Got off the ship, did our excursion and walked into town at about 11:30 am, lunch time. So the town was a buzz and SUNNY. People walking around in shorts, tshirts, tank tops. In other words, it was a beautiful warm day. At 70 degrees. After trying out the dough bread in the shade, we did a bit of walking, sipping of water to stay hydrated as there was very little breeze. Oh, and the mosquitoes! They're so big in Skagway. Then we came across Kone. My sister needed an ice cream. The line was out the door but we were the third group outside of the door which isn't too bad. Kone is a candy store but people were here for the ice cream. Ice cream served was Dreyers. I got a wildberry sorbet that I don't Normally see on a menu. It's a bit sweeter than a raspberry. Very good. I also got the Bavarian nuts because I don't see these around as often and it was as good as I remembered. All the kids working the counter, there were a few of them, were all very helpful. About 30-minutes later as we were walking past and back to the ship, the line for Kone was long as the day was getting warmer.

The space was small so it is helpful if one or two people go in to order and get everything. The ice cream was nothing special or specific to the area but was refreshing. The stars are the homemade fudge and the roasted nuts! It was so good that I only got a small bite & no pictures. My family devoured. I think there were also flavored sodas too but we didn't get a chance to try those.

It's a small business that offers hot and cold beverages, freshly baked pastries, and grab-and-go items. As we were walking in, we were instantly greeted with friendly and efficient service. We decided to order the Foxy Latte and a Vanilla Matcha which were two of their favorite recommended drinks. Our drinks were prepared quickly and we checked out a few of their cute merchandise while we waited. The Foxy Latte was very smooth and creamy with a strong espresso flavor. It was so delicious, I couldn't stop drinking it. The Vanilla Matcha had a mellow blend of earthy green tea with warm vanilla notes. Its subtle sweetness balanced out the slight bitterness from the matcha. This cafe made our day and we couldn't be happier with the overall experience.

The fries are fine, just typical fries, so let's move on. We had the Halibut. Every halibut dreams of one day growing up and being this tasty. It too was incredibly fresh.

The store is very close to the cruise ship terminal, in fact we could see it from deck. The folks inside the store were very helpful, with plenty of samples and advice about what may fit our tastes. Ended up buying smoked salmon and halibut but they were out of the legendary smoked cod. I asked them about fresh salmon to be shipped home and they told us about their shipping program. When we returned home From our cruise, I gave them a call and ordered 10 pounds of fresh sockeye salmon. Unfortunately, due to Fed Ex dropping the ball, most of the salmon was partially thawed when it arrived. I called Jon at Dejon Delights and he immediately contacted Fed Ex then called me back. Even though Fed Ex refused to help out, Jon didn't hesitate to make it right for us. He shipped a nice assortment of smoked salmon and cod worth more than the original salmon shipment. Jon gave me great customer service, and has communicated very clearly with me. I feel he has gone above and beyond to make me happy. The fish products that we purchased in the store and the replacement fish have been excellent. I will buy more smoked fish from him again soon. Don't miss Dejon Delights if you happen to be in Haines Alaska.

We had two meals: dinner, and then breakfast the following morning. The grilled veggie sandwich with fries was OK, but nothing special. But the halibut and chips (got onion rings instead) were stupendous, just out of this world good! Huge chunks of halibut, looking like fritters. But oh so good, and a great value for the amount of fish you get. For breakfast, standard fare is good - my wife had 2 eggs over medium, hash browns and a biscuit, and I had 3 eggs over easy, hash browns, rye toast, and link sausages. Both were great. And then there are the people - so nice, so involved with their customers. They've been there for a long time, and they know how to run a great business. If you do nothing else, get the halibut and chips.
