Trading Post Cafe is an unassuming restaurant camouflaged in a shopping center in Villa Rica, GA…read more While the outside may not catch your eye, the inside will! The Trading Post Cafe is a spot where local folks come to eat. A visitor can easily spot the "regulars" chatting with their servers. The staff is patient, attentive and extremely kind. We were visiting the area and found The Trading Post Cafe via Google when looking for a breakfast spot. Our entire party agreed that it was the highlight of our day! Our server, Kate, to exceptional care of us. The menu had plenty of options for whatever size appetite. We were their for breakfast and enjoyed the southern comfort food...especially the pancakes, biscuits and apples!

When my server came back several minutes later, she asked how my breakfast was. I pointed to the corned beef hash's burned side and mentioned they. No apology offered. She asked with indifference if I wanted them to remake them. I said yes. She said it'll be a bit. I told her never mind, I don't have time. She said ok and walked away. At the register I was asked if everything was good. I said no. I was asked what was wrong. I said the corned beef hash was overcooked and crusty. She asked if I told my server. I said yes. She then gave me the total due without even offering to remove the burnt food. This food was seen by the cook and server at a minimum and nobody cared from those two moments till I paid.

Big J's Southern Cooking - Brisket with collards and green beans. YUM!

Hello my little yelplings! I'm not sure if I'm just lucky today after my past week of weird…read morecircumstances, but I actually landed excellent barbecue, in back-to-back visits of barbecue joints! For those of you who don't read my reviews, only about one in five barbecue joints I go to make the cut. The last one that didn't make the cut, was that fast food place Smokin Ds in St Augustine Florida. Anyhow, let's get to Big J's. I'm parked across the street, which I park at semi often, and throughout the years, and have only been next door at the vape shop in the strip mall. I think the other times I've came by they were closed, but they weren't closed today and I kind of expected them to be. I wanted to have supper here last night, but I had to go endure tragedy at the Mexican restaurant in the same row. I noticed they were open today, so I mosied it over about 1:00 p.m. The place is really clean, it's a family run outfit, and they are ALL SO nice. So I wanted a brisket plate, but the nice young gentleman behind the counter told me that it wasn't ready and it would be ready in an hour, so I came back at 2:00 p.m.. I ordered brisket, collards and green beans. Again if you don't follow me, you don't know my culinary history and that on the smoke pit, but this place was just about as good as my own. My collards were fabulous, green beans were off the chain, my brisket was hot, tender and moist. So good! They went above and beyond, the young gentleman at the counter asked me if I was a truck driver after placing my order, which I am an O/O, and I got something free or got a discount, not too sure what it was but I got something! That means a lot, we spend weeks and months away from our families to bring ungrateful people the things they want, so it's a little gestures like that that really makes a difference to us. Well they definitely have a lifetime customer. I just have to make sure when I pull here that they're open. But I'll definitely be back! ***DISCLAIMER*** This pure, uncut, honest review is federally protected under Federal Law by way of Bill #EO14149. Their staff greeted us loudly and proudly as soon as we walked in the door. They managed a busy lunch crowd as a team with positive vibes. The food was fresh and flowing constantly. I ordered the turkey wing plate with two sides and couldn't resist the fried chicken so added one piece à la carte. With that meal, it came with rice (I opted out), a cornbread muffin or dinner roll. I chose cornbread muffin, greens and candied yams. I also ordered a slice of red velvet cake to go. My mother in law had a veggie plate with greens and green beans and hubby opted for the baked chicken with dressing and greens. We dined in and my favorites were the fried chicken, baked turkey wing and collards. The cornbread muffin was also delicious. The yams were very sweet. We ordered a few meals to go for later because it was so good, including a meatloaf plate with mashed potatoes and green beans for my son. I had to run the turkey wing and greens (double serving) back for tomorrow's lunch. Overall, this is a hidden gem and I'll be back!

Since there was no Grouper, my kiddo and I got the fried catfish po'boy & the fried shrimp po'boys and shared them and OMG. The fry is well-seasoned, and the fish/shrimp were ample; just enough dressings and delicious French bread. We also had a side of okra, which was good, although I would have liked maybe some remoulade for dipping, or more of the seasoning from the seafood fry in the mix. Located in a shopping center, the spot is small and quaint, with a NOLA-themed mural and decor... and the playlist was all bangers! Both the cashier and the cook we spoke with were friendly and helpful, serving real hospitality. We will definitely be back next time we're in town.

Prices pretty high for a diner type atmosphere. Those kind of prices should be a sitdown meal with real dinnerware and your utensils not Styrofoam and plastic if you are seated and not taking out. The food was OK and there was a lot of it, but because the menu was a little difficult to figure out we weren't sure of how much food would become per portion. Although the food was good and hot, it was not any better than what I would find at Golden corral or actually another all-you-can-eat restaurant that's within a few miles of this restaurant. It was a rather confusing dining experience.
