I cannot recommend Big Door Studios enough. We had an incredible experience working with Michaela and Terry while planning a party for about 100 people. Michaela responded to emails promptly, was extremely detail oriented, and supportive/reassuring during the entire process considering we were planning this party from out of state. If she didn't have an answer to a question, she was quick to get an answer or find us a resolution. They were open to allowing us to tour the space as much as needed and met with use on a video call to make things easier to plan. Terry and Alice felt like old friends. We were so lucky to have Terry on-site the day of the event, as he was able to manage all technology/sound system questions/concerns. Both assisted whenever needed and their calm demeanor helped buffer my anxiety! The space is perfect for any event, and the team at Big Door is amazing. Do not hesitate and book this place. Go and view the space, they are very flexible, and they help you envision it all. I am not a very traditional type of person, so I liked the different rooms and spaces. Everyone loved the space. EVERYONE. I had a Mariachi band so they were able to move around and serenate different tables, the guest thought it was cool. I celebrated my daughters sweet 16 and Quinceañera! it was a blast, it was spacious, the sound system was incredibly loud and super cool. The dance room was so cool to hang out at, the bar space was in the right spot, there was a room for a photo booth, and a beautiful flower wall background that we loved for a vendor to set up and to take cutesy pictures. From the moment I spoke to Michaela, I knew I was going to be Infront of a good, honest, and helpful staff, I was not disappointed. We had our daughter's Bat Mitzvah party at Big Door and could not have asked for a better event space. The space has multiple rooms to serve multiple needs (in our case one room for cocktail hour, one room for dining and one room for dancing). 100 guests were comfortably seated for dinner inside. The dance floor area was huge and is set up with a projector and large screen for those precious montage videos. Additionally, the staff at Big Door is so easy to work with beforehand and helpful on the day of, too. If you're looking for a unique space with a bit more edge than the traditional ballroom, try Big Door for sure! read more

Just shot a quick branded series and they were the best most accommodating location I've ever had the pleasure of hiring...ok well I was just a director so I don't actually know the details of the deal but their in house gear was great and their gear manager was incredibly helpful and on it. Cyc was clean and their facilities were pristine. My only qualm is I live in Los Feliz and they're all the way by Lax but for shoots with some of my clients down there this joint is perfect. read more

My update was removed from Yelp because of privacy issues concerning the copies of our email conversations that I had posted to dispute some of the comments made by the owner. That is fine. It was not my intent to intrude on anyone's privacy. However, I think is should be restated that Max charged my card, without authorization, for an additional $1,000 after I didn't remove my review. He then specified in an email that followed: "If you decide to remove the negative ratings within a 7 day period from now, we can discuss a compromise." ***Update, I was contacted again by a partner I hadn't spoke to that stated that they wouldn't challenge the dispute with my credit card company, and that they would refund an additional $1,000 if I took down all reviews and never disclosed what happened at our wedding again. I told them that we would be willing to update my reviews explaining that the other partner at Big Red Door reached out to address the issue. That wasn't enough. It had to be all or nothing. Needless to say, we didn't accept the money. read more

This place is a great little studio space. Especially for shooting stills. Friendly and helpful staff. Very comfy lobby/common area. Restrooms feel like a high end hotel. The air conditioning they have going on is a god send, not too hot not too feeling like the north pole like other stages. I was DITing a commercial here and when I showed up to set I found out my monitor had gotten damage on transport. Luckily Max (the owner) and Bisher (stage manager) were there to save the day. They had a fair rental on a Flanders and quickly brought it to set. A+ these guys. read more

They were very accommodating during our preparations. Always willing to schedule us a time to come view the space. Our sound tech was a total pro. We had our wedding ceremony and reception of just over 100 guests at Big Door Studios, and were really lucky to find this place. The venue is three decent sized rooms, that we used for the ceremony, the reception, and the cocktail hour / dance floor. They also gave us two private rooms for the bride and the groom to get ready in. This configuration worked out really well, as guests were able to move from room to room, as staff was able to set up. The Great Room/Entrance worked out great for the dance floor with all the lighting. If it was warmer outside, we would have used the courtyard/small parking lot for more space. The facility has a very modern and open feel to it. They also will paint a different color to the biggest room ("The Stage") if you request for a very modest fee. What really made this venue such a hit was the incredible staff! We coordinated everything with Jen, who is amazing! She really was extremely helpful with everything, from coordinating the facility to suggestions on which room to have what activity. This even included a great recommendation for our Day-Of-Coordinator. She was unbelievably understanding and cordial to our many requests. She and the rest of the team helped make sure that everything ran flawlessly. They were extremely flexible. We were able to bring our own food and drink vendors. They also allowed to show the facility to our relatives at multiple times, and bring supplies over the day before. They also helped a ton with the lighting and layout. We will definitely recommend this venue in the future. read more

We just hosted a tech and logistics industry conference at Big Door. The event was huge success thanks to the hard work and flexibility of Max, Cynthia and the rest of the Big Door Studio team, who went above and beyond the call of duty. Super accommodating, pleasant to work with, and extremely professional videographers that are well worth the investment, if you plan on filming your event. The film-studio-cum-venue has a much cooler vibe than stodgy hotel conference rooms. Several guests commented on how interesting the space was. Big Door Saved the day!! The Best! We were in the midst of planning a Bar Mitzvah party for my son when our venue canceled on us. It's not easy finding the perfect venue for 150 people but when we met Max at Big Door Studios, we knew we had struck gold. Since we were kind of stressed having lost the venue, we were so relieved that Big Door stepped in and saved the day. We had 75 kids and 75 adults and the space was great for those numbers. The different rooms were absolutely perfect for the event and people were able to mingle, eat, drink, dance and talk to each other. Most importantly, the team at Big Door is amazing: professional, efficient, generous, enthusiastic and very very capable. They bent over backwards to help us and they didn't charge us extra for every extension cord etc... (so many venues "nickel and dime" you when you are already spending so much for an event). They were so great to work with. Max is a great leader and Jen is wonderful. The night of the event, Anthony came through over and over and was always there to "save the day". This sound stage and event venue is a gem! It is an absolutely perfect setting for a wedding reception, which is what we used it for. We were treated incredibly well by the owner, Max. There was no nickel and diming here, and they bent over backwards to make sure we were happy and had everything we needed. They provided a stage manager to help us whose name is Steve. In all my days of working in commercial film production, I was always looking for a person like Steve. Aware, helpful, knowledgeable, solution oriented, I could go on and on.He is the real deal and I was so grateful to have his help. The layout of the space is perfect for a wedding. We used the sound stage for the DJ and dancing, and the reception room as a bar and lounge. We set up tables for 120 guests in the area in front of the Big Doors. The light was spectacular. It never felt crowded. The dressing room has an alcove for wedding photography that made all the pictures look fabulous. The main use of Big Door is as a sound stage, and it is a beautiful, modern facility with reasonable rates and very unique attributes. If you're looking for a great sound stage and you are not aware of them, you should go check them out. I would totally recommend Big Door for a moderate sized shoot or event. I had my wedding at Big Door earlier this month, and it was honestly perfect. I cannot recommend it as a venue enough. I was so sick of the traditional wedding venues and their aggressive attitudes about how things had to be done, so I started looking at other options. From the second I stepped in the building I knew it was the right place. It feels very modern and clean, and has a unique layout that enabled our guests to flow seamlessly from room to room. We were able to chose our own caterer, set up our own bar, and arrange every aspect of the space however we wanted. It was everything I had wanted but been unable to find in other venues. Additionally, everyone we dealt with from start to finish was helpful and genuine. I felt so at ease throughout the whole process, always getting quick replies to my questions and any problems solved painlessly. Max and his team were so, so accommodating and really supportive. I was honestly a little sad when it was all over, they made the wedding planning actually enjoyable! The event went off without a hitch. Steven was there to help us get everything set up, but really did so much more than that. He helped with a million little things throughout the night, many of them without me even having to ask; he was fantastic. Our guests were thoroughly impressed by the space as well, as was our DJ. One of the best parts was the giant dressing room, especially because we had a large bridal party. Eight girls were all getting ready at once and we still had space to spare, plus there was even an area to take pictures. I still can't believe how perfect everything went, and how much fun our guests had. I really owe all of that to our incredible venue and the effort they put in to make it that way. read more

My wife and I recently held our wedding, reception, and dinner for 175 folks at Big Door and were thrilled with the venue, the service, the great vibe and the very fair price. Owner and Manager Max was efficient, low key and warm and helped us put on a great event. We converted the lobby/great room into our greeting room and bar, the flex room and enclosed parking for our dinner seating, and the sound stage with cyclorama for our ceremony. After dinner the same stage became a dance hall for live band karaoke with more than enough space for the 6 piece band, 175 dancers, photo booth and ping pong table. Big Door provided us with vendors for parking/shuttle, extra lavatory facilities, beautiful outdoor lights, perfect kitchen space for the caterer, terrific music sound throughout and lighting for the ceremony. This venue is outstanding. We just celebrated my granddaughter's bat mitzvah at this site. The staff was wonderful. They did everything to help make the party successful. The site itself is incredible--three large connecting rooms that that allows guests to walk around, talk to and enjoy friends and family with music and dancing taking place without preventing guests from hearing each other. The space also opens out onto a concrete outdoor area where ping pong and other activities were available for the young and even the not so young. It was truely fabulous. I am an event producer, and I deal with a lot of venues. This is the best new venue in the South Bay to do private events. The owner and staff are great. Very accommodating and easy to work with. They are true pros and do everything they say they are going to do. The space is great... very spacious with several different rooms and great outdoor space. It is a hidden gem. I just found out about the space two months ago and have already produced two very successful events there. Steven and Tom managed the events. They were super friendly and helpful and were on top of everything and quick to execute any last minute changes and adjustments. We had a memorial service for a loved one at Big Door in March 2016. The space was perfect for the 200 relatives and friends who attended. The smaller rooms available to us, like the dining area outside the kitchen, were ideal for escaping the noise of the larger crowd. Everyone at Big Door performed flawlessly. Wunderkind Tom could handle every IT request we threw at him, including a live stream of the memorial to screens in the foyer. We were very grateful he recorded the event and provided us a gratis copy for our use. Kara was ultra-accommodating and a joy to work with. Max saw to it that every detail in our contract was covered so there were no surprises at event time. It's an outstanding place if you're looking to handle your own arrangements.
