But lemme tell ya, this place is good. With a capital G-O because you should GO here. Sandwiches are tight. We all know this. They are the pinnacle of the handheld food world. To me, though, Subway usually ain't the shiniest fork in the cabinet. It's lackluster, plain, fast-food-ish. But, this Subway... this Subway... can stand up and say "yo, we make sandwiches and we are proud." The bread was fresh, meat was clean. Not dry. I would recommend getting a lil melty melt going with the cheese and a sauce or 2. Don't forget the parmesan, idk why but these guys working here love the freakin parmesan. The worker asked me if I wanted parmesan and I said no. He laughed like I had said something funny. He asked me again. I said no. He laughs again and tells me the parm parm is the way to go. I agreed. What great service. Stuff was delicious. Also, after our travels, these guys just gave us water cups and smiled. Didnt even ask them, they just knew we needed some hydration. Love the attention to detail. All in all, these bois are fire. Go here if you want some damn good Subway for a good price and solid service with some fun workers!

Atmosphere - Small place, truly a neighborhood bar. The place is covered with the little metals signs that make you smile when you read them. They even had a disco ball in the corner. Food Drink - Maredsous Triple, Belgium beer. The beer list was good. Some beers I can get in the states, others I never heard of before like the beer I am having tonight. Dinner - This a burger bar. I went for the burger named for the place, Rem. My French language skills are nonexistent and the menu was only in French. I ordered the burger named after the place, it must be good. And I was not wrong. I was pleasantly surprised with the fried egg on top. I do love so gooey eggness on top of my burger. The bun was a little different than I am use too but I enjoyed it. Service - Our waiter was good, his English was not perfect but his smile and laughter made everything better. Future - Sure

When a salad is too big for me to finish, well, that's pretty exciting. The vegetarian salad at Le…read moreJardin de Berthe is huge, fresh, crisp, and delicious. Mine consisted of greens, radicchio, carrots, green beans, asparagus, tomatoes, scallions, chives, and something I couldn't identify that was flat, white, round, kind of tasted like water chestnuts, and had the consistency of a firm mozarella. (Anyone know what this is? Please enlighten me!) I would have asked but the waitstaff seemed a bit busy... Which brings me to the downsides. My husband and I had intended to sup at another restaurant that ended up being closed for congé annuel. We crossed the river, got caught in a rainstorm, and took refuge under an awning. When I realized we were close to Le Jardin de Berthe (which I keep hearing rave reviews about from vegans on facebook), I suggested we try it. We rolled in (literally - we were pushing a stroller), half-dripping wet and looking a bit confused at the layout of what I thought was going to be a casual cafe. The waitress who approached us asked if we had a reservation. (Oops, no we did not.) After some logistical discussion between three of the staff, they decided they could seat us. (Hooray!) Our waiter (thankfully not the girl, who was visibly frustrated that we A) did not have a reservation and B) were obviously not native French speakers) helped me carry the stroller down some steep steps and showed us to a table for two. It was against the wall and the only place to put the stroller was directly in front of the table, blocking the waiter from getting very close. I didn't see any highchairs and we weren't offered one so maybe this isn't the best place for kids. The waiter was nice enough but obviously in a bit of a hurry so we felt rushed. I don't know if it was because we had a baby in a stroller, because we didn't have a reservation, or both. (Or maybe it was just the self-consciousness of new parents adjusting to eating with a baby who makes noise? Lots of variables.) Anywho, I ordered the salad and my husband ordered a ravioli dish with cream and bacon and - seriously - a quarter of a wheel of what we think was reblochon. He couldn't finish his either because it was so heavy but he enjoyed it! The rest of the vegetarian menu was not very impressive but I suppose the fact that they have a vegetarian menu at all should impress me. (And it does!) Other options were the ravioli dish sans bacon, a soy "steak", and a veggie burger (which sounded like the soy "steak" on a bun with some veggies.) I definitely recommend the salad, as the vegetables were high quality, in season, and super tasty. The dressing was good too - not the usual yellow French dressing but something a little fancier. (It definitely included mustard though, as usual.) We'll probably go back (with a reservation) and give the waitstaff and the other items on the menu a second chance. I'll update my review then.

This place is redefining what the term "salad" means…read more Possibly the largest salads I've ever had in my life. They're seriously the size of a small child. The vegetarian salad is delicious - lots of beets, asparagus, hearts of palm, carrots (done in that oh-so-delicious French style that I can never seem to replicate), and about every other kind of veggie you can imagine. Okay, this one actually is kind of salad-like. The ravioli salads, on the other hand, are just intense. Delicious, but crazy. Don't get one of those thinking you're being healthy...it just ain't happening. That being said, the salade sicilienne is freakin yummy. Ravioli, tomato sauce, bacon, AND a poached egg all on top of a huge salad. Yes, please! About 10 euros each, maybe a little more. I know it seems pricey for some greens, but these are worth it for sure. Go for lunch + go early - it gets super crowded, especially at dinner.
