I have only eaten from here once and I got take-out, so I can't speak to the dining room experience. BUT, the folks eating seemed to be locals who obviously knew each other. Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. The lady working the counter was very friendly, and the kitchen staff waved out to me and said Thanks. Very friendly place. The restaurant was small but didn't feel crowded. It was clean and didn't smell or anything. I didn't see anything that would keep me from dining in. The food was decent but not fantastic. No complaints there. Their menu has a lot of simple, comfort food items. However, two things on the menu caught my attention. I love both of them and they can be difficult to find. Steak fingers and fried chicken gizzards! Big Daddy's has both and they did not disappoint. Very tasty. I would eat here again based on the strength of these two items alone. Check them out. I will definitely go back. Maybe I'll even dine in!

Stopped because of the reviews and still close to gulf for seafood. Good food for the price.

The food was excellent, and the service was even better. Our Philly cheesesteak and burger were cooked to perfection. The cashier's thoughtful gesture of giving all the children in our group free cookies was greatly appreciated. We will certainly make a point of stopping by again every time we visit Galveston. 10/10

This was an amazing find along my way to the beach! I came in and immediately wanted fried shrimp. The combo is $13.99 and comes with fries, and a drink and 12 hot and well seasoned fried shrimp. Everything was hot & fresh and by the time I left, all the tables inside were filled with people. The shrimp were piping hot and tasted amazing with the seasoning! I'll have to swing by here for another stop on my trips! I got a $2 discount for something, but then gave it right back in a tip. Total for everything pictured and a Dr. Pepper (also got a to go Dr. Pepper) was $15. 100% recommended!

    Grilled shrimp with hushpuppies

Friendly server and cook. I liked my grilled shrimp but he wasn't crazy about the fried shrimp. The batter was very light but it tasted plain. The hand-cut and -battered onion rings were good but needed some salt. The hushpuppies were very good but they were stingy with the butter especially the refill. We were offered unlimited refills of tea and lemonade which was very nice. Overall a good local place, just what we were looking for.

Food was made to order. Hamburgers were real beef. Fries were very good. Lots of options. Milk shakes were lack luster for the price but otherwise I would definitely eat here again.

Best Hamburger I've had in a long time. Hand batter onion rings and hand batter mushrooms. I will be eating here anytime I'm in the area.

You can't miss it, the brightly painted exterior with the name of the restaurant in big letters along the roof is impossible to miss. We arrived at around 1:15 so the usual lunch crowd had thinned out and we got a table for the 8 of us right away. Our server took drink orders while we all checked out the menu. Tia Juanita's Fish Camp serves a mix of Cajun/TexMex and great seafood all rolled into one! While we were tempted to order an appetizer of fried alligator balls, we opted to just proceed with lunch as we hoped to be ahead of early rush hour traffic back in Houston. I ended up trying a cup of the Seafood Gumbo, it was perfectly made with a decent amount of shrimp and other seafood, nicely flavored gumbo broth and a small amount of rice to pull it all together. After that I had the Shrimp Quesadillas. Other members of our group got fish or fish tacos, seafood enchiladas and other tasty things and everyone agreed the food was great with large portions. You want seafood? Well they don't skimp on the seafood in your order, it's virtually popping out of your tacos! Our server was great and took care of each of us, when she brought out the separate checks she delivered them to each person correctly and then returned credit cards to each without a mistake. The restaurant is brightly decorated, hardly a square inch of free space on the walls! This place is definitely worth the trip or pulling off of the freeway as you drive by.

The place was pretty full the 2 times we visited recently, even at 5:30 pm. The first time we ended up being seated near the entrance to the rest room, so there was a continuous stream of people going by yesterday. No Bueno. We started with drinks, and ordered chips and salsa. Yes, they charge for this, but the chips are really good. On our first visit this time I ordered a blackened fish po boy combo, which was a half sandwich, fries, and choice of gumbo. My husband ordered a roast beef po boy with fries and potato salad. I love a good gumbo. The cup of seafood gumbo that came with my meal had plenty of shrimp and fish, but the roux bordered on burned. My sandwich was overly salty, but the fries were excellent. I had peach sweet tea, which was very refreshing. My husband enjoyed his beef po boy. It came with dipping sauce. There was no skimping on the amount of meat in his sandwich. On our 2nd visit this trip we asked to be seated in a quiet area. It was much better. We had salads... grilled chicken for him, taco salad for me. We really enjoyed our meals. If we return to Winnie, we will give Tia Juanita another try. But we'll be sure to insist on being seated away from the rest rooms.

I loved the fried green tomatoes with a sauce that almost tasted like chuy's ranch, but it came with a creamy bacon that was good and reminded me of potato soup. My "top shelf" margarita was only $2 more but came with an extra shot. The boudin balls were amazing flavor, nice & moist cooked perfectly. I ordered the fish basket with 5 pieces of fish and bought enough home to have it for lunch out of the air fryer the next day. Husband had the ahi tuna & said it was wonderful flavor. We arrived hungry & left happy with enough lunch for the next day. Great find and will eat again! Joy, was our awesome server to be sure to request her for the best service you could ask for!

We found out when he brought the check. Tartar sauce was almost pure sour cream. We asked for different one. When I opened container it was obvious it was already used. We ordered beignets. They resembled dinner rolls and came hard and half frozen. Manager not very friendly about our concerns but adjusted the fish and blamed the server. The same manager was close by because he took very good care of his family at the table next to ours. Won't be back.
