My family purchased a used Sundance spa from Big Blue Spa in 2019. We loved it and used it daily, so we decided to upgrade the spa in October 2022. We purchased the Arctic Kodiak Spa from Big Blue Spa with some upgrades. It has been the best long term purchase we ever made! Not only is Arctic incredible and extremely comfortable but it is made for the high elevations (Reno). Our daily electric usage has drop by an average of 7.1 kWh per day, at $.14 per kWh we saved over $30 per month (during worst Winter in 20 years). I have used this service for years, but over the last year i have been very disappointed in their service. They are also known as Big Blue Spa. I have posted this review under both names since they operate under both names. They repaired our spa and made a mistake in the wiring. When a relay fused and needed further repair they told me that the pump had been wired incorrectly. They said that some one else must have worked on the spa after they repaired it. But that was not the case. After numerous conversations they acknowledged that no one else had worked on the spa and changed their diagnosis form the wires "wires were incorrectly connected" to there was just a "fused relay". So, when they realized that they had cross wired the unit which finally caused significant damage (a $500 repair), their story changed so as to absolve their guilt in the process. I have tried to negotiate with them for over a year with no success. Instead of being fair or reasonable they have merely tried to change the facts to justify their invoice. We are paying the invoice under protest. read more

The office staff was so-so, but when Chris, the owner showed up, everything was great. They were on time, courteous, professional, and very knowledgeable about everything hot tub. I'm a bit curious about these things and he showed me a few tricks on hot tub maintenance despite it being freezing outside. He even spent a good amount of time on the phone with the home warranty people, which I know isn't the most fun thing in the world. Beware. I have used their services 2 different times and it was bad if not terrible. They replaced my pump in 2010 for $550 and then when I rehired them less than 3 years later they not only said it needed to be replaced again - then but did it without my permission and because I was on autopay for service, they got their ill gained money. Every month is a dump & scrub or something extra. In 5 months extras averaged as much as the service. Finding someone in Tahoe to do a good and fair job caring for your spa is a challenge to say the least. This company is the least - and should be avoided at all costs. read more

If you live in the Tahoe basin, there stop putting up with the crappy service of the local companies (you know...the ones who don't return your calls, act like they are doing you a big favor, overcharge you, and do mediocre to poor work) and just call Sean. After 15 years of putting up with that crap I found Big Blue Spa. I've now used Big Blue 4 times over the last 3 years and have been impressed with the responsiveness, effort, price, and quality of work each time. The owner, Sean, has personally done all of the work I've requested and responded within hours each time I called. Most recently 16 year old tub was developing cracks in the floor and leaking. After paying $650 for 3 unhelpful visits from the biggest Pool and Spa service in South Lake Tahoe (my mistake, AGAIN) with zero progress on fixing my tub, I started panic shopping for a new tub. I had guests coming that expected a tub, and needed a solution ASAP. After shopping every other solution, I called Big Blue to see what they could do quickly. Sean patiently listed to my needs and told me what options he could offer and what to look for if I went elsewhere. Ultimately I bought a new Vita Spa from Big Blue at a price $2K below others for a similar tub, and Sean spent a day patching my existing tub shell FOR FREE so it would be available for my guests until the new tub arrived. He then managed every aspect of the swap out, again completely included with my purchase, while I was out of the state. You don't find service like this many places, anymore, and NEVER within the basin. read more

These guys are great. I first worked with Big Blue Spa about 2 years ago, and that was simply to get advice on fixing a hot tub. They provided a free consultation over the phone and even sent a couple followup emails afterward to see if everything went well. And that was all before I even began to hire them to clean. Then, once I signed up to use their service, I couldn't be happier. Big Blue Spa had an excellent team that cleaned our hot tub on a regular basis and provided status reports after each cleaning. Amber at the front desk has been extremely helpful. The only reason I stopped using them is because my new property manager requires me to use their hot tub cleaners. I would not hire this company. They say one thing and do another. They do not respond to your emails or phone calls. I had a simple main pump problem that should of taken only about 30 mins to replace. All together I was charged well over $800 to repair a simple thing in my spa. They tweaked the door to my breaker panel so I can't even get into it anymore. They operate under multiple names; West Shore Hot Tubs, Big Blue Spa Repair, and High Sierra Spa Repair. This is an outstanding business offering excellent customer care and service. I recently bought a home with an above ground pool. I never owned a pool of any sort before. This pool didn't have any of its equipment hooked up. It was shut down for the winter and the home owner did not provide me with info on how to operate it. Even though Big Blue Spa does not service above ground pools, they sent Russ out to me to tell me how to attach hoses, how to operate filter, gave chemical advice and told me how to use the vacuum. I am no longer "up a creek without a paddle"! I can take a sample of water into the store anytime they are open for a test and they will tell me chemicals to add including amounts, time frame etc. I will only do business with this company for my pool needs. They have been very helpful educating me and I trust them completely. Thanks to all the employees at this business, I really appreciate you! I cannot believe the customer service I received from Allison at BBS/P. I am alone, installing an above ground pool system and I ran into some connect issues. Note, I did not buy the pool, pump, filter system, etc. from BBS/P, I had never even been in the store. I left a panic voicemail & email begging (practically) for some help attaching my new pool cleaner. Nothing sent fit and I had run out of ideas. This was late on a Thursday night. The next morning I received a call from Allison who had been researching my system and cleaner on YouTube. I had spent hours doing the same thing Thursday night. Then she called me offering help to a non-customer. I then even went down to the store looking for parts. Allison is like me, a think out of the box person. I left and ended up calling again and going back with some parts to match. Ultimately, they did not have exactly what I needed and even when I called her AGAIN while working on the system she was friendly and helpful. I caller her magic as in two of my phone calls her out of the box thinking made me see things I had missed. I cannot recommend BBS/P highly enough. If you want amazing customer service, go there. The sweet ladies in the store showed me their quality vs Walmart's and Walmart's had less than half the active ingredients than what big blue spa carries! Crazy! These guys are awesome! Stopped in the G-vile store on the way home after checking out the stores to our north. Sure glad we did. Not only did we save $$$ on removing our old hot tub plus a $$$ delivery charge that the others were gonna charge us, but Big Blue gave us a killer deal on, IMO, a superior quality hot tub. Sean set it up explaining everything I needed to know ( I hate reading owner's manuals). Now that we've had it a few weeks, the rest of the staff is always there to answer any questions or concerns. I was very happy with the service I got. I had to leave a message and wait for a call back, but I got one within 24 hrs. They were friendly and very helpful. My circulation pump had gone out and they had it fixed in about an hour. It did take about a week to get an appointment time, but it wasn't an emergency so that was ok. I rate this company a 0, in ZERO. Had called Big Blue Spa for our service for summer setup of the pool and spa on May 12th the tech came. After he removed the cover, much needed maintenance was apparent, but he only hooked up the pool's automatic vacuum and then left saying he'd be back in a few days. Took a week and a half for the return for service. He then took the filter to be cleaned, returning several days later. Put the filter in and turned on the pump and a major leak occurred. Now, the pump motor is fried, won't work, he hasn't returned and Big Blue won't answer our calls or emails...lovely. Had a gorgeous pool before these folk have just ignored us. Probably not a big enough account for them. read more
