    Price Discrepancy

The food was decent, but my recommendation is to get a print out of your tab after every drink and check the prices. We asked first how much for Blanton's, Weller 12 and Eagle Rare and were told all were $16/pour. So imagine my surprise when I got the tab and they charged us $32/pour. Server said she had not inquired about Weller 12, but I watched her write it down. I don't even pay $32/pour for super allocated bourbon like CYPB or Weller SIB. The entire bottle of Weller 12 is $65 retail. So we basically bought 2 bottles and only got 6oz. In addition, table placards say Jack is $4.50, but you can see here they charged us $8. When I asked the bartender, she just said "those must be old signs"!?! I was surprised at the lack of customer service given there were less than 10 people in the place all night. Do not recommend.

I tried this place tonight and it was awesome! The service was great, the food was super tasty, and the atmosphere is perfect for watching an Astro's game. I got the Big Axe Philly and it was awesome! I never would have thought of putting queso on a Philly cheesesteak, but it totally works! I can't wait to go back! Also, the axe throwing is supposed to open tomorrow and they recommended making reservations to make sure to get a lane

We don't talk about Alvin, TX enough so let me shed some light on this great place. I've had…read moreGordon Street Tavern on my list for awhile for the simple fact that they sell scotch eggs. You just don't see that often and I wanted to try it. The stars aligned and my family and I met up here for a weeknight dinner. Alvin is the true definition of a small town. It is just south of Pearland and life moves a little slower out here. Atleast for time being as it is becoming more developed now. The building itself is old and full of character. Everyone seemed to know each other. The staff was very welcoming and friendly, but service was a tad bit slow at times. My family isn't a big drinking family so we stuck with water and sodas, but they have quite a nice bar program here. They have a really impressive beer selection, a long list of specialty cocktails and lots of wine to choose from. I'm definitely coming back to check that out without the fam. For appetizers, we got an order of the scotch eggs and the Bavarian pretzel sticks. This was my first introduction to scotch eggs and a wonderful one at that. You really can't go wrong with anything wrapped in sausage and deep friend. It was a nice treat and something I will not be sharing next time. The pretzels were also very good. Our waitress suggested some cheese sauce to accompany those. These sticks of goodness were excellent. For my entree, I was stuck on a few items as their menu is pretty extensive. Our waitress said my option for the Pork Milanesa was the way to go, so I did. I've had milanesa at Mexican restaurants, but never in a tavern nor prepared this way. This was hand battered in panko and then topped with a mushroom gravy. It comes with broccoli and mashed potatoes but I substituted the veggie for mac and cheese. This dish was very good and the portions were very generous. Enough for me to have a full second meal minus the sides. The pork was thinly pounded and kept it's crunch even doused in gravy. The gravy was rich and very delicious. My family got a mix of items like the philly cheese steak, flat iron steak salad, tavern salad, and chicken fried steak. For research purposes and for my loyal readers, I tried everything. There wasn't anything that was bad to me. We were full so desserts didn't happen on this trip. Overall, Gordon Street Tavern is a solid spot that I would happily return to if in the area.

Today stop by for dinner with spouse she orders Ultimate Nachos and I order 5 Honey Sirrachi traditional wings and order of tater tot's. My wife asks for a house cab, and I an unsweet tea. My wife is brought Chardonnay not Cabernet, they take it back and bring her back a Cabernet. When they bring her the cab she also asks for water, she never got the water. Her nachos come out - pretty small for Ultimate Nachos and pretty greasy. When my order comes out there is 8 wings on a plate some small pieces of carrots and celery and dressing. But no tots at this point I'm like whatever I'll just deal. The wings looked really greasy. Took bite and these things taste nothing like what I ordered. They are terrible. I try to choke down 4 of them and can't take it any more. Wife tries one and thinks they are disgusting and greasy to. I ask for box for last 3 wanted to take them home to see what my daughter thinks as she loves wings too. Takes about 15 minutes to come back with box and place not real busy Get the check they did not charge for the tots I ordered that I did not get but they did charge me for 2 orders of 4 wings and then 1 order was $8.80 and $8.00 for the other kind of weird since all wings the same on one plate. No sense arguing about it, I'll just knock this off places to go. But over all a terrible experience and I wish I would have just at last nights left overs at home. Nothing like paying over $40 for terrible food and lackluster service

Parking is pretty easy, there's a big garage that is pretty cheap, or you can park for free in the neighborhood. They have patio seating available if you wish to sit outdoors. This is a Spanish tapas restaurant, and their menu is very big it was pretty overwhelming to look at. Luckily for us, Richard locked in and ordered everything for us. If we were able to come a bit earlier we could've ordered during happy hour which has a lot of good discounts on their tapas What we ordered: - patatas bravas with chorizo - by far our fav dish of the night. The sauce is so so good. It's a must get, but I would pass on the chorizo next time - albondigas morunas - I enjoyed the lamb meatballs with cinnamon onions, couscous was good too - Plato de jamon Serrano - good app, love how you can customize it any way with the cheese, fruits, and olives - gambas al ajillo - shrimp in lemon garlic olive oil and red chili peppers, solid but not anything life changing or a must order - calamares a la plancha - grilled squid with roasted garlic and olive oil, very citrusy and unique - pemientos de padron - tasted just like air, really is just a Carrie for the lemon aioli which was really good - pescaditos Fritos - same as the pimento peppers. Came with harissa aioli and spicy tomato - sangria - we got some kind of jumbo size for a good deal. Good for sharing

Our server Ray was really kind and explained the menu concept to us and was so helpful in pointing out some delicious orders. We decided on several happy hour offerings - the chicken and beef empanadas, croquetas de patatas, bombas de queso, toasta de lengua, and a full order of the raba de toro (oxtail). For drinks I had the happy hour house sangria and piña loca. The sangria came out first and was so refreshing and with such a lovely aroma and spice. The piña loca was more of a miss for me - it tasted a bit like pineapple candy and was overly sweet. We had all our happy hour appetizers next. I was a bit surprised at how small the portion sizes are - keep in mind that the happy hour orders are half of the tapas plates, which are already small and designed for sampling. We split the empanadas and I adored the beef cheek empanada - the meat was seasoned so nicely and was deliciously soft. I also really liked the flavoring of the toasta de lengua. The croquetas and bombas had a lovely crunch to them. The oxtail came out next and the meat really was coming off the bone - so deliciously soft and well seasoned. It came with a side of bread and dipping oil that was a fantastic complement. We were amazed at how fast the service was. The staff were quick to fill up our waters and Ray checked on us the whole time we were there and took trouble to make sure we had a great experience. It's quite spacious with both an indoor area and relaxed outdoor patio. Overall this was a really tasty restaurant and I'm glad we got to try it. I would just keep in mind on your visit that it is on the pricey side, though the happy hour lets you get a nice sampling of their extensive menu. Till next time!
