Im giving Big Al's 3 stars because the food was disgusting, I ordered the philly cheesesteak and the meat was dry, and tasted horrible and everyone at the table had cold food. My husband got the Western BBQ burger and immediately after we left he began to threw up in the parking lot. What stopped me giving this place a 1 star was because the arcade was really fun for my 2.5 yr old, my husband and myself. I just showed up to Big Als to watch the UFC fight, well only sort of. Really I was there to hang out with a good friend who likes UFC a lot and tends to watch it there. I've never been a fan of Big Al's, they have sub-par food and nothing really going for their sports bar area. But I figured hell with it, I'll get some beer and food and hang out with a friend for a while. I showed up and was asked to pay a 15 dollar cover charge... Let me say that again. A FIFTEEN DOLLAR COVER CHARGE. For this shitty place? Whoever made this choice is a grade A moron. I was likely to spend a good amount on food and beer, but I noped right the hell out of there. Who in their right mind thought that room was worth 15 dollars just to sit in? 15 dollars to pay for their shit food? 15 dollars to choose from a list of mundane beer? I mean. Look at these other reviews for the food. This place isn't great. Big Al's ruined the night. I hope this place goes under with the amount of business they are turning away. It was my Birthday and had a group of 4. My friend ordered two drinks for us to share. They didn't see me drink them too and before we were done with them the manager came over and very rudely said we were cut off. I asked why and he told us a law about one person not being able to have two drinks. I told him it was my birthday and we were sharing them. He looked me dead in my eyes and said I'm sorry no. I was shocked. Did I need to ask him to check the security tape. I asked am I aloud to order another drink. He said no you lost the privilege. It took everything in me to not be rude back. So all I said was ok well thank you"sarcastically". I've never been treated so rudely by a manager. We weren't tipsy or being extra doing anything to make us stand out. Took a group of kids for a birthday party. $250 for an hour of bowling, two poor pizzas, and 15 $5 game cards. Would not go back. I was confused when I asked for 15 cards x $5 = $91. I sorted it out and they charge $2 to activate one of their game cards. What the..?! So I needed 8 new cards in addition to the 7 I brought. Why would they charge $2 to activate a $5 card? My wife and I were hankering something different for dinner and we chose Big Als because we were thinking of different types of food and figured maybe we could each get what we wanted at the same time. Well we were not disappointed. We had a fantastic experience!! First of all we were promptly greeted and sat in the bar area in a nice booth. The food was fantastic considering I was just expecting some basic bar food for a football crowd. I ordered the pork belly appetizer and a Philly steak sandwich. The good; the bar upstairs is clean and has reasonable price drinks and has great pool tables and TVs! Cons, We got there and were told it was 35min wait (that's not to bad) so we said ok and went to the bar and killed time. We finally get the text that said our lane was ready, we go to cash out and get stuck waiting on the only bartender (who was overworked) and get down 12mins after the text. Come to find out they gave away our lane!! We were told we would have to re-wait and that they wouldn't do anything to help. it was just sad!! I came here for my company Christmas party. My only beef is that the bar menu does not have prices for beers or mixed drinks so I had to keep asking, since the cheapest beer was $6 and I didn't want to accidentally order a drink and get charged $12. Strangely, the wines had prices. I also ordered an Old Fashioned, which said it came with a slice of bacon and a liqueur with the whisky, but it came out - both times - as a full drink (must have had ginger ale or something added). It also said it came with a orange and did not, either time. My buddy ordered the same and his was full of fruit and no bacon. Soo weird. The both tasted good, but adding a mixer makes it not an Old Fashioned. This is definitely a place you come with kids, because it's big, bright and loud. I am not much of a bowler, but I am even less a video game person, so I ordered the bacon, whisky drink, ate with my group, bowled a game and left. Unfortunately, our employee committee does not allow for employees to bring their kids. Last year, we were served an array of Mexican food items. The flautas were the best! But so were the tacos and everything else. This year, our employee committee chose the Asian buffet. Not a good idea. The noodles were okay. There were no sauces to dip the egg rolls or skewers in (they were dry), or to put on the rice. It was bland even after we requested soy sauce (I'd have much preferred peanut sauce, teriyaki sauce or sweet chili sauce). The broccoli beef was good - except that I don't like broccoli, so I just picked the meat out. It was lackluster but edible. Hopefully next year, if we go back, our employee committee will opt for a more flavorful buffet. That said, the evening was better than just staying home - but I think families would have a lot more fun than a single person who is not a fantasy football, video game, arcade game, bowling fan. Went to Big Al's for a late night game of bowling. Got there around 9PM and was told that a party of 3 would only have time for 1 game. Shoe rental + 1 game was bout 11$ per person. The staff was not very friendly, but our encounter was brief. We were set up on lane 2, next to the only other group there. I wished we could have had more space between our groups since all the other lanes were empty. We finished our game around 9:20PM, and since we weren't allowed to play a 2nd game, just left after that. It was fun, but I wish the staff would have been nicer and more accommodating. read more

We were not able to secure the lanes until all the kids were present. They wouldn't put ice cream cake from Baskin Robbins in original box purchased 15 minutes earlier to put in their freezer. The info is not on the website as well. Food was ok. The arcade games averaged from $1.5. Overall I'll be looking into another place for upcoming birthdays. We came in last night and ordered some appetizers and drinks at the Caddyshack. I have a wheat allergy so I asked the bar tender, Jeff to help me with the menu as their food items aren't labeled (gluten free menu items would be so helpful). When our food came out, the steak bites weren't made as requested even though Jeff said he put the order in correctly and mentioned I had a wheat allergy. They remade them but they were inedible so we sent them back. The food was pretty bad but we were starving so we ate some of it. I started feeling sick almost immediately so we left shortly thereafter. I assumed that there was some wheat/gluten in the food and I was up all night with terrible stomach cramps and was terribly ill. When I checked in with my friend, however, she was also up all night with the same symptoms so we can only assume food poisoning of some sort. Big Al's you really need to work on your food game... it was not good, poor quality and made us extremely sick! The bartenders are not the friendliest. While they weren't rude, they weren't attentive. The girls at the down stairs bar were panicked with the work load. One looked like she just rolled outta bed. Upstairs was no better. The guys were not paying attention to who approached the bar first to order. We ordered dirty fries and they came cold. I noticed that the bowl they were served in was the same bowl the bar back was using to push and compact the trash before emptying the trash. Just not nice to see. First time here and came with friends who live locally. It's a pretty big place and has an arcade upstairs. It was a little busy so we put our name on the waitlist and had some drinks in the bar. Waited maybe about 10 minutes and then were able to go to our lane. Our lane for reason kept jamming and we kept having the employees come out and help. After the 4th time it happened our waitress gave us all $5 cards for the arcade as an apology. We ended up going upstairs and playing some games and have our cards to other kids. Big Al's in Beaverton, OR is ridiculous. The manager is a Seahawk die hard and refused to play the sound for the 49ers/Chiefs game even though the restaurant was filled with 49ers fans. Seemed like he did not want to support 49ers fans coming into the restaurant by playing the sound to their games because plenty of us left after the first half. Instead they played the Broncos/Cardinals game and there was maybe 2 people watching. Smh. He also laughed at me with his buddy and coworker as I walked away. I would understand if the Seahawks were playing, but they were not. They play Monday Night. It's not cool to let your petty hate for the 49ers to get in the way of letting YOUR PAYING CUSTOMERS watch what they want to watch. I was not the only person irritated by this manager's decision. I did find out the manager's name, but I don't believe in messing with others people grind to make it in this world. It's bad karma. So I will leave him out of this. But I do believe in making other people aware of times like these. I have been here other times and the establishment is great. Good food, drinks with fast service. The staff has usually been very accommodating and kind. Maybe because it was game day I was feeling easily irritated, or maybe because I honestly thought he was short and rude to me, I don't know. There's a ton of types of games to enjoy - Clean, clean, clean - Plenty of parkin' Cons - Expensive. I mean. Whoa. Massively expensive. I rarely get out of here for under $40....but usually more. Man, it's just...EXPENSIVE. - Loud. This ain't the place to have a quiet or even moderate noise level conversation - Kids. Or "kids who run around like it's Chucky Cheese". I know it's really more on the parents to make sure their lil' offspring aren't ricocheting off innocent people but still, it's GD annoying at 10pm when you'd think they'd be gone. I've been to Big Al'S three times now. The first time the service was great and the food was ok. The last two times the service was awful and the food was not good. We decided to try Big Al's for New Year's Eve, that was a mistake. The service was horrible. . I ordered the streak bites and the sauce was flavorless and the steak was tough and had no flavor. The waitress seemed to be irritated and didn't give us any utensils. We ordered drinks and she never came back with them. I can never get past the URL, which I always incorrectly interpret as, "I love big gals." I've been to Big Al's twice in the past year for special events, so I've yet to have the basic walk-in-the-door experience. The first time, I was there for a corporate event so we had a private room and bowling lanes. The second time was for a special Winterhawks event, the NHL Draft Party, in the massive TV room. It felt like I was in Vegas. Not really, but probably the closest facsimile you'll find in Beaverton. Four massive screens and several smaller ones around the side, make it an interesting option for game day viewing. The room is decorated 50-50 to honor Ducks and Beavers fans, so conceivably they could be broadcasting both games at the same time with fans sitting on either side. We ordered items off the Happy Hour menu and it was pretty much what I would expect. Both the catering at our event and the food purchased in the media area were your basic fare. So I wouldn't recommend you go here for the food. My sons do enjoy going here for birthday parties and roam around the the arcade with friends. I'm always amazed when they don't get lost since the place is so massive. Big Al's is really about the multi-media experience. If you just want to go bowling, you'll spend less money at your local place. But Big Al's is for those days when you want an over-the-top experience. read more

REALLY, REALLY LOUD AND NOISY! Oh, sorry about yelling. That is what you have to do to talk to someone right next to you. The whole place is loud and noisy, except for the bar on the second floor which the kids can not enter. We came here to try the restaurant and found a whole lot of other stuff, as you already know. Yep, it was a "Whoa" moment when we walked through for the first time. Bella, on the other hand was, "COOL!" We went to the restaurant and was seated on the bottom floor near the first aisle in a half booth facing the huge screens. This could have been the best seat in the house except everyone walked in front of you all the time. All the servers walked past carrying food and drinks for other tables. All the guests were walked right in front of your table to be seated at there's. Everyone heading for the washrooms passed right in from of you.... Tip: Don't sit in that booth. Pick one further to the right if you can. What about the food? Crap. Yep just bar fly crap. I'm so drunk I don't care what I eat crap. Can I have a side of food with my grease, crap. **Sports Bar & Grill review only** The sports bar is every sports fan's dream come true. Walk in & you see a panorama screen extending from one side of the room to the other broadcasting a collage of smaller screens with live sports television. We just stood there in awe for a moment before taking a seat at the bar. We were there to watch the Blazers game & for how crowded it was, it wasn't very loud. The bar is one of the largest, most impressive looking bars I've seen but the food was not as equally impressive. We ordered the classic cheeseburger ($10.50) & the Near Death burger ($13) because we missed their happy hour which is 3-6pm & 9pm-close M-Th, 3-6pm & 10pm-close Friday, Saturday 10pm-close & Sunday 9pm-close. This is bar food so you can't expect greatness. I could see the caesar salad had been prepared hours before due to its soggy, wilting appearance; a lot like how Olive Garden serves theirs. The burgers arrived & they did the job by filling our empty stomachs. The "Near Death" burger is extremely spicy & also the burgers are made without onions. I don't particularly enjoy smelling or having onion breath but I do like a little onion on my burger for that crunch & extra flavor. The fries were very salty that just after one fry my hands swelled due to excess sodium intake. ;-P We'll definitely be back for more sports but as for the food we'll hit their happy hour instead. The prices are more reasonable at that time for the quality of food given. Bring the whole family because minors are allowed in the back area of the bar. I have managed to make it (almost) to my Golden Years with never having been in a sports bar, what a mistake that has been!!! Big Al's is fun, BIG, and full of energy -- kinda like a casino without the gambling machines. We were overwhelmed when we first walked in and went right to the front desk and asked for advice. Very friendly and helpful younger generation employees gave us a veritable tour of the place, sharing helpful tips about the dining choices, the various types of bars, where the arcade was (as well as the elevators & bathrooms ;)) Right when you walk in, you have the bowling area. Lots of families the day we visited and it was a pleasure just to sit and watch the fun. I have only bowled once in my life - and had a great time - but I can't get past renting and wearing shoes that hundreds of people before me have worn. Don't hate now but EWWWW, it's just downright germy & creepy. Yes, it's my phobia, what can I say? We ended up in one of the bigger bars with big screen TVs EVERYWHERE tuned to various football games but all on closed captioning (no sound). Our waiter Sean, was fabulous! He even explained to us how to listen to the football games using the hearTV app, which we installed on our phones while we were there. We told him it was our first time and he shared what he especially liked on the menu but you have to order the burgers at Big Al's, it's the law. Perfectly grilled, top quality meat and toppings. Oh, you can have pizza, sandwiches, salads, deep-fried anything, and over the top desserts, but try one of the burgers at least once. Oh and don't forget the bars, multiples of them. Big Al's is so fun! My inner kid came out as I ran....yes, ran towards the ski ball and whack-a-mole games. I came in around 10pm on a Thursday which was perfect. Not overly crowded and was able to play pool and video games with no wait. COOL: Indoor golf! Nice pool tables. Glass windows all over second floor peeking into downstairs bar with giant projector screens. I didn't try out the downstairs bar but it looked super cool. I will certainly have to give a try once football kicks into gear. NOT-SO-COOL: The bar area upstairs by the pool tabels was closed....I understand if they do this due to lack of people but it seemed a bit odd. Plus, I didn't see that I could go buy a drink elsewhere and take it around with me. I get it, it's not an adult only place. The bowling during the week late-night was pretty cheap. Weekends....WAY super expensive. That was a downer for me. Other than that it seems like a good place to hang out for a couple hours. Big Al's sent me an email about being upgraded to their new MVP status (previously VIP). It comes with a lot of perks that the email says it's now preloaded. I sent them an email on Monday asking some questions about it and 5 days later, no reply. I can understand it taking up 72 hours but this is not good customer service. Some of the perks sound like you would need to make a prior reservation so I don't want to drive all the way down here just to be told that was the case. This place is HUGE compared to Dave and Busters. I came to visit my BF and he took me here to watch a game. Great place for the family! They have a little bit for everyone: restaurant, bowling ally, games, shuffle board, pool tables, bars, poker room and TVs galore. Hard to figure how to review this place. Certain things it does really well, certain things are utter and complete failures. There's an adult arcade (with kids allowed). Drinking and games? Can't argue with that. The bowling alley was sufficient, though didn't have a lot of selection for balls when the place was busy. We also had to wait over an hour to get a lane, which gave us time to play in the arcade upstairs, so not a huge deal. Beer selection might have been good, but the server wasn't willing to tell me what they had on tap. I got the "what do you like?" response. I like knowing what's on tap, that's what I like... Sports bar area looked really awesome. Vegas-style wall of screens. Would be a fun place to watch games on the weekend. Then there's the food... On Thursday, they end up closing early for the evening for a special event and it is stated no where on their website, even though a lady told us "should have checked the website". Why don't we have one of these in Seattle? Big Al's is SO cool. The place is HUGE and there's SO much to do!!! Bowling? Check. Neon lit/strobe lighting bowling? Check. Arcade games? Check. Gigantic TV screens to watch football on? Check. Decent bar food? Check. I'm definitely missing a lot of other features of the place, but there's too many to list out. Overall, I think most people would have a great time because there's a lot to do, sure, everything will cost some money, but at least there are options. The space is GINORMOUS! I seriously thought it was some kind of convention center at first and had no idea what to expect, but really it's like a huge playground for adults and kids. The arcade section was cool too with all these games I've never seen before: larger than life digital Connect Four? AWESOME! There were plenty of coin dozer games too (which I am currently obsessed with on my iPad), but anyway, there was also this four-player air hockey game (I've never seen that before either.) Came here on 3/23 for happy hour with a friend. We were originally going to meet for tea but it was one of those nights where we both could use some drinks! We looked at the regular menu and the prices are a bit out there and from asking around/reading yelp (and previous visits) I know it's not worth it. But for happy hour, it's not a bad price! The drinks were huge, the food was happy hour sized and a good "deal". My friend ordered a margarita and the grilled cheese sliders with tomato soup. I ordered a lynchburg lemonade, chicken caesar and some fries to share. The fries--some were overcooked. Oh well, it's hh and we had large drinks. The caesar had 2 croutons on the plate, one was quite large and I jokingly told my friend it was cornbread. When I bit into it though, it was cornbread! Jalapeno and corn cornbread! That does not go with a caesar. not even a little bit. They might have even had cheese in them, I'm not sure but it was awkward and I didn't eat them with the salad. Kudos to the kitchen for being inventive but yuck! Service was great, we had a super friendly waitress and you could tell it wasn't fake, which I appreciate. I'd probably come back for the happy hour if I'm in the area but I wouldn't seek it out. I definitely wouldn't come for the regular food again. The place is huge and there are so many screens which can be somewhat distracting for my ADHD self--but I imagine watching games would be great (blazers had just lost to the lakers that night). First time here. A solid three star experience. Their downfall is what the kitchen is sending out. So.... we went here this past weekend with friends. We thought it was an A-OK time. Great for drinks and games. Fun,loud,and exciting. Food was decent quality executed poorly. Service was good. But it took a long time for our food to come out. Ordered the greek bowl. -They forgot the olives and the cornbread. Something in this bowl, which was more like a salad, tasted moldy. I couldn't see what it was because it is dark in the bowling alley. Perhaps moldy lettuce? Ordered the veggie pizza - They forgot the artichokes. The crust was slightly underdone. otherwise it was pretty good. Ordered the nacho -A huge heaping mountain of chips with sparse and missing toppings. Toppings on the summit of the mound. Some cheese, chicken, and sour cream and barely any pico de gallo. I saw no black beans or guac. After you ate of the summit, one is left with 80% bare chips with no coverage. It would be best if they spread the chips over a large pizza pan and covered them all rather than a sparsely covered mountain. I hate that!!!! My friend had to order 3 cups of salsa to cover the remaining chips. This did not resemble the photo at all. Very sad! The Grand Slam Platter That is just a basic platter of fried stuff. Of course it came out fine. They have the ingredients to make the food great. The kitchen staff just need more training. Drinks were decent. Our server did a great job. Bowling- I guess there is an adults only and a family section. we were in the family section. We worry about little tots running around and their potential of getting hurt. They could get their hand hurt in the ball return. There almost needs to be a third bowling alley for families with toddlers and infants. Hmm.... dark black light bowling with kiddos who can barely walk, let alone follow safety commands. We are in the medical field so we are always on the lookout for safety concerns. When bowling with friends and family why is there only 4 seats at each bowling terminal? If I bring 6-8 friends with me how will we all sit together? This seating situation needs rethought. It is all fun and games. I want to go back and see what else they have to offer. I want to check out the grownup's areas. This place is huge. They should offer tours for first timers. overall it was fine but do not play the arcades they will take your money pretty much every game and if it doesn't take your money it wont give you your tickets I probably lost around $10 and 750 tickets cause of this and most the games don't work. Terrible service took 10-15 minutes for a server to come to our table to take our order. We were put way in a corner and forgotten. The servers and bartender stood around the bar and only helped the tables near them. I would have ordered another drink but no one around to order from. We took our 2 year old bowling for the first time and we all had a great experience. Every single staff person we had contact with was super friendly and seemed genuinely happy to have us there. They provided a ramp and a lighter ball to help our little one with her bowling. Our server was very attentive and kept making sure we had everything we needed. The food was delicious and had huge portions. The kids meal came with a $5 card to use at the arcades. The food cost more than I usually like to pay for a lunch, but we have plenty of left overs to eat for dinner so it works out. And it's so convenient to be served food and drinks while bowling.
