If you hiking an outdoors but don't like camping and require indoor plumbing and don't want to drop $250 a night for a hotel or resort book a lodge. The rooms are rustic-country decor, roomy enough, shower with good hot water, a kitchenette table, comfy beds, cool air conditioning. Close to restaurants and a clean place to stay this Big Horn Lodge is a big win! We had two rooms for one night and were able to check out late, which was a perk! My husband and I rented a room and my sister and her family rented another room. My sister's family got to the Lodge a few hours before we did and there was NO ONE in the lobby and she said the rooms looked like they were being renovated. We called for over an hour with no one picking up the phone and we texted with no response. We had to pull over in Winter Park for an hour to try and find another hotel to stay in. The whole reason we left when we did was so that we didn't get caught in the blizzard that was coming. We got caught in the blizzard because all rooms were sold out everywhere. We are sleeping in a Safeway parking lot. It has been over 5 hours and we still haven't heard back from anyone. This place took our money and my sister's money over a week ago and said we had rooms rented. This is absolute bullshit. We will be going to this hotel tomorrow and my husband WILL be finding someone to talk too and we WILL be getting our money back one way or another. read more

Wi-Fi is strong. Rustic with dark knotted wood walls, ceiling, and furniture in the rooms makes the room dark. Need a light on even in day time, and the lamps aren't very strong. On a busy street and traffic can be heard steadily in all rooms, as they all face the street. Teeny tiny bathroom with shower over tub and toilet. Sink outside the bathroom with long counter, but that's where the air conditioner blasts constantly, so we have to turn it off when using that area for long. Fridge doesn't work. Beds are comfortable and room is clean. With so many choices within a few blocks, I wouldn't stay here again, but it's ok. read more

Zion is filled with major hotel chains but I really try to find the little guys to support local businesses so when Big Horn Lodge came up on my search for pet friendly hotels in Zion, I thought "bingo!" I'm not the fussy type especially when I'm on a road trip in the rustic south west. Moab is an old town practically in the middle of nowhere with natural beauty all around so I would never plan to stay in the room much anyway... but these rooms were rustic, well appointed and comfortable - just what we were looking for after driving through a snowstorm. My highlights: - Mini kitchenette is nice (fridge, microwave + keruig) - 2 Queen room was comfortable (desk + dining table too). - Pet fee only $10 per night - Friendly check in - Comfy beds and pillows - grocery store across the street for supplies - free parking (trailer parking too for those who need it!) - thoughtfully offered cleaning rags for dirty gear and a bike wash station by the vending machines. Improvement suggested: - There's a gap in the door frame where street noise and cold does come through... I would address this. - The walls could use some more soundproofing. We were next to a family and could hear them if our tv had wasn't on. Not sure if they could hear our tv but they did go to bed early so it wasn't an issue. - The "rustic blanket" on the beds really isn't necessary. I can't tell if it makes the rooms look more authentic or dirty. I liked all the pine and decor but I wondered just how many stories that blanket could tell if I asked. I pulled it off and used the others under instead. - TV was pretty old and picture wasn't great so there's either no good cable service in Moab so far out in the middle of nowhere or the TVs should probably be updated. We arrived late and got up and out early (as what happens on a road trip) so we didn't do too much else but sleep here. Both Arches and Canyonlands are just a few miles away so I would totally come back here to have a clean, well appointed room with a mini kitchen and pool supporting the American dream. :) read more

DO NOT STAY HERE. We checked in and were informed that the state of Utah is experiencing an INFESTATION of a certain BUG type. There were pamphlets on the check in counter regarding the bug problem. The receptionist ensured us the bugs were only found in the windows and door cracks. Upon entering the room, it STUNK and we immediately found a bug located on the bathroom counter. Within 3 minutes, I had 2-3 bugs crawling on me. They were seen flying around the lights, on the chairs, on the vanities, EVERYWHERE! There was also incredibly insufficient AC and the room was still too hot for the Utah summer. Went to an updated, bug free hotel for cheaper. read more

The walls are rice paper thin, you can hear everything....even someone breathing. Parking is really bad, I recommend parking your car no later than 5pm. Front desk, not very helpful at all, not wearing their mask properly, not friendly or welcoming. I think management here is practically non existent. We did however have some noisy neighbors and the night shift lady was very proactive and actually went to their room(s) and asked them to be quiet which was very effective. So she was helpful but the management, people above the night shift worker, were not helpful. Place is not reasonably priced, it's about $125 per night more or less. Location might bthe saving grace... but there are tons of other options that are equally convenient. The room itself was nice and the bed and pillows were comfortable, however the room was not very clean overall. I found sunflower seeds and other disgusting debris around our room. I reported this to the front desk and nothing. I would definitely do some more research with other nearby places before booking this one. For reference, all other major hotels, inns, lodges etc are on the same street within a one mile stretch, in other words they're all very close! read more

Very bare bones hotel. We planned a trip to visit Arches Park very last minute, so booked this hotel room a few days before the stay. So the price we paid was probably a bit inflated. Based on the inflated price, I would rate this 2 stars max. But if the price was under $100 (which I'm guessing is more normal), I'd put it at 3 stars. Based on this price range, its okay I guess. Rooms are old and had a weird smell. Carpet was sticky, so we didn't go bare foot. Ac was a wall mounted unit not strong. Walls and ceiling were all wood like a cabin (which I hate). Finally, it's off a fairly busy street, so there is some noise. Pros are the free WiFi and proximity to Arches park and a few restaurants. If I return to Arches, I'll probably stay at a newer hotel. read more

Friendly staff, easy and quick check in. At the end of town so not the best since I don't drive but it was nice a big grocery store and pharmacy were across the street as I needed stuff from there the day I stayed here. Room was clean and plenty spacious. I would stay here again if with my husband who drives. The Big Horn Lodge is between a budget to mid-range hotel with slightly elevated rates, no different than any other hotel in Moab. You're literally 5 min. from Arches National Park, the Disney World of Utah. Price aside, the staff was friendly and the check-in process quick, check-out process, convenient. There's a mail box outside the office to just drop your keys into. The hotel and room was clean with your standard room amenities to be expected (shampoo, conditioner, soap, coffee, TV). Shower water pressure and temp. is good to very good. AC/heat unit worked very well. Moab has a lot to offer in eats and drinks and many are within walking distance from the lodge. I would suggest walking as hotel parking can be an issue if the hotel is close to capacity. read more

Convenient location, located in the center of the Moab town. Walking distance to some of the restaurants. We stayed here three nights during recent vacation to Utah. Pictures posted here looked much nicer than actual room. What was I expecting? Room is very small and bathroom is way too smaller than I feel comfortable. They had a fridge and microwave. Bed was a bit too hard for my liking. Each door faces parking lot and you hear everything. Our room was assigned by the stair, I first thought lucky as I didn't have to walk far after hard day of hiking but we heard all. Everyone walked by liked to talk loud. Parking lot gets full as many customers like to bring their jeep or other off road vehicles. They take up more than one car parking spot. They have a restaurant onsite but we didn't eat there. If you drive 5-7 minutes outside the main street, I saw familiar brand motels such as Hampton Inn or Spring Hills with free breakfast. I think their hotel location will be much quieter at night. read more

Not the worst. Not the best. CONS: Parking is almost impossible at night. We took a trip to Arches on our second night to see the stars and there was no where to park when we returned. We found a spot in front of the restaurant next door and prayed we didn't get towed. The night we got in it was almost as bad. We managed to steal the last available spot, though it was far from our room. Dragging luggage across the parking lot at midnight wasn't how we wanted to end our 16 hour drive. The rooms are hot during the day. The ceiling fan doesn't provide much relief. Fortunately, at night the room does finally cool down with the help of an oscillating table fan (look in the closet). It pushes some of the cold air from the small sink/dressing area (where the a/c is oddly located) into the room. I had to make sure to close the bathroom door and closet curtain to keep the cold air from being wasted in those spaces. I didn't really figure this system out until our second night. We arrived really late for our first night and were so exhausted, we just made do and sweated out the night. The beds are hard as a rock. My kid seems to like them, but he sleeps in floors and likes that, too. Me, not so much. It's a bit like sleeping on concrete, in my opinion. But, it's still better than sleeping in the car. The bathroom is uncomfortably tiny. I'm not claustrophobic, but I almost feel that way in these bathrooms. There's barely enough room to turn around unless you're standing in the tub. PROS: The rooms are very clean. The pillows are super fluffy and there are 4 on each bed. The tv had some good channels to relax to before bed. I've seen others complain about the noise, but our room has been super quiet. There's a bit of road noise, but the 2 fans and a/c drown it out really well. The woman at the front desk is really sweet. The Moab Grill next door does serve delicious food, though the staff seemed a bit moody. All in all, it was a suitable place to crash while passing through, but for the price I'm not sure we'd stay here again. read more

With a trip in 3 weeks, I had to book a room in Moab for 2 nights. The facility is rather funky, but once you get past this - the room is quite large for 2 queen size beds. Extra towels / rags for those that need to clean their mountain bikes! The room was furnished with a refrigerator, microwave and a flat screen TV. There was enough towels for 4 adults. This was my 3rd time in Moab in 15 years. I do not recall where I have stayed in the past. This was located in the southern part of town, walking distance to both Burger King and McDonalds. The newer hotels / motels are in the northern part of town. I thought the room rate was a bit high but since it is summer and the town was full of vacationers, I cant complain. read more

First time in Moab, currently staying here at Big Horn Lodge and I have to say that for the price, this room has been super comfortable. Check-in was smooth and friendly. Room is spacious, well-stocked and not as loud as I thought it might be being so close to the highway. Some reviews mentioned thin walls but we haven't heard a peep from neighbors. Beds are soft, plenty of pillows and a/c is good. If I had to criticize something, it would be the parking. Seems like if you arrive after like 7, it might be difficult to park. Checked in yesterday afternoon. Nice, clean room. Kind of funky with their 60's style knotty pine walls, furnishings, etc. They do have a refrigerator, microwave, flat screen TV. 24 hour laundromat is just across the street which was important since we've been on the road for a week now. Liquor Store 2 blocks away. They don't sell wine in the grocery stores in Utah. It was a little noisy from the highway, but it wasn't bothersome. I believe there's a pool, but we didn't come to Utah to swim. Nice friendly staff. Rates are reasonable too! read more

Outstanding customer service! I'm writing my review to give well deserved praise for the receptionists at Big Horn Lodge. I had to call the lobby three times for various mistakes made on my end. The receptionists who picked up were understanding, friendly, and more than helpful, all three times. They truly helped alleviate some of our stress during a cross-country move. The rooms were great too! Clean, fresh, cute decor. Had a microwave, coffee machine, the coffee to go in it, etc. Left nothing to be desired. read more

This is a great, no-frills place. We stayed for 5 nights and had no problems. The price was cheap, room was clean, the bed was comfy, the shower was hot, downtown was in easy walking distance, and the cable channels were plentiful. That's all we needed since the hotel was just a place to decompress and hat some sleep at the end of very busy/active days. Some of the older reviews complain about slow wifi, but in 2019 we didn't experience that. The connection was good enough to stream Netflix without any issues. There was a little outside noise, as others have noted, but it wasn't bothersome -- it was always quiet by 9 p.m. and didn't disrupt our sleep at all. Stayed here for 2 nights during a March weekend for hiking at Arches and Canyonlands NPs. I searched hotels.com for places and am glad I settled on Big Horn Lodge (which was not listed on hotels.com). BHL actually had a cheaper rate for the weekend ($80/night compared to others for $90+/night). We checked in about 6:30pm and was happy they gave us a room on the second floor. Parking was not an issue. It wasn't too noisy; I slept just fine. Refrigerator and microwave in the room! Wifi worked for Yelp, to figure out where to eat. Bathroom/tub was spotless. Didn't see any bugs. Good pillows, the feathery kind where it's not too stuffed or flat. Pro: - City Market is right across the street. This market is just like Smiths with the same deals! No outrageous tourist prices. - 5 mile drive from Arches - Moab Grill is next door: $1 pancakes on Saturday, you get 10% lunch & dinner coupons at check in I would totally stay here again. Smooth check in and no hassles. There are actually a whole bunch of places to stay in town...some that I didn't come across with internet searching. read more

My friend and I found this last minute because we originally intended to tent camp before realizing how hot it would be. We hiked early in the morning and I called Big Horn to see if we could check in early. They were super accommodating and so helpful. We were so thankful for this! The room has a cabin feel. It was warm but there was an overhead fan and a smaller fan because the AC unit is not directly by the beds and those helped with the heat and moving the AC to the main room. It was 102 during the day and it was cool enough in the room. Everything was clean and staff was helpful. Overall a great stay! We would recommend to others staying in Moab! read more

Well guess I forgot to check in when we got there. We stayed from July 4-8th. Our room was on the first floor of this two story motel. Initial observations. The room was very nice and clean. It had two queen size beds and they were very comfortable. The room price was fairly reasonable for what you get. The amenities are a little lacking but all the basics were there. Tv, fridge, blow dryer, iron and ironing board and free wifi. There were enough wall plugins to charge our electronic devices. The air conditioner is an in wall model and placed at the very back of the room. It didn't turn the room into an ice cube, but we did stay cool with the help of the ceiling fan. The room was a steal compared to other prices of rooms nearby. Depending what time of year you go here the pricing will fluctuate. It's what you would expect tho to pay for a solid two star motel. The only downside to this place is that there really isn't a place to take your pets if they're traveling with you. You'll either have to walk or drive several blocks to an off leash area called Bark Park. I checked in here and posted pictures. Don't confuse it for the one I checked in and wrote a review for in the Denver tech area. All in all I would this a two star as a hotel/motel but 4 stars on friendliness of staff, cleanliness of rooms albeit the room decorations were a little dated. (Southwesterny feel), close access to restaurants and shops and centrally located close to the National Parks and driving trails. Kudos to BigHorn lodge. My husband and I stayed here during our entire 6 day trip to Moab. I actually chose this place upon reviews located elsewhere on the internet - not on Yelp. I'm glad I based my opinion elsewhere, as had I seen the reviews here on Yelp I probably would not have booked at this hotel. We had a fantastic stay here, and I would stay here again. First thing's first - our room was clean. They cleaned it every day! The maid got to know our schedule and didn't come knocking until 10:30 - 11:00 because she knew we liked to sleep in. And..it was the same lady every day. How awesome is that? She did a great job cleaning every single day as well. We left her a nice tip at the end of our stay. Secondly, the beds were very comfortable. The pillows, as another reviewer stated, could have been a little better. But, I'm a pillow snob and most pillows at most hotels don't impress me much so I bring one of my own to be a little more comfortable. The interior of the rooms is all wood. It does give a "lodge" or "cabin" feel to them which we enjoyed. The toilet/shower area is a little small - and the door would always run into the floor mat provided which was a little obnoxious. Otherwise, we had a table, plenty of counter space and it was pretty cozy. The WiFi was spotty at best - half the time we used their internet and half the time we used our hotspot, we are glad we had the option of our hotspot because in the evening, the hotel would book up, (every night!) and the internet connection would go to crap. I was pretty disappointed in their vending machines. The one in the middle on the first floor was out of order - which they told us when we checked in. Fine. They said use the one on the top floor. Mid-stay, I went to the one on the top floor and it was broken too. The other one on the bottom floor that wasn't broken, (or maybe it was, I didn't use it) only had sports drinks. I went to the office and they did refund the quarters I lost in the second floor machine, but geeze. Whoever they use for vending machine service should get their crap together...and Big Horn Lodge should hold them more responsible for the quality of their machines. I would totally recommend this hotel to anyone traveling in Moab. The staff was incredibly helpful and friendly - even when the power went out because of a storm. The hotel wasn't all that spendy for what I can imagine other places in Moab are, so we were happy to pay the rate that we got. We had a great stay...and would do it again! read more

I would give it even more stars if possible. The location is fabulous, the rooms are updated and have very comfortable beds and bedding. The way they laid out the rooms was brilliant. The fan/heater is in the back area where you are coming out of the shower to the sink, therefore you are kept warm as you primp. There is alot of road noise, which is the case for all the hotels in Moab. It is an outdoor paradise with lots of off road vehicles and souped up trucks, so is to be expected. We kept the fan on all night and it covered the noise. ( which is not the case with alot of the hotels on the strip) This was our 12th visit to Moab, and our 5th hotel we tried and definately the best. The staff was superb, there was never a time that they did not go above and beyond being friendly and helpful. The cleaning staff astounded us daily with all the cleaning they did of the grounds and walkways and areas that were touched as people went down the stairs. I am stunned at some of the comments, but each person has different demands for small towns. Moab is not Scottsdale. I hate to recommend too much because we will never be able to book a room again!
