I called Big Apple Mold Removal over concerns about mold in my window AC unit. Instead of immediately charging me to come inspect, they asked me to send a picture/video to assess. They called me right after to confirm it was mold and explained that a professional assessment would likely cost as much as or more than a new unit. They were so kind to let me ask additional questions and help out without any extra cost. I've now purchased a replacement unit instead of spending what ultimately could have been double, and really appreciate the help they provided! read more

Just had my inspection last night, and they were able to accommodate my later hours. I unfortunately didn't catch the inspector's name, but he was amazing and looked over my kitchen and bathroom where I've been dealing with persistent leaks from an upstairs neighbor and shoddily done repairs by my property manager's "mold guys". He identified areas of moisture that I wasn't aware of and took his time making sure everything was looked over. He also took samples I requested. He was great and so nice and explained everything in so much detail! I don't have the report yet since it was just done last night but just wanted to let his team know he was great! read more

David and Shayna are both great! They were helpful, patient and came across very reliable and knowledgeable. I highly recommend them.

Honest and very helpful company. They came out to check my basement and gave me a ton of helpful tips and honest advice after a thorough investigation. Highly recommended! read more

Did as needed, came and tested the rooms, were professional throughout the process. Thanks

Really awesome and professional, with great customer service. Had unusual spots on the walls of my apartment that I wanted checked out. Called a few places, and Big Apple Mold had the best customer service, pricing and reviews. From the first call, it was obvious based on the questions they were asking that they knew exactly what they were doing. The inspectors who came were very professional and kind. When I received my results, they were extremely patient in walking me through what everything meant. It turns out no mold! read more

I have worked with Big Apple twice now. The first time I experienced a minor flood in the home from my flat roof, I didn't see the damage right away. By the time I saw the actual impact on my ceiling and wall paint, and then my wallpaper, the cost of repair had grown quite expensive. I worked with Big Apple to identify and remove mold, then had to hire a contractor to repair the work. I think Big Apple offers remodeling services, but I wanted to work with my renovation team. During the vendor quoting process, I was advised to call right away in the future to ensure the best chance at help from my insurance as well as the ability to stop the water damage in its tracks with the greatest cost efficiency. For example, technicians can remove the baseboards/molding to put industrial dehumidifying tubes in the wall to prevent more damage. So, several months later, the upstairs apartment had a clogged toilet and flooded our bathroom ceiling. Even though it was 1-2am, I called Big Apple, and David took my call right away. I was so relieved to receive advice, and after evaluating the tradeoffs, we scheduled a team to come the next morning. Unfortunately, the technicians consistently fail to match arrival time expectations so be mindful that estimated arrival times may be off by a few hours. They were in and out in less than 2 hours, removed my ceiling and wet insulation, and set up industrial dehumidifiers. They also helped me check the upstairs apartment restroom for any further issues. I am grateful for the fair pricing and speedy help that Big Apple has been able to provide me. There is less communication/headsup on when they come back to pick up their equipment, but it's typically a couple or more days later depending on the extent of the water damage. If planning on utilizing insurance, definitely keep or ask for photos of the moisture readings. read more

I chose Big Apple after a lot of comparison shopping for a mold report. The technician was very nice and explained everything he was doing, and both he and the owner, David, gave us a lot of good information about how the mold process works. We had a slight hiccup with receiving the report when expected, it was delayed past the normal 1-2 day turn around, and it ended up not showing as much mold as was discovered in remediation, but David went above and beyond to make up for the issues and provided some discounted rebuilding work that more than made up for it. He really cares that every customer is satisfied with the service. He even replaced our rag towels that accidentally got thrown out during the rebuilding work (to be fair, they were in a dirty heap near the work area waiting to go in the wash), no questions asked. I really wish more business owners took as much pride in their customer service as David. read more

Very responsive, efficient, and honest in recommending the best solve for my issue. Definitely a 5/5 experience!

Very thorough investigation, solid report, plenty to take to my landlord to get him to remove the mold. Also very responsive to questions over email, communicated directly with the owner. read more

This firm's #1 local Yelp-review status does not reflect its untrustworthiness. Its $650 "MoldReport" report (generated by EMLab P&K and approved by TestAmerica; you can see an example of such a report at http://moldreport.com/mold_services.html ) showed only 1 out of 20 mold indicators in our home, one room of which had a leak, as "moderate," and the 19 other indicators a "low." Yet Big Apple Mold Removal's additional, scaremongering, 22-page "report" of its own, crammed with descriptions of many molds and the worst illnesses they might induce, said that "elevated mold conditions exist"; that "professional mold remediation recommended" to be "be performed as soon as possible," with use of "polyethylene sheeting for sealing area, use of Negative Air Units, HEPA filters and air scrubbers" over "three extended-shift workdays performed by a licensed and certified crew." We retested with a firm that did ONLY testing, and NOT also offer abatement (Environmental ACS Services, its report generated by AmeriSci Bio-Chem). It detected no mold in our home, only "elevated moisture" around the leak area, whose discoloration was chemically stained from building materials, not from any fungus. We fixed the leak and cleaned the area. Finis, with only $650 wasted. read more

Big Apple Mold Removal - Mold-inspection receipt to document my 1-star review of 2/19/2018. - Damage Restoration Near Me - Brooklyn, New York

This is an amazing company. Best fair price, diligent workers who explain the process and completed the work in a timely manner. They provided comprehensive information on how to prevent mold and the reasons the issue began. I would give them an excellent review Dr Denise Phillips read more

I was surprised by how unresponsive and unprofessional Big Apple Mold was given the stellar ratings on Yelp--they cancelled appointments and delayed on us multiple times, the providers were confused at times (and there was miscommunication within the team) about the scope of the project, and they generally had a lackluster attitude about the work, dragged their feet on everything an it felt like we had to twist their arm to get them to help us or even just respond to our questions or calls in a timely manner. read more

Love the staff! Super friendly and efficient. My dad and I are really happy with the results. Thank you guys!

I can't say enough about the knowledgeable and thorough service and professionalism I experienced from the big Big Apple team, from first call to site visit. Came away with a feeling that they are a highly trustworthy organization. Rare these days in the service industry. They were one of two companies in NYC metro with great reviews. I called both, and Big Apple has a policy where they do an inspection for no fee to start. (The other requires testing fee at a minimum in the onsite visit). Once BigApple does a visible inspection, if they believe there is an issue, you can order tests. Felt this gave a lot of peace of mind going in, that we could keep costs in line, and that we weren't going to get ripped off. I called in and requested a routine on site visit to my new condo apartment in Brooklyn. The owner and his team mate showed up with a variety of high tech moisture seeking and mold inspection equipment and gave a thorough examination of all areas of the apartment. We very luckily did not have any issues, and in this case were delighted that we spared any substantial expense, and also that the owner was so polite and professional despite the amount of time they spent. Would highly recommend them if you suspect issues in your apartment. read more

The mold I had in my bathroom ended up being very minor and just secondary to condensation build up and didn't needed anything specific treatment other than cleaning with light disinfectant. It's been a month now and no signs of it coming back. David who is very knowledgeable and experienced in this field gave a free consultation and thorough inspection of the entire apartment and had many helpful tips and advice. Very courteous and professional and offered to return again free of charge if it recurred. Highly recommended. read more

I've worked with 3 different mold companies to get different places tested after getting sick from mold. Given damages caused by Hurricane Ida, I needed to contact a professional sanitizing company that could address mold removal and bacteria, especially in the midst of a pandemic. Saul could not have been nicer yet inclusively professional on the phone as he shared his knowledge in a manner that was unpretentious and extremely generous. When Kendrick came, he also displayed a sense of honesty in telling me what did and did not need to be addressed. I feel very comfortable with these experts who do not engage in the marketing trap of hidden fees and clear expectations. read more

Excellent company and service. David was incredibly understanding, and his team did an incredible job removing my entire floor, prepping the sub floor for an install and removing and remediating all mold. There is a reason why this company is the top-rated 5-star company on Yelp. I cannot say enough good things about Big Apple Mold Removal. Excellent, responsive customer service, knowledgeable staff, and a job well done (shoutout to David and Brigador!). My neighbor's dishwasher hose cracked and flooded their apartment, which subsequently leaked into my wall and floor (the joys of Manhattan living). At the time, I only saw mold, had no idea that this happened. I called Big Apple and a few other companies to compare. Out of all the companies, Big Apple was the most flexible. They weren't pushy. They worked with me on my concerns, like "should I do an inspection?" "how will I pay for this?" and "will my floor look different after we open it up?" etc. Every step of the way, they guided and educated me. When the contractors (Patrick and team) came to do the mold remediation, they were all very responsive to my questions. They opened up the wall and floor in a day, and then spent 4-days rebuilding. For the rebuild, Big Apple used a subcontractor, Runie and Walter, who were both great! I enjoyed their work so much that I asked Runie to stay on to paint my entire apartment and bathroom. I'm glad I did because he also used the time to touch up his work from the rebuild. The paint dried funny in some parts and the wood floor needed a new polish. All in all, Runie made the impossible possible - he was able to rebuild the part of the wood floor affected by the leak to resemble the rest, and I am very grateful. I highly recommend Big Apple Mold Removal for a well run, timely and professional job! read more

David was absolutely amazing. He talked me through my options. He followed up and was on time. When he got to the apartment, it was clear that he was an expert in mold identification and had the right professional tools to figure out the situation. He was really reasonable and very genuine. They really cared about giving us a good experience rather than making a quick buck. We're always going to call on Big Apple Mold Removal when we need mold removal help! read more

Fast and great service. Spotted possible mold growth in my apartment and decided to give Big Apple Mold a call based upon their stellar reviews. Did not disappoint. This was a much easier transaction than I expected. I scheduled the mold inspection very quickly over the phone. There was no up-selling. No pressure to do UN-necessary testing for extra cost. My roommate and I have been suffering from water damage and mold in our apartment. After a month of our landlord dodging repairs, the landlord did a patch paint job to try and hide the long term damage that makes our apartment unsustainable to live in. We were still experiencing health issues so we called around and Big Apple Mold was one of the only places that made time for us the next day. They didn't bullshit around with the process over the phone and tried to oversell me on their expertise. When David the technician saw the patch job that had been done, he expressed immediate concern for our living situation. His actual words were, "I don't like what I'm seeing." He put in a lot of extra effort to make sure that we had every form of documentation regarding the water damage in our apartment.  The inspection itself involved a lot of different equipment. He used both old school and electronic technology to show why the water damage was present. Once he found the large amounts of water levels hidden behind the paint job, he took tons of photos for evidence, videos of him recommending the best next steps for properly taking care of the water damage (such as actually using equipment to dry the area before painting), air quality tests, and samples. He explained why the patch job our landlord performed would not be a long-term solution, and tried to make sure we had as much on our side as possible in this difficult situation. He even checked the rest of our apartment outside of the two main water-damaged rooms just to make sure we were safe. David was extremely caring and cautious throughout the inspection with no stone unturned. He has a really good heart and is really looking out for his clients. We're super thankful for our experience with Big Apple Mold and the integrity and professionalism they work with. read more

These guys are the best! No really- Don't waste your time with another company. We called Big Apple prior to purchasing a new apartment because we found black mold and were very concerned. Annabel was very nice, knowledgeable, and very helpful over the phone. David & Kenny arrived prepared with their equipment to give us a free estimate. They were thorough and checked every part of the apartment. They assured us that it was not a big job and easy to take care of, and also gave us an estimate of how much the job would cost. After closing on our new place, I got an estimate from a local company just to compare. The guy way overestimated the type of work that needed to be done and wanted to charge for things he "thought" needed to be done. David is not like that at all. He's very honest and will watch out for you. Of course, we hired Big Apple to remediate the mold. Patrick and his team arrived and knew exactly what to do. They were efficient and made sure to communicate with me every step of the way what needed to be done. And they would ask me what I wanted them to do before proceeding so as not to jack up the job price if not necessary. They found more problem areas than expected, and they took care of the problem areas quickly. Throughout the entire process, David and Annabel were in communication with me. They were very pleasant to work with, honest, efficient, and professional. They made what could have been a stressful process a breeze! Would definitely recommend! read more

I have been a home owner for 30+ years and I have never had a better experience with a company than I have had with Big Apple Mold Removal. David, the owner, was always accessible. He made this horrible situation so much better. He and his staff were prompt, knowledgeable and neat. The work was done efficiently and reasonably priced. He and his staff (shouts outs to Junior, Ryan and Brigador the office manager) are very professional. They were very thorough in their inspection of the areas and used state of the art equipment to detect mold and moisture under the sheet rock. There wore protective gear and were very careful to contain the contamination. All was patiently explained to me and all my questions and concerns were addressed. No pressure to do unnecessary tests. All work was done professionally and timely. I highly recommend this company. read more

Big apple mold was an absolute delight to work with. Their great customer service proved to be extremely helpful during an awful time dealing with numerous unresolved floods at our new apartment in bedstuy Brooklyn. Brigador the office supervisor understood our time constraints and was able to get help to us fast, explained all of their services and fees thoroughly and followed up. David and Walter showed up at our apartment the next day right on time and explained every step of the process. After the report was done and the results came in they still went the extra mile to explain the results and help us on how to present to our landlord. Can't say enough great things. read more

It is rare in NYC to find a company that combines professionalism, honesty, quality of work and care - this is one of those rare companies!! From the start the process was very different from other competitions I called: 1) This is the only company that came out and did a FREE assessment of the damage (versus other companies charged an average of $400) 2) Their quote was very reasonable for the scope of the work involved 3) They backed their work up through the entire process with a fixed price approach (if there was still above normal moisture levels upon their inspection they would continue to work for free until the job is right) 4) Communication throughout the process was above and beyond as they kept me in the loop on the progress of the clean up 5) Their professionalism and honesty throughout the process was just as impressive! I would only recommend this company for any flood related issues you have. They now have me as a customer for life! read more

These guys are great. I dealt with Annabel quite a bit and every time I spoke with her she's been professional and pleasant to talk to. She explained everything clearly, helped out with my apt complex when they were being difficult about the inspection and overall made me feel at ease. I also worked with their tech David, and he was AWESOME! He was very thorough in his testing, and even retested an area just to make sure. The tests that I got back were very thorough and Annabel walked me through them to make sure I understood everything and had all my questions answered. They are completely upfront and honest about everything and I really appreciate that. Definitely one of the best customer service experiences I can remember. Nightmare scenario: Your guests flood your extra bedroom and bathroom in a preserved 1960's house in Bergen County NJ, as they forgot to shut off the spa handled shower head and forget to tell you about it!!! Saving grace: 24hours later I reach out to Big Apple Mold Removal on a late Saturday night and I actually get a human being on the phone who helps schedule an appointment by following Monday! They send two technicians who assessed the situation promptly and installed blowers and heaters to dry out the 8 x 15ft room to remain on for the next 72 hours. David, the technician who came to do the mold testing, was also very calm, and answered all of my questions with great patience. I was also impressed by the quality of the equipment David arrived with - boxes and boxes of it, though only an air test and swab were needed in my case. David and his staff are great and super professional. When I called to make an appointment, I was booked promptly and was very happy I chose to work with this company. I called in because of water damage that was now warping my floors. I wanted to know if anything was growing underneath it. During the inspection, David walked me through the process with ease and with utmost professionalism. I knew this guy was trust worthy and would not sell me on something not needed. This was a balm for my freaked-out mind. Why 4 stars instead of 5? I didn't receive my results of my assessment in a timely manner and had to call in for it. It's a minor detail but when you're advised you will be contacted within 3 days for your test results, you expect to be contacted. This is mold and you want to know asap if you have mold. For whatever reason, I wasn't sent the results earlier but it was promptly sent to me when I called in with an apology. Is this a deal-breaker? No way. I'll still highly recommend their services to my friends, neighbors, etc. read more
