There was only one other Yelp review when we came here. Atmosphere - On a small side street, but the trip is worth it. When you arrive you enter in the bar and greeted. We were directed to the dining room the right. We were there for three hours and the only ones in the dining room. We did arrive early as the kitchen was not open. It was fine we had drinks to tide us over. Food Drinks - I had Maredsous 6° Blonde, which I enjoyed. At the end of the night we were offered drinks the owner's mother made. There was a homemade limoncello and an orange-cello. I had the orange flavored liquor, it was tasty. Appetizer - We had some free tortilla chips and salsa. Dinner - Boeuf for me one. Yes I had more steak during this European vacation. The steak was cooked to medium as I ordered it. Loved the seasoning on it. Desert - Fromage, a small plate of different cheeses, nuts, and raisins. Perfect way to end all the food. Service - Sure we were the only one in the dining room but the bar behind me was bustling. Our waiter was also the owner. We practiced our French and he worked on his English skills. Okay I just sat back and listened as I have zero French skills. I was already to place my order in French, one word I had to say and I choked. I ended up saying it in English. When I got the puzzled looked I was able to say "Boeuf" with Julia Child saying Boeuf Bourguignon my head. Future - Yes please, the owner was great to visit with.

Because we were early our waiter was also the owner. He was so lovely. We attempted to speak in French and he attempted to speak in English. At some point we played a little charades to get to "goat cheese" and it was very funny. The cocktails were delicious. The food was homestyle french eating and was oh so good! At the end of the dinner he brought us out his moms homemade lemoncello as a digestif. We laughed, drank, ate and enjoyed a leisurely evening. Great place!!!

The vibe is cozy, relaxing and is conducive to taking your time with a friend or two. We loved that it's lots of locals and not overly hyped like some Parisian bars. If you're in Lyon, definitely don't miss it... it's a great cocktail scene here.

We were feeling adventurous after spending almost 2 weeks in wine country and decided to ask him for a suggestion in the cocktails. He prepared a ginger beer and rum one for me, it was very good. We then decided to order a cheese and charcuterie plate, and switched to red, also very good. As we chatted with him and his colleague we discussed the merits of the American cocktail known as the Martini and how it is not a French thing at all. Once we finished our food and a few glasses of wine, he insisted on making and buying us a Martini, we were a little more than tipsy by this time and decided we could share one. Result: we now know where to get the best Dry Gin Martini, straight up with olives in all of France, it was so good that the hubby sang them a little Singing in the rain ditty with his umbrella, and we all parted with big smiles on our faces. Thanks and see you next time.
