I popped in for a quick drink while waiting for a food order nearby and was so pleasantly surprised! I'll admit, I was expecting a 'dirty dive' vibe, but I couldn't have been more wrong. The place is ultra-clean and impressively organized for a bar. The service was fantastic, and the happy hour deals make it incredibly affordable. Best of all, the regulars are the perfect crowd-friendly and welcoming without being overbearing. It's the opposite of those bars where you get glared at for being the 'new person.' Obviously a locals place to be. Everyone seemed to know everybody. Definitely nothing fancy, but a great place to come to play pool and watch the game. I've stopped in before a couple years ago, but just for bloody Mary's. I wanted to finally try the food out because I hear such great things. I'm glad I finally did because everything was good! We stopped in on a Thursday and it was packed. Didn't realize Thursdays was when they held their pool tournaments. Full of lots of older folks. We ordered the ribeye steak bites and added mushrooms, bleu cheese crumbles and jalapeños, the patty melt with onions rings, and the fire truck burger with fries. The steak bites were the best I've ever had! So tender, juicy and flavorful. The patty melt was okay, a little bland, and I've had better, but the onion rings were great. The batter was good and similar to that of Red Robin's onion rings. The fire truck burger was good. It came with pepper Jack cheese, jalapeños, and bacon. We loved their fries. They had 1 server working the whole time we were there. It was so busy and she gave such great service, despite all the tables she had to serve. Went for breakfast. I ordered the basic cheap breakfast. 3 eggs, bacon, hash browns and sourdough toast. Service was weak at best. Why is only one person serving the entire restaurant. She obviously favors the regulars as she acknowledged them as they walked in the door and ignored those she didn't know. Be prepared to flag her down and when you do expect a little attitude. "I see you I'll be there" type answer. Breakfast for $10 is just a basic breakfast. Eggs were slightly undercooked (over-medium) and they came a little jizzy. Hash browns were decent and the bacon though tasted of bad grease was cooked well done. OJ was a sour (old, brand?) is it a cheap, no frills breakfast and better than making it all at home. I often visit Auto's for lunch to sit down, have a beer and enjoy one of the best burgers in Vancouver. Yes, the burgers here are even better than dedicated burger joints in town. Beef is fresh chuck, and the buns are a perfect bed for all of the ingredients. They're even embossed with Auto's logo. Juicy, cooked to perfection, and super flavorful. If you're a burger snob like ne, you'll really understand just how great their burgers are. I order the classic with cheese and a load of tots, and I'm set! Staff is amazing and the crowd is usually friendly and social. The interior is spacious, but could use a bit of updating as it does have old and worn feel when building first walk in. Auto's has that neighborhood bar vibe. The last time I went, it was a Thursday and I think a pool league was playing. There were a ton of people, and it was pretty loud. Neither factor prevented our waitress from giving us good service. In fact, I talked to a couple of the servers, and they were all really pleasant. Focused on their work but pleasant. My boyfriend ordered a burger, and he reported it was delicious. We also got a side of onion rings, which were large, crispy, and plentiful. I ordered a grilled cheese because vegetarian pickings are slim. I could have ordered a few fried appetizers as a meal or chosen one of three salads (if you get a taco salad with no meat). I went with the grilled cheese because they offer a deluxe grilled cheese, which adds pickles, onions, multiple cheeses, and tomato to the classic. It also comes with bacon, which I ordered on the side and gave to my boyfriend. The sandwich was tasty. I had some tummy trouble later. My boyfriend said it was because the bacon I ordered on the side (for the boyfriend to eat) left a small pool of bacon grease on the plate that likely got on my sandwich. That's on me. If you are a vegetarian who is sensitive to meats, be vigilant about not cross-contaminating your food. I hope the restaurant does that as well. I have been going to this Pub for over 15 years, was always a great experience! Until today! I had one drink, played some pool while waiting for the food next door to be ready which was approx. 40 min. When the "server" heard I ordered chinese food next door she started behaving very inappopraitely. The atmosphere at Auto's was neighborhood friendly both times we have eaten there. Not sure if it's a tavern with food or a restaurant that has a bar. Our server was friendly and helpful for newbies wishing I could remember her name. The food was great my wife had a cheese burger and I had their Loaded Grilled Cheese both were delicious. The highlight for me was the enchilada soup, I make a tortilla soup that is my favorite or was until I had their enchilada soup it was the best restaurant soup I have ever had. The food is great and the majority of the time the service is too BUT the sound system for music is TERRIBLE! With all the Bluetooth options available these days that are affordable with really good sound, there's no reason for the music to sound like its coming from a transistor radio! Stopped in to Auto's Pub today for the first time. Had the Smokey and the Bandit Burger and the Chicken Burger - both were excellent. Crispy tots and flavorful sweet potato fries. Server, Emily, was friendly, professional, made informed recommendations, and provided great service. Now be prepared, the decor is a little dated but the restaurant is clean, the music is fun and the right volume and the outstanding food quality/value more than delivers for a great overall experience. Absolutely the worst bar experience I have ever had. My group came to this bar post wedding for the wedding party and close friends for the after party. When I walked into the bar I was really hopeful because there was a great atmosphere and plenty of pool tables for us all to enjoy. I spent 7 minutes flagging down the bartender to order our drink, and then waited 15 minutes for Dominique to pour them. I thought maybe she was catching up on her orders so I gave her the benefit of the doubt. It got to the point that I requested two rounds at a time so that we could have our shots within a reasonable time. She poured our first round, charged me for both rounds and that then made us wait for 40 minutes to pour us our next round, and then cut us off before we got the second round. Fundamentally if her excuse was that she didn't want to over serve us then she should have cut us off before taking our order. Instead we were charged for our order and then bound to the property so that we could not accept bad service and move on to enjoy another bar. read more

Several people that came in after us received their food and actually finished by the time our food came. The Burger was marginal and the tater tots cold. The worst part was when she told us that it was a busy time and everyone else was waiting too. That was a complete lie since at least 3 other parties came in and had food well before us. Our drink orders were wrong nearly every time with both servers. The wait was long, despite not being busy. Our food order was wrong, which they recognized and we decided to take it anyway. If you haven't visited autos yet do yourself a favor and check them out. The atmosphere is great with what seems like hundreds of TV's this is the perfect spot to come catch that game and a drink. The food is some of the best for a "bar" which that word does not do this place justice. With daily specials you cannot make a wrong choice. The service is also top notch every employee here seems happy and puts pride into their work which is always nice to see. If you like old school sports bars this is your new spot. Food was insanely good, especially for the price. Not sure where else you can get a craft 1/2 pound cheeseburger for 10 bucks anymore. Both the presentation and taste were top notch. The staff were all friendly, engaged in conversation and the vibe generally was welcoming. Took auto's a few months to adapt to the Covid restrictions, with initially poor communication and limited and unpredictable hours. Now, however, they're back in business with solid hours and indoor dining (with social distancing in effect of course) and delicious food as always. We come here at least once a month for breakfast. It is Usually Great! My only complaint is the eggs. When I order over easy I basically get sunny side up flipped over. Raw underneath! I order my eggs on the side so it does not mess up my meal. But once again they put the raw eggs on my plate then took it off after realizing g I asked for eggs on the side, and put it on a separate plate. I was a regular at auto's before covid and avoided it for a long time during this stuff. Recently we've been here a few times and felt safe enough, but today I am basically never coming back. You can expect the typical "Vantucky" kind of customers here and while most adhere to the mask rule there are some that really don't give a shit. To make things worse when a waitress does try to enforce it and gets flack, the owner who is sitting nearby doesn't say anything. Today I have seen numerous ppl walk in and out with no mask, half aren't even wearing them right when they do and what makes me mad is that there are a lot of other customers who are older and more at risk but nobody gives a shit. This isn't so much about the service because the waitress' are doing what they can, this is more about the owner who is literally just sitting there doing nothing when a waitress is treated like shit when she's trying to keep the rest of the patrons safe. Worst service ever. Thanks Auto's for ruining Fathers Day. Great to see the owner getting drunk at the bar and watching his waitresses scrambling to get orders out obviously missing mine. We sat for over an hour waiting for food. Took 15 min just to be acknowledged...I got up and got my husband's coffee and my second drink. Waitress couldn't be bothered to get our order. After an hour we left. I've been a patron at this establishment since I moved into the area in 2002. Jim the owner needs to either give up as owner or learn how to treat his customers. We stopped in for a few drinks and to play pool. They have free pool on Sundays. My husband orderd a pitcher of beer for his dad and himself and I had a Deep Eddy drink, only after trying to order a Mojito but was told they don't have mint to make that drink. The total was 21.50. I wish I was offered a receipt to see how much each item was. There were a fair amount of customers at 5pm on a Sunday, however I did notice a few that had been over served. Thats a huge liability to the owner and the service staff if someone gets behind the wheel. Auto's Pub is a large carpeted room with pool, darts, video poker, large screen televisions and some other typical pub amenities. Here's what they do right: 1) Their tater tots are amazing 2) The food is pretty good for pub food 3) Their chicken strips are solidly rated on the chicken strips goodness scale Here's where they miss the mark: 1) Their service is not-so-great. It takes a really long time to get your food (like an unreasonably long time). Although the wait staff I've met has been nice, it just takes way too long to order and to get your order. 2) They blast horrible club music at 11am. Really? The bar is full of business folks grabbing food and out of work pool sharks. There's light pouring in the windows onto their dusty green carpet. Somehow the club remix of Rihanna at full blast level doesn't seem to fit in. read more
