Rustic Pet friendly rooms! (+$10 nightly)
    Kimmy T.

Zion is filled with major hotel chains but I really try to find the little guys to support local businesses so when Big Horn Lodge came up on my search for pet friendly hotels in Zion, I thought "bingo!" I'm not the fussy type especially when I'm on a road trip in the rustic south west. Moab is an old town practically in the middle of nowhere with natural beauty all around so I would never plan to stay in the room much anyway... but these rooms were rustic, well appointed and comfortable - just what we were looking for after driving through a snowstorm. My highlights: - Mini kitchenette is nice (fridge, microwave + keruig) - 2 Queen room was comfortable (desk + dining table too). - Pet fee only $10 per night - Friendly check in - Comfy beds and pillows - grocery store across the street for supplies - free parking (trailer parking too for those who need it!) - thoughtfully offered cleaning rags for dirty gear and a bike wash station by the vending machines. Improvement suggested: - There's a gap in the door frame where street noise and cold does come through... I would address this. - The walls could use some more soundproofing. We were next to a family and could hear them if our tv had wasn't on. Not sure if they could hear our tv but they did go to bed early so it wasn't an issue. - The "rustic blanket" on the beds really isn't necessary. I can't tell if it makes the rooms look more authentic or dirty. I liked all the pine and decor but I wondered just how many stories that blanket could tell if I asked. I pulled it off and used the others under instead. - TV was pretty old and picture wasn't great so there's either no good cable service in Moab so far out in the middle of nowhere or the TVs should probably be updated. We arrived late and got up and out early (as what happens on a road trip) so we didn't do too much else but sleep here. Both Arches and Canyonlands are just a few miles away so I would totally come back here to have a clean, well appointed room with a mini kitchen and pool supporting the American dream. :)

Stayed at the Big Horn Lodge this weekend and the place was great. The management was very good, responsive and very helpful. The lodge was at a very prime location. The rooms were clean, internet worked well, and parking was easy. I definitely would recomend this place.

We spent one night at the Big Horn Lodge while visiting national parks in the area. Our room was good and had a very rustic appearance. The beds were soft and comfortable and I found the room to a decent size. The staff at the front desk was helpful in suggesting local restaurants and also helped us use the laundry facilities across the street at a different hotel. They really seemed to have everything we needed. It was also competitively priced compared to other hotels in Moab. I would definitely stay there again.

DO NOT STAY HERE. We checked in and were informed that the state of Utah is experiencing an INFESTATION of a certain BUG type. There were pamphlets on the check in counter regarding the bug problem. The receptionist ensured us the bugs were only found in the windows and door cracks. Upon entering the room, it STUNK and we immediately found a bug located on the bathroom counter. Within 3 minutes, I had 2-3 bugs crawling on me. They were seen flying around the lights, on the chairs, on the vanities, EVERYWHERE! There was also incredibly insufficient AC and the room was still too hot for the Utah summer. Went to an updated, bug free hotel for cheaper.

The staff at check in was friendly, the room was as described and comfortable, and it was walkable to lots of nearby restaurants and shops.

The breakfast was a hive of activity with staff that refreshed supplies as they dwindled, helped to tidy tables and made every guest feel welcome. Things to note: There is a large patio outside the breakfast area that is open to guests any time of the day. Will I stay here again? Most certainly. This area has so many places to explore. I can't wait to go back, and now I know of a great place to call my home-base.

They had no written or documentation of this when we reserved our room. We have stayed here once before. And we're never charged this. The only reason we are giving 3 stars is do to the friendly staff. Also we spent the night and morning listening to all the doors slamming shut. They need to fix this because people don't care to be quiet.

There was a nice full size kitchen downstairs, with a pullout bed option in the sitting area. There was a little dining room table as well. Upstairs there were multiple bedrooms with pretty comfortable beds and pillows. The bathrooms were also nice and the showers were powerful which is always a huge plus at any hotel. It also had a really nice pool area with a neat little whirlpool section that the kids really enjoyed. Everything was updated and modern so it was very enjoyable. We would definitely stay here again.

This is a dog friendly, kid friendly resort, very close to the downtown area of Moab for easy access to shops and restaurants. This place is perfectly placed and beautifully built. The rooms were clean as were the bathrooms. Room service was very nice about taking all the trash and cleaning up the dishes. I only had one complaint and it was a fairly large one. The mattress in the king bedroom was lumpy and super uncomfortable. I spent 2 nights on it before my back completely rebelled. When I addressed this with the front desk, they offered a mattress topper to even out the lumps and this was a very good solution. I still highly recommend this place and would suggest to review the mattress right away if you have back issues - and it is for this reason I took off one star.

Breakfast in the lobby can be hectic as everybody is rushing to get out to Arches. I appreciate that they try to mix things up so you don't have the same proteins every day. They also have the standard selections: make-your-own waffles, oatmeal, greek yogurt + toppings, eggs, meat protein, breads (English muffins, bagels, slices of bread), peanut butter, jelly, cereals, etc. The hotel can be a bit loud as the pool closes to kids at 10p but is still open for adults until 11p, and our room faced the pool. The location is excellent for Arches - only about a 5 minute drive away.
