There's extra vegetables in the dishes. The macaroni salad was to die for. The herbs were right on. The peas and rice were so tasty. I had to hold back from eating more and filling up. Complementary fried plantains were added to the order. The jerk chicken was incredibly tender and there was spicy sauce on the side, added to the chicken. We had not eaten oxtails before. Go figure! They were so Tender and falling off the bone. The sauce was excellent with added carrots and butter beans. So good. Can't wait to go back and try other dishes they offer. Service: Very friendly and attentive. Most people seem to order and carry out. We chose to eat in and they went out out of their way to make us feel comfortable. The food was so good and so filling that I didn't even eat dinner that night. I had a cup of tea and went straight to bed--peacefully and without regret. All jokes aside, the food is excellent. Authentic Caribbean cooking, fresh, flavorful, and made with love--the kind that tastes like your Caribbean mother or grandmother cooked it herself. We grow our own hot peppers and after some discussion I asked the cook about the peppers and learned they are using scotch bonnet peppers. My wife observed the flavor profile is very similar to our own datil peppers. Anyway, my wife and son got beef dishes which they thoroughly enjoyed. My son and I ordered ginger beer and my wife got a pineapple soda, they were a choice to accompany a great meal. Not only did they charge me an extra $11 without clearly explaining why, but the total came out to almost $80 for just two plates of food -- and on top of that, I was told I had to pay additional tips. The waitress even told me the exact amount she expected for the tip. She also mentioned that I needed to pay extra because of the music playing from the speakers outside, even though I was sitting out there only because I came straight from work and didn't want to sit inside in my work clothes. The music was actually loud and uncomfortable, yet somehow I was charged for it. Every restaurant I've been to either includes the tip or clearly states the policy ahead of time. Nothing was explained to me before I ordered. Charging extra fees for a to-go order that was served as a dine-in meal, plus unexpected charges and pressured tipping, is simply unacceptable.
