We lost a bolt holding our torsion bar together. We were stranded more than 400 miles from home and…read moreneeded to head out the next day. The people at Les Schwab on 5th Ave were recommended to us by another mechanic shop that couldn't get us in. I watched while they lowered quotes as people came in to pay, told people they didn't need expensive work done, they only needed a much cheaper maintenance something done, and found our issue. I highly recommend them.

Not good enough. An I am a huge proponent of cutting people some slack. You know... live and let…read morelive. One of my favorite camping spots here is Goodenough Creek. I think the name is very positive especially in a world where everyone wants to be perceived as an overachiever. Most of Les Schwab's services were just that. Good enough, sometimes barely good enough. And I was Ok with that till the manager after I brought up certain issues started gaslighting me. Employees already have not many rights here, just as many as they have in NC and we are not the land of start ups, so all and all I understand, however lately I think I should not be settling for K-mart versions of things whether it would be a dealer or a tire service or what they pass for it here nowadays. I preferred them to the location in American Falls and I only bought from Les Schwab for the last 15 years with one little exception when the fellows in AF refused to understand my simple request thrice. Guess it is time to move on. The picture I shared on American Falls one resulted from them poorly installing my new struts in Pocatello on 5th and I was surprised that there was no backward compatibility as they were able to fix the screw ups of the AF location and also their own, however the location in AF refused to do literally anything and they once even billed me for not fixing the issue. This fellows forgot old screws under my wife's hood after replacing her struts, can never put the correct tire pressure in, always had to adjust it right away, overblown tires are also a safety hazard. They can't even put the correct valve caps or at the very least the ones of th very same color back. Once after I asked them to replace brake fluid poor helpers bled the brakes in the wrong sequence and pedal was almost hitting the floor, to their honor they redid it right away unlike the illiterate people in AF. However the proverbial straw that broke the camel's back was when after they changed a center link and pitman arms on my vehicle their employee told me it was much tighter now and it was not at all so they let me drive a vehicle that was a safety hazard without making any suggestions on improving and the health check stated that front end is in green, I insisted on it being inspected and repair suggestions to be made, we disagreed on the price and I instructed to park the vehicle back in front of their location where they took it and where to return the key. The dumbass employee put the car key by the gas tank. If he is afraid to see other people let him stay home under the blanket. I really don't care if he keeps his own keys in his prison purse, but there should be some level of decency dealing with clients. I called David right away to address the situation and was met with all the gaslighting suggestions like they are trying to "help" me and I am not being appreciative. A friend of mine who has tools and equipment and volunteers his time and efforts is helping, those fellows had business relationship with me I called ahead and they even dared to charge me $100 over the initial quote without blinking or blushing. Helpers...Live and learn. I just want to reiterate that I forgave them all their shortcomings, but I've never forgotten any and besides my 1st time with them where they fixed the error of Les Schwab in American Falls their service never bore the mark of excellence. Always had to adjust or redo something after they touched my vehicles, they would not even put the plastic retaining clips back. I found couple decent spots to eat and a place with superior customer service even in Pocatello. Live and learn. Last but not least witnessing tire guy putting extra 8-12 psi into small passenger tire and stating that it's normal is like seeing rain all day in desert, stating Elvis is alive, that a circle got four corners and that two plus two is five. Their safety checks are also pathetic. Like right after one Les Schwab place replaced all 4 discs and calipers another Les Schwab said I may need new pads in less than a few weeks, told them warrantied they should replace for free, then suddenly brand new pads are "as good as new". Indeed. Not reports, but sales gimmicks. P. S. Les is the plural definite article in French, someone once told me that in a dialect Les Schwab means "the ones who want to rip you off" I somehow thought it was just referring to someone from Swabia which is the cultural region in Germany, but after carefully evaluating all the available data I came to an idea that my friend is 100% right.

But I've never had an air pump blow out like that but said as help would repair for $500 more than fair. BUT as I picked up car air worked sitting there but as driving home abt 4 miles the air conditioning only blew hot air. As slowed to near stop it worked until drive again. That was constant so went back given off wall reason but left yo look and fix. As picked up it was same. I was told must be some other problem even though before just blew out it was fine. Took yo other known shop diagnosed as high pressure faulty pump that was a rebuilt or used pump. Would fix with new factory pump guaranteed for $1421 instead of normal $1800 plus. But I had just paid Master mechanics $500 so took diagnosed issue and willing to pay additional $1000 because the $500 wasted. But told pump was fine would not fix. Went to another shop diagnosed same. Pump appeared to work until under pressure. Master mechanics told me only go to dealer they would not fix and my $500 a loss. Accept warranty passed but attempted $500 repair my loss. I'll go yo known established shop.

Unsafe, sloppy work, my vehicle was returned in dangerous condition…read more I brought my vehicle to this shop for a repair, expecting basic competence and safety. Instead, I got a car that was wired incorrectly, assembled poorly, and unsafe to drive. Here's what I found immediately after getting it back: * Electrical wiring done incorrectly: The speakers were wired wrong, so none of them worked properly. The turn signal and brake light wiring was reversed, meaning when I used my turn signals, my brake lights lit up instead, and vice versa an accident waiting to happen. * Safety systems disconnected: My reverse lights were completely disconnected, leaving me with no way to signal to other drivers or pedestrians when backing up. * Broken hardware: Both bolts holding the tail lights were broken, leaving the tail lights loose and not securely attached to the car. * Improper reassembly: The dashboard was installed incorrectly, and the center console wasn't even bolted down. This isn't just "less than ideal"; this is work that put me at risk on the road. None of these issues were small mistakes; they were either the result of extreme carelessness or a complete lack of understanding of how the vehicle should be reassembled. When I contacted the shop to resolve these issues, they refused to correct their mistakes, claiming that "someone touched the car," even though the problems were created entirely by their work. This left me with no choice but to spend my own time and resources diagnosing and fixing every issue myself just to make the car safe and roadworthy. No customer should have to do that after paying a shop for work. I strongly recommend avoiding this business. If my experience is any indication, you may end up with dangerous mistakes, damaged parts, and extra work just to make your car safe again.
