Their french fries are quite lovely. This is a very popular restaurant among the locals. The location is very nice and their facility is clean and chic. Great casual spot to stop by for some good eats. They offer the option to have two parties instead of just one. No reservations required, available on some food ordering aps, and no toilet available.

The good: - the fries - small portions (maybe not such a bad thing!) and amazzzzing seasoning. We couldn't get enough. - the homemade lemonades. Yum. - the branding and decor. This place is tiny and hip. By 12:30, it was already packed. But... ...the burger was good, but we weren't blown away. It's certainly good quality, and the sauce is tasty, but my boyfriend left hungry (maybe because I forced him to share his tiny portion of fries?) ...the green salad is just greens and meager dressing. (To be fair, it is called a green salad. I don't know what I was expecting.) If you like a tasty burger but can never finish the whole thing, or if you always feel gross after gorging on too many fries, this place might be juuuuust right (bring Baby Bear and Goldilocks with you). En gros: Pas mal du tout, mais en cas de grosse faim, prenez deux burgers.

I liked the interior and the vibe, although the way the waitress spoke to us made me think of being at Disneyland. She explained the whole menu to us. Nice, but we know what fajitas and guacamole are. We both went for fajitas, which were very nice. The guacamole was a bit too acid, but the cheese was fresly grated and the bean puree had the perfect mix of spices. We were enjoying good food, a good night. So far, so good. Until my friend found a freakin' kitchen magnet in the guacamole! What the hack. Those things are the size of a 1 euro coin, how is that even possible? We lost our appetite and even before we could protest, the waiter grabbed all the food of the table and returned it to the kitchen. He tried to make up with tequila, but because I had to drive we had to do it with an alcoholfree tequila for children? Not very happy with the way they responded to this big error, which for sure is going to be a good reason never to go back to this place! I know Iron is good for us, but a magnet in my food is way out of line.

When a salad is too big for me to finish, well, that's pretty exciting. The vegetarian salad at Le…read moreJardin de Berthe is huge, fresh, crisp, and delicious. Mine consisted of greens, radicchio, carrots, green beans, asparagus, tomatoes, scallions, chives, and something I couldn't identify that was flat, white, round, kind of tasted like water chestnuts, and had the consistency of a firm mozarella. (Anyone know what this is? Please enlighten me!) I would have asked but the waitstaff seemed a bit busy... Which brings me to the downsides. My husband and I had intended to sup at another restaurant that ended up being closed for congé annuel. We crossed the river, got caught in a rainstorm, and took refuge under an awning. When I realized we were close to Le Jardin de Berthe (which I keep hearing rave reviews about from vegans on facebook), I suggested we try it. We rolled in (literally - we were pushing a stroller), half-dripping wet and looking a bit confused at the layout of what I thought was going to be a casual cafe. The waitress who approached us asked if we had a reservation. (Oops, no we did not.) After some logistical discussion between three of the staff, they decided they could seat us. (Hooray!) Our waiter (thankfully not the girl, who was visibly frustrated that we A) did not have a reservation and B) were obviously not native French speakers) helped me carry the stroller down some steep steps and showed us to a table for two. It was against the wall and the only place to put the stroller was directly in front of the table, blocking the waiter from getting very close. I didn't see any highchairs and we weren't offered one so maybe this isn't the best place for kids. The waiter was nice enough but obviously in a bit of a hurry so we felt rushed. I don't know if it was because we had a baby in a stroller, because we didn't have a reservation, or both. (Or maybe it was just the self-consciousness of new parents adjusting to eating with a baby who makes noise? Lots of variables.) Anywho, I ordered the salad and my husband ordered a ravioli dish with cream and bacon and - seriously - a quarter of a wheel of what we think was reblochon. He couldn't finish his either because it was so heavy but he enjoyed it! The rest of the vegetarian menu was not very impressive but I suppose the fact that they have a vegetarian menu at all should impress me. (And it does!) Other options were the ravioli dish sans bacon, a soy "steak", and a veggie burger (which sounded like the soy "steak" on a bun with some veggies.) I definitely recommend the salad, as the vegetables were high quality, in season, and super tasty. The dressing was good too - not the usual yellow French dressing but something a little fancier. (It definitely included mustard though, as usual.) We'll probably go back (with a reservation) and give the waitstaff and the other items on the menu a second chance. I'll update my review then.

This place is redefining what the term "salad" means…read more Possibly the largest salads I've ever had in my life. They're seriously the size of a small child. The vegetarian salad is delicious - lots of beets, asparagus, hearts of palm, carrots (done in that oh-so-delicious French style that I can never seem to replicate), and about every other kind of veggie you can imagine. Okay, this one actually is kind of salad-like. The ravioli salads, on the other hand, are just intense. Delicious, but crazy. Don't get one of those thinking you're being healthy...it just ain't happening. That being said, the salade sicilienne is freakin yummy. Ravioli, tomato sauce, bacon, AND a poached egg all on top of a huge salad. Yes, please! About 10 euros each, maybe a little more. I know it seems pricey for some greens, but these are worth it for sure. Go for lunch + go early - it gets super crowded, especially at dinner.
