The two ladies are knowledgeable and can tell you what is vegan what is not. Had Coconut and Lentil with Vegetables Soup with Toast and a Spicy Rice and Veggie Wrap with the same soup. Saw a morning glory muffin which was Vegan and gluten free and somehow I heard it calling me. The muffin was delicious. With greens, carrots and coconut was amazing. The best part it had very little sugar. Only if I had it warmed. The soup and wrap came quickly after. The soup had almost entire lentils which we assumed would be under cooked. We were wrong. The lentils cooked to perfection. The coconut milk creamy. A bit under seasoned for the Mrs, but I didn't mind. I did want some spice though. Added some black pepper but didn't do anything. The wrap with lots of salad greens and rice. Carrots and veggies. The rice and tortilla was warm. The service was good as well. The place has a small area for buying some nut milk and other stuff. There is also a shelf full of books for customers sit and enjoy.

The berry scone was amazing as well. I wished the tea place we went to the day before in Gravenhurst (Blue Willow Tea Shop) made their scones as good as this. Farmer's Daughter's scones were sweet and didn't need jam. The chocolate chip cookies were fantastic as well. I liked the husband's edamame avocado bean salad. The son got a pasta combo for $18.99. I really liked his mac and cheese; the pasta salad was fine. I wasn't a fan of his peanut butter chocolate chip cookie (too much pb, not enough choc) The daughter really liked her potatoes dauphinois. Her side of roasted cauliflower, mushrooms, and broccoli were fine, but the pierogies were exceptional. This place drains your wallet little by little. I suggested it because I thought it would make sense to have a cheaper lunch but I'm not sure it was. Especially by the time we got dessert. (But it was worth it!) The next day the husband and I had the lentil wrap - he ordered it the first day and was a fan. It was kind of like Amy's brand of samosas but better and fresh. It definitely grows on you. The daughter was not as into her chicken with cornflake breading. The son got the lasagna but thought the previous day's mac n cheese was better.

If they stayed open a little later they could get a lot more service. I walked in 5 minutes before closing and they locked the door behind me. My husband said 6 or 7 people walked up and were turned away in the 10 minutes I was in. Sandwiches looked good, I wish I could spend more time. Lovely baskets and plants as well.

We got take out so it was minimal service and ambiance but the front staff were great and looking around, the ambiance looked to be very cozy. We got a meatball sandwich was some great potato wedges. A salad with a fried egg which is something neither of us had before and a pizza. I would say the salad and sandwich was better than the pizza but that being said I would give the salad a 5/5, the sandwich 4.5/5 and the pizza a 4/5 so still all very solid. Would recommend this to anyone in the area.

The lighting was a little dimmer than I would have liked, I was y able to see too much, and they had small table lamps which were cute but quite ineffective in keeping the place lit. It was actually hard for all four of us to read our menus at the same time we had to pass the table lamp to each other lol. I ordered the Mediterranean pizza, they had a good amount of toppings, quite heavy on the feta, which honestly is very nice to see. But I'm more of a veggie person so I would have really liked more veggies on my pizza, but it was good, and HUGE! The portion size is good for two people minimum! The dessert was honestly nothing that would keep me coming back, or I would probably skip it the next time. It was well made, but much to sweet for my liking, but if your a Nutella fan and love marshmallows, then this is the perfect end to your meal! Bon appetite!

The Renard Room - Fried chicken with chili cornbread

If you're ever in the Muskoka area and looking for some really good food, I recommend visiting the…read moreRenard Room (located at the Northridge Inn by Lake Bernard in Sundridge). While the prices are similar to a nice downtown Toronto restaurant, the quality of the food and, more importantly, the nuanced difference in taste that their new chef brings, make it worth it. My wife and I stayed at the Northridge Inn for a couple of days and went to Renard Room twice. For dinner we had: - Tomato salad: The tomatoes were so sweet and juicy! Apparently they get it straight from a farm 15 minutes away, and you could taste how fresh they were. Plus the serving size was pretty big for a salad, so we were off to a good start. - Fried chicken: The skin was nice and crispy while the meat itself was still tender. The side vegetables tasted really fresh (again, the nearby farm delivered!), and the chili cornbread added some interesting heat to the dish. - Gouda squash ravioli: Sooooooo muuuuccchhh cheeeeeese (which I love)!!! Also, very generous helping of squash and lots and lots of ravioli. There was so much of it that we even had some to take away :) - Apple crumble: While the 'crumble' part was well executed, the star was the apple - thinly sliced slivers of fresh sweetness. For the breakfast buffet, they offered standard stuff like pancakes, muffins, fruits and cake. Sounds like typical breakfast fare (which it was), though there were some interesting twists: pancakes were flavoured with pumpkin spice, the muffins were bacon cheddar, and the cake was a chocolate swirl coffee cake. Nice little touches here and there to differentiate a standard breakfast offering. So while it's a bit too far to make the drive just for the Renard Room, definitely give it a try if you're in the area. Produce, fruits and veggies are fresh and of the highest quality, and the chef has interesting takes on old staples. Highly recommend!
