And to make matters worse, after being interested in purchasing a rug, and going outside to take a look at the swatch in daylight, when I came back inside, the salesperson was re-ticketing it to twice the price,!! She said it was ticketed incorrectly! I said "you can't change the price on something I am about to buy!" This was the worst, most unpleasant experience!

Many of the items in the bedding department are still quite expensive. I saw quilts and blankets in the $200-400 range. There are some bargains among the rugs, but they don't deliver from the outlet. A lot of the bedding is in colors that most people aren't looking for in their bedrooms. That being said, I did find some nice pillow shams at a greatly reduced price, but it required some time and searching. It's also somewhat out of they way if you're visiting Lenox or Stockbridge.

I'm a big fan of whimsical socks, and sadly, many brands at the same price point as Blue Q fail to hold up after multiple washes. I have never had an issue with Blue Q's socks. For this reason, I will only buy socks from them when I am giving as a gift.

I first came across this place a few years ago when my wife and I visited the Berkshires. They had a variety of items--jewelry, souvenirs, framed prints of artwork, comics, maps, and something I found particularly unique: framed book spines. As we browsed, the employee working there was incredibly friendly and helpful. Although we were initially on the fence about purchasing an art print, we ended up getting that along with some of the framed book spines. We recently returned to the area and decided to stop by again. This time, the owner was there, and he was just as friendly and helpful. A few years back, some coworkers had given me a gift certificate for the store after I told them about it. I had completely lost track of it, but the owner called his wife to see if she could locate any record of it--and within 10 minutes, they found it! We left the store with another large framed print, another book spine, and an enlarged, framed vintage train ticket from the Northeast Corridor. If you're ever in Pittsfield and looking for wall art or unique souvenirs at good prices, definitely stop by this cute store.

I needed a small gym bag for the essentials: water, phone, keys, telemetry strap and iPod, but wanted something handmade or organic. I also wanted something that didn't look like a boring gym bag. I typed in organic gym bags and Bella Bags popped up. Boy am I glad it did! Can you say cute couture? These bags have some real sass and style; they're not your usual run of the mill blah bags. Bella Bags' sister website, begreenshopgreen.com sells the Organic Ts and shopping sacks, while Marcia takes care of the fashion! I'll admit, the web site's design is a bit simplistic, but where the website lacks, Marcia makes up for it with awesome quality and great products. There's no Bella Bags store yet, but Marcia told me that one is in the works. For now, you'll have to shop on the web or visit one of the stores that sells Bella Bags, like Candy-Plum in NY, Le Petit Garage in NJ or Berkshire Fine Handcrafts in MA. My bag came in 3 days after I ordered it and I was in love! It's the perfect size and so unique. I had some burning questions when I went back to the website, though. I e-mailed Marcia to inquire as to why the photo of my bag was no longer up.
