Straight and simple: this is the best overall BBQ joint I've ever been to in my entire life…read more I am a Dallas native who comes to Fort Smith on occasion. I've tried Dallas BBQ, Fort Worth BBQ, and even Chinese BBQ. Who would have thought that Fort Smith BBQ would be on top. My experience: I came with my girlfriend and ordered catfish with ribs + okra and beans then for dessert an apple pie. I was happy that the okra was pipping hot and delicious. Great! Then I tried the catfish... Woah.. fresh, crispy, juicy catfish. Okay. Didn't expect it to be that good but whatever. Then I dipped it in the tarter sauce - okay. Now they must be kidding me. Even the tarter sauce was good. I loved the ribs, the sauce, everything! It was delicious! So what did you think I thought when I tried the Apple pie? 5/5 The people are great too

Cute place, not terribly crowded. Friendly server. They start you off with two kinds of pickles: one sweet (though they are pickled with jalapenos) and your more sour/salty pickle - both were excellent. I got three meats and two sides: chopped chicken, hot links, smoked sausage, hush puppies, and baked beans. Both of us liked the chicken! They are more of a dry rub place, though sauce is available (vinegar-based). The hot links weren't what I'd call "hot" - more salty, but tasty. The smoked sausage had more of a kick to it, a nice smokiness with a kick at the end. The hush puppies were a little bit of a let-down as I found them to be a bit denser than I would prefer, but they were cooked in fresh grease, so props to them for that. The baked beans tasted homemade and I rather enjoyed them and I'm not normally a fan. My husband got the all-you-can-eat catfish and ribs plate with coleslaw and okra. I tried a bite of the coleslaw and thoroughly enjoyed it - again, it tasted homemade as I could really taste the freshness of the cabbage. Didn't try the okra, but Khoa ate them all, so he must have liked 'em. He had never had ribs before and wasn't a fan (he doesn't like fatty cuts of meat), so I gave him my chicken for his ribs: I enjoyed the ribs. Again, they come with a dry rub that offers some nice seasoning without overpowering your palate. The fried catfish was fresh and delicious; I would definitely come back here for the catfish! We enjoyed it enough to go again, so I would recommend giving it a try.

That's why I gave it a 4 vs a 5 - price point is very high and you cook your own food - unless you purchase from the menu which is what I will plan to do if I go again. The service is fine and the folks were friendly - that should be for steak prices - for a family of 4 - we spent $200+/- with tip - why tip if you cook your own food!?!? I don't mind places like this - they are cool for something different but probably isn't my fave way to spend the money and the night cooking. I can do it cheaper at home - and usually better too IMO.

I'm glad there is a hot pot/bbq place in Fort Smith. I like how there is no rush to finish, only a…read morefee if there are leftovers. The sauce bar is plentiful of ingredients, so you can make a sauce to taste. Because of these factors, I leave with a full belly. I would say eating here is a bit pricey for the amount of options and limits they have, but it's a nice place to eat with friends or family. It would be nice if the octopus/calamari was served unseasoned and for all of the ingredients to be interchangeable for hotpot or bbq. I feel like this limit causes people to be less open to purchasing one option over the other, or could pose as a deal breaker -- sometimes I end up not going because I'm in the mood for octopus in soup. Other comments: I also think it's out of the ordinary for octopus to be grilled over being boiled in Asian cuisine, but this can be an unpopular opinion of mine. Also when ordering a serving of tofu, I only get 3-4 small tofu blocks. Only a minor inconvenience. Service is fast and friendly, and it's nice how proactive the servers are.
