My favorite bagel shop. I returned home for Christmas and had to get my bagels. Let's start either the Apple Pie bagel. OMG. Soft pillows bread, ooey gooey apple filling on top that seeps down into the bagel hole. Then, there's the Blueberry cobbler bagel. It had a crunchy crumble on top and a little of that ooey cobbler filling underneath. Next up is the Apple cinnamon. This may be more your speed if the ooey gooey is over the top. It is simple but packs a lot of flavor. Little Apple bites spread throughout the bagel. Now, if you like the traditional type bagel, they've got you covered as well. Did I mention how big and pillows these bagel are? They are made fresh throughout the morning, too. BONUS: They have seasonal coffees available for you to try. When this bagel shop opened in our neighborhood, it was such a wonderful place for the community together. The owner even had tables and chairs outside. Many mornings people were gathered out there to enjoy each other'scompany and have breakfast. Within the past two years it's almost like they want to go out of business. Many times they close earlier before they are supposed to. Their hours are changed regularly. Very rarely do they have the kind of bagel I want because they are sold out. And usually at an early time. But this morning was the worst. I went in and there was, an older woman doing a lot of talking in the back. I tried several times to get her attention. When she finally came to the counter, she acted like she was completely annoyed that I had interrupted her conversation. I told her that I wanted my bagel lightly toasted. So- this is NOT a BIG APPLE Bagel. The bagels in NY/New Jersey are distinct due to the water. NYC Bagels do not have Cornmeal on the bottom like these. I was also with a Native New Yorker (not from Brooklyn- a true New Yorker) to confirm my findings. With that said, I'm still a fan of anything that is a good Carb. This place opens at 5am and there is no real line during the commuting hours. Please beware that service is sooooooo slow. I had a Cinnamon Raisin Bagel with Cream Cheese (don't get the Fat Free stuff). If you really need Fat Free cream cheese, you probably shouldn't be eating a bagel. In addition, I got to try one of their many Bagel Breakfast Sandwiches (simple BLT and a Egg). This place is very reasonably priced at around 3 dollars. Bagels were brought in to my workplace. I'm a NYC bagel person all the way. I thought what the hell a free bagel from a place called Big Apple Bagel why not. These are not even close to a NYC bagel but it was really good. I had the everything bagel real soft inside nice firm outer. The seasoning was not over done like other bagels I've had, but well done. The cream cheese was silky smooth a real treat not just a tub of knife breaking white hockey puck. Will try the place again. read more

Bagels are amazing. Just like NYC bagels. Chewy and tasty, not the dry, hard rocks you often find around here. Why did I give this place 2 stars? S. L. O. W. This place is only open in the morning, until mid-afternoon. You think they would cater to a I'm-in-a-hurry-on-my-way-to-work crowd...and they do, but the service is too slow to be able to get in and out quickly. I don't understand why they do have the cashiers toasting bagels or slicing them to help the person out in the back. Everyone ends up waiting on one person. 2 people in front of me and today I waited almost 10 min. Again, the bagels are amazing! The food and coffee are soo good. Love the jalapeño cream cheese but get there early, everythting is fresh so they sell out quick

5 stars for the bagels. They are always fresh! Perfectly toasted exterior and chewy inside. We are mostly a fan of the "everything" and they don't skip on the seeds/seasoning like most places. Tons of salt, garlic, onion, poppy, and sesame covering the whole surface of the generously size carb-a-licious circle of get-in-my-mouth-now! Other choices include cinnamon sugar, cinnamon raisin, Swiss melt, cheddar herb, cheddar jalapeño and danish just to name a few. They also sell Brewster coffee which is a very good quality bean, if you've never had it. I discovered recently the Michigan cherry and let's just say I'm slightly addicted. This is coffee that I dream about and eagerly wake up for! I don't particularly like flavored coffee, and usually just grab a house or breakfast blend, but this flavor is THE game changer! Its AHHHHmazing! They also have fountain drinks which include coke products and sell bottled drinks like Snapple. There is a wide variety of frozen and iced coffee drinks too. Along with bagels they carry giant muffin and cute little 2-bite mini muffins too. Sadly through, the 1st time we tried the muffins they were stale. I did call to let them know, and they did promise 2 muffins on my next visit, which they did in fact do- so good save there. The replacement muffins were fresh and very well received by those who ate them. In my option they were more like a dessert than a breakfast item though. They offer a wide variety of sandwiches for you to chose from, or you can build your own. Unless you have a coupon I really don't think it's worth it- they are kinda high priced. Bagels are a steal though, coming in at under $1 each, a few of the special bagels will run you $.40 more. Coffee refills are only $1.39, so bring your own big cup and fill up on some tasty joe. A large cup of coffee is $2.09 and regular is $1.89, still not a bad price considering it's free refills during your visit. Shhh, I won't lie, I drink at least one cup and then refill my cup to go. Bagels are 5 stars, coffee is 5 stars, but overpriced sandwiches dips it down a bit. If you like bagels come here and grab some. They bake them fresh onsite, so you're likely to get them warm outa the oven like we did at 11am today. read more

Bagels are very good (I especially like the cinnamon sugar warmed and cut). Their customer service is not the best seeing as they only have about 2 people working at a time so they're pretty slow. I did have a issue one time when I asked for my bagel to be cut and I showed her how I wanted it cut but when I received my bagel it was not cut the way I wanted it was only cut on the top when I asked for it to be cut in the middle (--) and on top (|) and when I asked politely for the lady to fix it she was quick to catch a attitude. read more

Bagels are always awesome! I always have the grilled chicken everything bagel sandwich. Had it the other day and it was amazing! From the first bite incredible. Careful going there from 3pm on because they might be out of Everythings. The service less then perfect at times but if they screw up your order they're quick to remedy the problem. It always seems like there's only a skeleton crew working of one or two people but they get it done. Make sure you tell them exactly what you want on your sandwich and check it when you get it. It's a bit pricey if you get a combo meal around $8-$9. You do get a side of bagel chips unless they're out of them (I was able to get the regular potato chips instead) so don't get a side if you want to keep the cost down. If you stick to the bagels it's a but more affordable. Haven't tried their muffins yet but they look great! Overall a good bagel place. read more

Big apple bagels always goes above and beyond what the other bagel places do. I miss the fact that there aren't any of these stores where I live now. But when I am on the east side for the morning, I always make sure to stop by. Their muffins are to die for, their selection of cream cheese is awesome, and I would personally recommend the cheddar jalapeño cream cheese. It has just a touch of a kick, but also compliments the bagels well. Their gourmet muffins are always a delightful treat as well, sticking with the cheesecake variety, they all are amazing and really hit the spot for a tasty treat. Great job big apple bagels!!! Have eaten good bagels in NYC for the past 6+ years. These bagels are good but not perfect. The outside is not hard enough and they are too thick. Some of the bagels are comically thick actually. Maybe Big Apple Bagels doesn't boil their bagels properly. Important note: there are tons of bad bagels to be had in NYC. Big Apple Bagels could definitely survive as a Tier 2 bagel seller in NYC. Besides delicious bagels, this 5 Star review reflects how a situation was handled. That shows a lot about a business, and I will definitely be returning because of the way they handled it. I ordered the mini deal which is 6 bagels with a tub of cream cheese, but somehow, it was misunderstood that I wanted 6 bagels, sliced and toasted, with cream cheese already spread on them. The later costs more so I was questioning why my total was so high while I was paying, but the person at the register seemed confused so I just went along with it. Before I get my order, I ask another person if I could see why my total was so high ($26 at a bagel shop), and they said they'd get the manager. I get my order and realize the misunderstanding, so I let the manager know I had wanted 6 bagels and a tub of cream cheese. He not only let me keep the sliced and diced bagels, he gave me 6 new ones with the tub of cream cheese and the difference in $ back between the two. I was more than willing to just take the difference to keep the order, or even give it back for what I wanted, but he went above and beyond and did all of that for me.
