We had two meals: dinner, and then breakfast the following morning. The grilled veggie sandwich with fries was OK, but nothing special. But the halibut and chips (got onion rings instead) were stupendous, just out of this world good! Huge chunks of halibut, looking like fritters. But oh so good, and a great value for the amount of fish you get. For breakfast, standard fare is good - my wife had 2 eggs over medium, hash browns and a biscuit, and I had 3 eggs over easy, hash browns, rye toast, and link sausages. Both were great. And then there are the people - so nice, so involved with their customers. They've been there for a long time, and they know how to run a great business. If you do nothing else, get the halibut and chips. Sadly, my substantial tip (which appeared on my credit card slip) did not get entered into their machine after breakfast - they lost out on a big tip (or perhaps chose not to enter it?).

They also sell homemade pastries (in fact, everything is homemade) and bread. The dining room is lovely but it was VERY WARM in there so we ate outside on the patio. I highly recommend this place!!!

My biggest criticism is that there are signs that say there's no WiFi, however, in a town with limited phone service, this restaurant has a QR code linking to the website and a QR code to rate it on Google, but not good enough service to connect. If you do have the opportunity to visit there, don't miss this place if you can help it. I love, love, love smoked Salmon. Salmon in any form really, but there is some magical alchemy that happens when wild Salmon caught in Alaska is smoked with Alder wood. The Salmon from Dejon Delights is actually what I refer to in my Yelp profile as my "last meal on Earth." Yep, specifically the stuff from this place. Now, I know some of you may be looking at the prices for various types of Salmon and getting some sticker shock but my advice is this: if you absolutely must have Sockeye or Coho and can afford it, please do so, but if you want to try something less costly get the Keta Salmon. It's really awesome! When I was there a few years back I got a sample pack with all three. Sockeye and Coho have a higher fat content so being more rich and buttery some people will pay for the good stuff. However, in my opinion the Keta is great tasting, more bang for the buck delicious. I eat it straight, crumbled into an omelette or scrambled eggs (don't even need to salt the eggs!) or with some sourdough bread and cream cheese. There are other good things that should make any foodie happy. It's hard to go wrong with anything they offer.

Got off the ship, did our excursion and walked into town at about 11:30 am, lunch time. So the town was a buzz and SUNNY. People walking around in shorts, tshirts, tank tops. In other words, it was a beautiful warm day. At 70 degrees. After trying out the dough bread in the shade, we did a bit of walking, sipping of water to stay hydrated as there was very little breeze. Oh, and the mosquitoes! They're so big in Skagway. Then we came across Kone. My sister needed an ice cream. The line was out the door but we were the third group outside of the door which isn't too bad. Kone is a candy store but people were here for the ice cream. Ice cream served was Dreyers. I got a wildberry sorbet that I don't Normally see on a menu. It's a bit sweeter than a raspberry. Very good. I also got the Bavarian nuts because I don't see these around as often and it was as good as I remembered. All the kids working the counter, there were a few of them, were all very helpful. About 30-minutes later as we were walking past and back to the ship, the line for Kone was long as the day was getting warmer.

The space was small so it is helpful if one or two people go in to order and get everything. The ice cream was nothing special or specific to the area but was refreshing. I think there were also flavored sodas too but we didn't get a chance to try those.

The brewer who did our tour was super enthusiastic and fun to hang out with. He made sure our glasses were topped off and gave a great talk about the workings of the brewery and his passion for beer. We got to try three 8-oz samples and a full pint, all included with the tour. The beer was good and the root beer was great. I highly recommend that you make sure to try the root beer and the coffee stout; they were the most delicious. The lighter beers were good too, but not as flavorful. The tour was too short, though. Our day in Skagway was quite long, and this only filled part of the afternoon. And it could easily have been longer, too, since getting people to chug four glasses of beer in less than an hour really rushes the experience. The bus company that took us to and from the brewery was also very good. The drivers talked extensively about the town and its history, even fielding impromptu questions.

We were only there long enough to taste beer, so I can really only speak to that. We did a tasting of six beers, and I can't say I much cared for any of them. A lot of them had a sour, funky kind of thing happening, which, if it was intentional, was just not to my taste. Some of the heavier ones were okay (bigger flavors masked some of the funky), but we couldn't finish the lighter ones because of it. At least the service was good.
