ZERO STARS IS FIVE TOO MANY! These people are SCAMMERS! Look at the reviews: there are two groups of reviews, one star and five star. The five star reviews are all from people who never revied anything else! They are FAKE reviews, done by this supposed company. The vast majority of the reviews are ONE STAR for a reason: they all tell the same story - they don't show up on time, if at all. They do incredibly bad work. Very slow, 4 hours late, broke my adjustable bed and refuse to accept responsibility. Flat out telling untruths in response to my complaint about them dropping and breaking the bed. 4 HOURS late... 3 hour job took 5 hours because the got lost and took 45 minutes to get to the new house... it was 6 minutes away... took numerous smoke breaks... Ben the owner is implying I want a discount when I have a broken 1500 dollar bed that needs to be fixed or replaced... Very "nice" but very unprofessional. NEVER SHOWED UP FOR MY CONFIRMED MOVE!! I wish I did not have to even give 1 star. I made numerous calls, texts and emails to this company with not the courtesy of one response. Every time I left a message, I received an automated response telling me they were sorry they missed me, but still no living person returned my messages. They did not show up the day of my confirmed move and of course I could get no one to answer the phone. I would never recommend this company to anyone. The only thing these Big Helpful Gentlemen helped with was causing my ulcer to flare up from the stress! Even after emailing the owner, Ben, directly at the end of the day, I have still not received the courtesy of a return call or an apology. Terrible business practice. Also, I could find nowhere on their webpage where they mention being insured. Could not even ask, since I could never speak to anyone. Be careful there--- that could be a big problem for anyone who hires this company. Final kicker to this awful experience was the email I received from them the next morning that said "Yay! Moving Day is Done". Are you kidding me!!?? I really wanted to give my business to a small business. I obviously chose the wrong one to support. What a HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. read more

0/5 stars I thought I'd found an honest, reliable moving company that would work quickly and not damage my goods. Fast they were. Too fast. Unfortunately, not only was there damage, the owner stated repeatedly that he would reimburse the damage in cash and then stopped responding to calls, voice mail, and text after claiming he'd lost all his workers and was too busy to respond. Six weeks after the move, I'm still awaiting the repeatedly promised reimbursement. I only asked for funds from a broken table that was no longer usable, but there was minor to moderate damage to other items (fridge, dryer, patio door) but they are still usable. It's a shame, he comes off as a decent dude and turned out to be shady. I strongly do not recommend this service. read more

If these "Professionals" spent half as much time working as they did smoking pot during their (every ten minute) breaks, they might qualify for a 2 star review. I don't have the words to describe how bad this outfit is: hours late with no calls. Packing boxes with one or two items: WHAT THE ACTUAL F***??? So we needed to make continual trips back to the hardware store for more boxes - which we couldn't understand, because we knew *exactly* how many boxes it took last time (since we kept the boxes for re-use), and this time took an extra 180 boxes? WHAT!? Lazy, stupid (trying to decipher the scrawling on the boxes they actually bothered to mark has become a drinking game! Did you know that "Room" is spelled "Roem"? Seriously!), continually smoking more and more pot - the stench of it was so strong when we unpacked, that we had to air out the house with dozens of air fresheners. After two multi hour sessions with these losers, we spent a small fortune for them to accomplish very little, all while we were on a tight clock that we had to essentially just blow off because of them (which added to the pain: several thousand to these sorry excuses for "Professionals", plus another three thousand or so in ancillary fees related to cleaning up their mess. We finally got BEK to do the work, and the difference was night and day! Professional as all get out! Everything written, in advance, and every step written down, followed, and initialed as it happened, not the unbridled chaos of these kite-high "gentlemen"! BEK cost less han a third of what we spent on these MORONS, and were consummate, *actual*, professionals! Three of BEK did the work of two 4 hour teams of 4 "gentlemen", in less than two hours. BHG is a sideshow. If you use them after reading all of the reviews (not even including this one), you will get what you deserve! read more

DOES NOT DESERVE EVEN ONE STAR! WARNING: Please warn anyone looking for a moving company to NOT EVEN CONSIDER using Big Helpful Gentlemen Moving Company. We came to St. Louis to help a couple move from a condo to a house inside the St. Louis area. They had hired Big Helpful Gentlemen Moving company to provide the truck and move the large items based on their reviews and their BBB standing. They were scheduled to arrive at 8:00 am. At 7:00am we began hauling boxes to the lobby to make it easier for the movers. At 8:45, we had not heard from Big Helpful Gentlemen Movers, so we called them. They told us that one of their employees had called in sick and they were running late. They assured us that they would be there by 9:00. We were fine with that, even though they should have called to tell us that. At 9:30, we still hadn't seen or heard from the movers. So again, we called them. This time we were told they would be there by 10:00. When we were still waiting on them with no word at 10:30, we decided it was either a scam or just a very unprofessional, unreliable company. At this time we called BEK movers, who were in the process of a job, but said they could help us later in the afternoon when they completed their current job. To our complete surprise, BEK showed up before 12:00 noon, and got busy. Thank goodness, because the Big Helpful Gentlemen Moving Company NEVER SHOWED UP! We didn't even hear from them until SIX HOURS AFTER they were scheduled to be there, when they sent an EMAIL (they did not call) apologizing for not showing up. SERIOUSLY?? We were depending on them to be there at 8:00am and they literally NEVER SHOWED UP! If it hadn't been for our luck of finding BEK Movers, we would've been left standing there with a house full of furniture that needed to be moved. How the Big Helpful Gentlemen Moving Company has such great reviews is beyond me. The only thing I can come up with is that they are phony reviews. I can't possibly believe that they went from being a stellar company to taking a deposit, making a commitment, and then NOT EVEN SHOWING UP AT ALL! Not only do I not recommend this company, but I want to warn everyone out there looking for a moving company to not even consider Big Helpful Gentlemen Moving. They are the exact opposite of what their name implies. Call BEK movers for a hardworking, courteous moving company that can be depended on. If I could leave zero stars I would. I hired them about 2 weeks before my move. The day before my move I hadn't received an arrival time. I called twice and sent a text in an attempt to confirm service and the time they would arrive. I received no response. The morning of my move I called the service that I used to find them "movinghelp.com", moving help contacted them and sent an email. There was no response. I was left to scramble and find someone to move my things with less than 24 hours before I had to be out of my place and catch a flight to my new city.
