, and he said he would send a certificate for future exhaust work. They don't want to ''oversell'' is what general manager Steve says. Oversell by (withholding information) not telling the customer that they need new pipes, so that they'll return multiple times to spend multiple hours and dollars? Terrible. read more

A friend suggested I go here, but I didn't think Midas did anything but replace mufflers--and I was living in the past, I guess. I have had some major work done on my car here, and Louis' crew, as well as he, have always done great work, and their treatment of customers is A-1. Another great thing I like is the costs of the repairs they do. I was looking at getting some work done at a local car dealership, and their prices were about twice as much as Midas--and this Midas has always done great work--so let see--which do I choose? I continue to go to here, and Louis, and his crew, continue to provide the service and courtesy I like, and am grateful for--and need not look elsewhere. We recently took our car to the Robert St Midas for a tune up. They insisted we also get the spark plug wires replaced. We said fine. When they hooked everything back up they literally crossed the wires! Our car barely drove off their lot. We asked they check over their work. They agreed to check over their work at some point, but said they did not have time to at that time. The Manager Louis also told me he was not going to put a lot of effort in to it & if I expected it to be fixed I would have to pay more! I took my car directly to another garage who quickly diagnosed the wires as crossed. I would never recommend Midas on Robert Street in St Paul to anyone, not even someone I didn't like! Horrible Nightmare, Bad experience, Awful customer service. Can NOT be trusted. They gave us the "Midas Touch" & it was bad! read more
