This place reminds me a bit of the sports book lounges in the Vegas casinos. Big screens against a wall capable of showing all football games, and eventually showing the only game on massive screens. Great place to watch a game! The food is just so-so. They do run a sunday breakfast buffet for $16 or so with all you can eat eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, and maybe even waffles. Not a bad deal, combined with mimosas and bloody mary specials. We ordered nachos first time and they were just ok, and pork belly skewers the 2nd time and again, just ok. Maybe a 3.5 for food. Service has been decent both visits, maybe a little slow on getting back when the drinks are low. Overall the building has pool tables, an arcade type area, and the far side is a bowling alley so its a one stop entertainment place. My only issue is kids sitting in the "bar" area where the games are played....makes it tough to get a buzz going and root for your team and try not to use profanities because of the kids. Family Night was awesome, was taken cared by great staff and most especially-our host, Courtneyshe did above and beyond service.and the young man (with unique name) that took our orders... his customer servicewas great and accommodated our needs with attention and details. A huge plus! This family night is very important to me. We don't go out often as we'd like, but when we do- we appreciate great servicewith welcoming atmosphere. The price was well worth the much needed family gathering. We had ordered pizza, french fries and nachos. (The nachos came huge in a plate, but very little cheese.) I had a few cocktails which the bartender did excellent in mixing.After our fun 2 hours of bowling, we're given gift cards to play in thearcade and that was a great highlight, as well. We come here several times a year. Today I was disappointed. We had a good time bowling but when it came to the food service, it was terrible. You place your order via a website and you're asked to give a tip. (I didn't know I was going to be my own server so of course I gave a tip.) A food runner brings your drinks and food. They are not a server. The customer has to go and refill their own drinks, they don't come back and check on you, you have to retrieve your own condiments, silverware, plates and napkins. We received half our order, after waiting 15-20 minutes I went to bar to get refills and was informed it was self serve around the corner. The employee at the bar was kind enough to check on the rest of our food and when we finally got it, 1 item was half hot half cold (not sure how that's even possible) and burnt tasting. We sent it back and the manager took the item off our bill. How long are we going to use the excuse of being short staffed for poor customer service, especially when we are paying Walt Disney World prices for our meals? read more

I hate giving poor reviews especially during COVID but unfortunately this one is warranted. We visited Big Al's for the first time for dinner since they had reopened. We stood in line for about 10 min waiting for a table only to find out it is seat yourself. There was no signage to suggest that anything had changed (pre COVID you always waited to be seated). We found a table and there was a flyer on the table saying that you need to scan the QR code to place your order including drinks, no more waitstaff. We ordered our food and drinks (club soda, a sprite, happy hour wings and beef nachos. It took about 10 min to receive our drinks but only the club soda arrived. I advised that there was a sprite too and the drink runner said he would bring it back. Another 10 min and no sprite. I finally flagged him down and let him know we were still waiting on the sprite and he went and got it for us. The food came out about 10 min later. The wings were fine for happy hour price and portion but the nachos were a huge disappointment. We have ordered these before. They are huge and cost $20. We have never eaten them all before but on previous occasions, they have been loaded with all the fixings including generous amounts of meat and cheese. This time it was 80% chips with nothing on them. We don't mind paying $20 for them but this time, it was clearly obvious that they were overcharging. I could go to the store and buy all the fixings for what we got and only spent $5. Lastly, to get a drink refill, you have to stand in line (the same line we stood in when we arrived). It took another 10 min for the refills. With all this said, I understand with Covid that things have to change but they definitely need to re-evaluate their processes. Man this place has changed. We were here a while ago and it was after everything reopened so we figured those changes were covid related but they weren't. Last night was the same. 2 girls manning the bar and a "waiter" if you call him that managing the rest. The app is terrible and did not have the weekly specials loaded. Had to go to the bar to do everything then we had to pay and tip upfront. The first time I took my girl here was pre covid for a hawks game and we had a blast and the place was packed. We've been three times since and it's hardly ever busy and just poor poor experience. The employees were nice but this isn't a fun bar/restaurant anymore. My first time here in this place looked like a pretty good nice atmosphere. I was told waiting time was 90 minutes the time I checked in. They took my number down my name and I was told I would receive a text as soon as a bowling lane was available. To kill time we purchased food, drinks and fun cards for the kids to play at the arcade. At 8:45pm I checked with the girls on the counter to see how much longer & they had said it was still 45min to an hour more. And to top it off there were eight people in front of me in line still waiting as well.... REALLY !!!! I walked out of there about 9:15pm and still no text. What do do on a Sunday afternoon? My wife and I decided to visit Big Al's for some lunch and then bowling. We ordered lunch in the Sports Bar. Turns out you have to pay first and they want a recommended 18% for this. After ordering, we sat and waited for 20 minutes before they brought up the wrong beers and then told us they did not have the beer they have the beer on the menu that we selected. This was followed by our lunch order arriving with deep-fried chicken on the Ceasar salad instead of grilled like we asked for. Once lunch is over we moved to the lanes where we were told if we paid extra we could bowl in the VIP Adults Only section. We were surrounded by screaming food dropping kids in a dark bowling alley were the lanes were sticky and the was no bowling etiquette. I understand it is just Bis Al's you say. You can have it. I will not return to this arcade version of bad food, terrible service, horrible lanes, and high-end prices. read more

This review is based solely on the dining experience in the 'sports' area. After a soccer game my sons soccer team and parents decided to go to Big Al's and despite the restaurant area having plenty of tables open they hesitated to seat us. We made it very easy for them to split us up into tables of 4 and 6 but were told that 'the kids could pose a problem running around table to table' which was frankly alarming to hear. She then said she would talk to her manager. If you have been to big Al's you can attest that its nothing but kids running around enjoying themselves. Its a bowling alley with a giant arcade, Im not sure what they would expect. Meanwhile 6 other parties of 4 were seated ahead of us. The manager looked flustered - not with our group, just in general - and after 25 minutes started seating our group in smaller groups. While we finally got it sorted out it was a little surprising what we experienced for a place so large that surely was well suited to dealing with large crowds and kids. Food was good, not great, good. Tap beer selection was better than expected at a bowling alley. If you have a large group I would have to suggest skipping this place even if you are well organized and split up to make it super easy on the employees. Sadly all of us walked away not impressed which was a shame. Sounds like a quick pep talk to the managers and hostess is in order and would surely be something easy to correct. read more

I really wanted to like this place. My kids love bowling and admittedly I grew up in rural America and went with my dad to the smoky bowling alleys of yesterday. Thankfully this was literally a breath of fresh air relative to that. But that's where the advantages stop. This place was loud. Even my 13 yo and 16 yo were complaining about the noise. We waited to get a lane due to reduced usage of lanes. The four of us were given a lane next to a very large group who was sitting in our area and had to ask them to give us a spot to sit in our own lane. After requesting to be moved due to not having any space they did move us back to the other side of the lanes where it was less crowded. However, while it was less crowded and this area was very nice the issue came with the resetting of the pins. As we bowled the pins were consistently not reset properly and pins will be knocked down and our scores were off. While this advantaged me greatly over my children that is unfortunately not the spirit of going out bowling with your kids that you want to take home with you. When this occurred on the first lane the management was very happy to move us to another lane which now puts us on the third lane of our bowling experience to bowl a total of two games. We still encountered the same pin reset issues on that lane as well. I discussed this with management on my way out and was offered an acknowledgment of The issues we encountered. While I would normally not have issue with these inconveniences, they come with a hefty price tag. To bowl 2 games with four of us cost us nearly $100. That is for shoes and bowling only without food or drinks. Hopefully this was an anomalous experience, but I would be hard pressed to go back any time soon. read more

I called ahead to make bowling reservations, NO RESERVATIONS could be made. We got there and was told by girl at the front desk that it would be a 2-2.5 HOUR WAIT she told me that she wasn't sure that it would even be ready in that time. That half of the bowling alley was reserved for a company party. The girl was somewhat impolite and short with her words, when I questioned why I couldn't make a reservation but the company could it was explained that they paid several thousand dollars. Well ok... I reluctantly joined the wait list for lack of better options. We sat at the restaurant to compensate for this time and ordered, the server was much more polite then the front desk staff and was apologetic when after ordering pizzas he told us that there was NO PIZZA dough. So once again, we adjusted accordingly. After our orders came in we were happy with the food and service. I went to pay for our bill with cash and then was told that they DO NOT ACCEPT CASH. So on the credit card it went like everything else there that day. We still had some time to waste so we went to the arcade. The place was busy and about a third of the games were out of order, after my kids walked around eager to spend their plastic money they were disappointed to have either a line or a busted machine, none of the air hockey tables had air and one machine shorted several tickets after completing the game. About 5 minutes into the arcade we received a call that our lanes were ready early so back to the impolite front desk girl we went. After prying our children from the arcade, we proceeded to bowl. One of the two lanes malfunctioned about 5x before they moved the whole group over to another lane. Then some kid with a microphone got on the intercom system and squealed for about a minute before figuring out how to shut the thing off. We still managed to enjoy our experience because of the facility and people we had for company but I will defiantly think twice about returning. read more

Used to love it here... but this visit tonight was terrible. Bar Food was priced like fine dining. I ordered a burger off their happy hour menu... $10 and it was bland and mostly bread. They have implemented a new rule where they make you pay and close out on each item you order. Waiter came and asked for our drink order and we hadn't looked at the menu for what we wanted to eat yet. He said he was required to have us pay for the drinks and when he came back with drinks we were ready to order food... but he has to go back and get his iPad to order and came back and once again make us pay immediately. food was dropped off without any napkins or silverware and we could never get anyones attention so we had to get up and go track it down from another table. terrible. I went to enjoy a nice dinner with my family, got seated in the restaurant, and had a friendly server put in my order. When the first half of the order arrived...half of it was wrong. I tell the server that it was wrong and send it back and a few minutes later I'm met with another employee. She asked us what exactly was wrong, and shows us the order that was put in (our server put almost everything in wrong), and starts making notes on what needed to be changed. She reassured us saying that she will make sure we get our food the way we wanted it and apologized for the miscommunications. She is truly a superstar employee and saved the day. I have never experienced customer service as professional and friendly as I had with her. I even mistook her for a manager with how well she knew her stuff and handled the situation. Website and workers will say "booked out till 2022" when you ask but we went in tonight, Thursday, and got the entire sky box area for 25.... And the restaurant wasn't packed in the slightest. So we have a birthday and with five kids plus a friend, we have to be frugal, so I see this deal on the website for $10 all-you-can-play arcade games. We arrive at 8 and stand in line for five minutes only to be told "oh, we're not doing that anymore", and our bowling is full for the night but you can get tickets at the kiosk. After reviewing the choices and seeing that a hundred dollars of tickets will only result in maybe 20 minutes of a lay when used by six kids, I get fed up amd go stand in line to complain. Different girl this time, and she leans over in a conspiratorial way and says "oh that's not something we tell people about but I can't help you, you need to go to the rewards booth. I do as instructed but there are ten people in front of me, it is 8:30 before I get to talk to the guy who says he's never heard of this deal but "he knows a way to make it work". However, I need to "purchase" the points card for $2 extra (the ones in the kiosk outside don't charge for the same type of card) in order for the guy to "set it up". So, $72 later and having lost 40 minutes of the two hours to play unlimited games, the kids are having a good time but I'm truly pissed. To the management, if your website advertises something, train your staff on how to do it and don't throw in hidden fees that are essentially a 20% tax. Great place, rotten service. read more

Bowling was good, I think the floors were a bit slippery though. We played some pool in the bar area afterwards. The tables are worn, the sticks are pretty beat up.. but it played okay. I've been on a search for a Sports Bar in Vancouver and I wasn't having any luck. Sure, I was finding bars that had TV's tuned to the games, but the places were always empty except for a few heavy drinkers and no other sports fans. I don't know about you, but I get a little self conscious yelling "Go, go, go!", in an empty room. At one such bar, a guy told me that Big Al's was the place to be: so I got in my car, drove to Big Al's, walked in the front door, asked for the bar and was sent to an alcove the featured a half dozen tables and a few TV's. I was not impressed. Last week a friend told me that there is another, larger bar at Big Al's, so I gave it another try...and I'm glad I did! She carded my sister and I. My sister has an AZ ID. She and another male bartender served us 3 drinks the whole night. We had so much fun and decided to return tonight. Tonight, there was an hour wait to bowl. We decided to get some drinks and play some games. A bartender with blue/ green hair. She served us 4 twisted teas and carded us all. She was so kind. We play games until our game for bowling is ready. We get our shoes and start to bowl. My sister and I decide to get another drink. The bartender with brown hair is there again. My sister and I go to order drinks. She takes my sister AZ ID and checks it under a black light. She rudely says she can't serve her. I ask why. She says her ID is not showing under the black light. I told her that doesn't make sense. I told her she didn't use a black light 2 weeks ago and the other bartender didn't and served us. She said too bad. I told her that doesn't make sense. I ask for a manager. The bartenders look at our IDs and the manager says it is not showing up. I said then there is an issue with your black light because our IDs work at clubs that have black lights and my sister used her ID in San Diego and it showed up under a black light. The brown haired bartender said she only black light my sister ID because she "looks young". We immediately asked for a refund. My issue is that the bartenders don't follow policy to a tee. If you black light ones ID then you should black light all IDs including older people. Just because people "look young" is not a legitimate reason to only target them for black light checks. All the manager kept talking about too was football season this and football that. Fix your staff, games, and bowling lanes. Also, have balls that are smaller than 7. read more

This place has made some major changes for the worst in the restaurant. The people were very friendly and did what they could, but overall the experience sucked. We were forced to order our food through an app, pre-pay for it and pay a tip in advance. The app was developed to make it easier, but it was lacking items and we had to order our meal at the bar to get it right. We've also waited for our food for more than 40 mins. They tried to bring drinks we didn't order and never asked us for refill because we didn't have a true server. In the end we had them credit our dinner and we left. To Big Al's corprate team... the customer should be the most important part of your business, remember before covid when you could actually tip someone for service? Let's get back to it. We are super bummed about our experience in the sports bar! We used to come here all the time and really enjoyed it. I was going to give this review a one- star rating, but we spoke to the restaurant manager, Adam, and he made it right for us, so he gets five stars and the restaurant policy makers get one, for an average of three. Similarly to other reviewers, we has to order on an app, pay in advance, and TIP in advance! (BTW, T-I-P stands for "to insure promptness", and is by no means an entitlement payment to be given regardless of the services rendered) The prices are ridiculously high, and the food is sub-par. We ordered an appetizer, the worst potato skins I've ever eaten, that came WITH the meal! No one came by to check on us to make sure we had everything... why they insisted on charging for a tip, with no designated server personnel is beyond me! I could go on... there were many other things to mention, but as I said, after talking with Adam, he smoothed things over some. NOTE TO THE UPPER MANAGEMENT: While it's true that you lost business with COVID, your objective should be to give your guests a quality, affordable product so they are inclined to come back. Offer some extended happy hour deals, "buy-one, get-one, etc, to get them in the door... it's a BAR-- if they come in for food, sports and fun, they will stay to DRINK-- which is the primary source of your bar's revenue!! Big Al's is a hit or miss. Some weekends the wait time is 2+ hours and sometimes there's no wait at all. We come here pretty often and the service is usually pretty good. We've also noticed that people have issues here and the police are called very often which is a downside especially when the place is full with kids inside. I've been here several times since I moved to the area and I absolutely love it! I brought my granddaughter here on 11/15/16 to celebrate her 12th birthday. We sat in the restaurant to eat, drink & even watched a Blazer game on their gigantic big screen. Mariah was our server and she was amazing! So friendly & accommodating to all our needs. On 12/30/16 I came back with my 7yr old son & 5yr old grandson for UFC Friday Night Fights. It was super crowded and I was starving! The restaurant was full so we found a table just outside of the arcade that was good enough. We ate, the boys played games and we were able to catch the main card event from the walkway outside of the packed restaurant. The screens are huge so it was no problem being able to see. Ryan was our server and he was completely on point with service and great etiquette. 1/18/17 my 7yr old had early release so I thought we would check out the discount bowling for kids during that time and some happy hour. Sara was our server and she was training Corinna. Both servers were wonderful & sweet! We had a great time! Food, drinks, bowling & games... all so much fun! I truly do love this place! Waited in line about 10 minutes and found that the regular lanes all had an hour wait so we opted for the hour vip bowling area. Not much "vip" about it - service was slow; probably waited 20 minutes for an appetizer and 15 for drinks. Tried the fried pickles which were bad for many reasons-the bread falls right off; you can't piece them with a fork (and no ones going to eat with their hands while bowling) and were bland and mushy instead of crispy. From what I was told over the phone, new for 2018 is no private party room for a kid's birthday party. Kids get a bowling lane for 2 hours. Where do the pizzas, drinks, cupcakes get placed and consumed? Where do the gifts go? Whatever. As the parent, I was not pleased. But the perspective birthday kid was like "no way". Originally, we wanted to do a "teen" party for 3 hours; with the "buffet" of hot dogs and burgers, but was told that each and every person in the private room would have to be charged, so that would mean for every adult (including mom & dad) we would have to pay $30 bucks. Mom is NOT bowling, Mom has ZERO interest in the arcade card, and mom has ZERO! interest in the "buffet". Dad feels the same. As I'm sure each and every parent who would feel the need to chaperone their child would feel. Not to mention, our family friends who's kids are invited. Hey Big Al's, the adults are not interested in your hot dog "buffet". Neither are they interested in your bowling or arcade card. If they are; then charge them. But arbitrarily charging each and every person in the party room is ridiculous! Good luck to you, Big Al's. This is Vancouver, WA, not Portland. If Vancouver parents will continue to book kids birthday parties with you for upwards of $300 without a party room for pizza, cake, and gifts: more power to you. What an amazing place to come and watch any sporting event! The TV is Gigantor miss! The food is awesome the service is great and I couldn't ask for a better place to take the kids for video games and bowling. It is perfectly separated from the bar and arcade room for adult enjoyment. By all means take your time and bring the kids on one side of the restaurant and then enjoy festive beverage on the other. The absolute worst food service I've had in all of Vancouver. They never even brought us full waters, just a pitcher of water and 4 cups, yet the pitcher only filled each cup 1/4 of the way full. One of us ordered a pizza so the group could share, while us other three got wraps and a sandwich. When we ordered, they never told us "The pizza will take longer than the other entrees." or "Just so you know, the food will take a little longer while the pizza cooks." That would have been totally fine! Instead, the three of us got our food and our fourth person never received the pizza until 25min later! Both wraps were made without the ranch inside, so they were completely dry bites of black beans and shredded cheese. We declined to have the wraps remade, but asked for sides of ranch, which didn't come until the last 5min of us being there... We would have asked for the pizza to be totally taken off, or a discount on the wraps, but they now make you pay immediately after ordering! So no open tabs... totally bizarre. I went and got our own boxes, because we weren't about to wait another 15min in there. What a shame because they used to be really good. All we wanted was a nice Father's Day lunch. Extremely slow night, hardly anyone in the bar and the blonde bartender doesn't even know how to greet incoming guests then proceeds to ignore you when you deliberately try to get her attention. Shouldn't be bar tending if you don't know how to run a bar top that isn't even crowded. Won't be coming back. If the bartender doesn't want to make tips then she should work at McDonald's read more
