Not Big 5 Downey - Keep going down Firestone and head to Cerritos!
Tina N.

I WILL NEVER COME BACK TO THIS BIG 5 AGAIN!!! Warning! This review is more like a note for management. Please get your store and the 2 ladies who worked yesterday 8/24/2019 together! Full Disclosure: The store is AWFUL! The merchandise is poorly coordinated not consistently grouped together. There is no displays. Nothing seems to be where it should be and SADLY there's no customer service. This place needs help!! Seriously there is no way you can be in and out of here if you're looking for something specific. Tip: IF you are thinking of coming here to buy something, and looking for something specific?! Keep driving down Firestone until you hit the 605 South freeway and head over to Dicks Sporting Goods or The Big 5 in Cerritos since NO ONE will bother to help you anyway. The customer service here does not exist. Had one of the worst experiences trying to shop for something here. My Experience: I came in looking for an outdoor folding chair I saw online. Unfortunately for me, the chairs I wanted you could only buy in-store. I walk in and I'm immediately met with two girls just standing around doing NOTHING. One is standing behind the register and the other one is leaning on the counter chatting/chilling. I approach them both asking about the chair and "Desery" (she's a little awkward looking) just brushed me off! Responds " you can go look in the camping section" I was very specific with the description of the chair I was looking for and she replied " yes all the beach chairs are over there" I said nothing about a beach chair, but ok. I go over there and LOOKED! It was a mess, chairs EVERY WHERE! I go back to the counter where these two inutile good for nothing employees were and asked for help again since I saw chairs all around the store on the top of the opposite side where she had directed me. This time I showed her a picture she responded "I'll send someone right now." My goodness her and ol' girl were JUST STANDING doing everything possible not to help!! I walk away and kept looking - what do you know?......No one showed up to help. I walk all over the store - nothing! They get a second chance. My husband returned to the store same day and same thing happened to him. We head over to the Big 5 in Cerritos - Big difference, it was night and day! Thanks Big 5 Cerritos and Thank you David! The layout was similar however the store was clean, it was bright and it didn't smell like a library. We were immediately greeted by an employee his name was David. Right when we stepped foot in the store he says " What can I help you with today?" We told him what we were looking for, he responded "right over here" and walked us right over to where it was. Clearly he understands the importance of customer service and how it directly effects the sales as wells as the PROFIT of that store. This employee knows that if you're coming into the store it's because you're buying. This is a specialty store. These 2 need some re-training. They clearly don't understand their role and how their poor attitude and lack of customer service impacts the sales and profit of that store. I'm not one to be a snob when I interact with people who work in retail. I'm your favorite customer. I am someone who loves to shop. Customer Service is about offering an experience, it's engaging. It's an absolute must to have people skills. These 2 don't or they must not want to work there. They should seriously consider applying at the DMV.

This place has false advertisement it states on yelp that it closes at 9:30 on a Friday night but it was closed at 9 o'clock.

I am extremely disappointed in Extreme Training Equipment's response to what was an unacceptable…read moredelivery experience. We paid ETE nearly $500 for shipping. ETE hired the company that would deliver our equipment. We scheduled a noon-2:00 delivery, confirmed it with the delivery company the day before, and took time off work to be home. The morning of delivery, the driver called and asked if we had a forklift. No, we do not own a forklift. He said he would "figure it out." Our delivery window came and went. No delivery. No phone call. Nothing. We finally called after 3:00 and were told the driver had NEVER TAKEN OUR EQUIPMENT FROM THE DEPOT. After working with ETE, delivery was rescheduled for the following day. We rearranged our schedules AGAIN to be home. The next day, they AGAIN failed to load our equipment for delivery. ETE eventually arranged what they called a "rescue delivery." When it finally arrived, they could not get the crated equipment off the truck. Thankfully, we had friends at our home who had planned to help us assemble the equipment. Instead, we spent approximately an hour in the Florida heat and humidity helping unload our own equipment from the delivery truck. So we paid ETE nearly $500 for delivery, took time off work for a confirmed delivery that never left the depot, rearranged our schedules a second day only to have it happen again, and then ultimately provided the labor to help unload our own $500 delivery. Things go wrong. I understand that. What has earned ETE this review is how they responded afterward. ETE's position is essentially that these problems were the fault of the shipping company and that ETE is "at the mercy" of that company and in the same boat as we are. No, we are not in the same boat. I did not select the shipping company. I did not hire the shipping company. I did not pay the shipping company. I paid ETE approximately $500 for delivery. The shipping company is ETE's vendor, not mine. Even more concerning, during this ordeal I was told that delivery is "always a hassle" and that the company being used did not have the necessary lift equipment to properly unload this equipment. That certainly made this experience feel less like an unforeseeable problem. We did not ask ETE to reimburse some or all of our cost for shipping to help offset wages lost. We simply asked them to acknowledge what happened and provide some reasonable customer-care compensation for a delivery service that clearly did not go as promised. They refused. That is the most disappointing part of this entire experience. I can understand a bad delivery. I have a much harder time understanding a company accepting nearly $500 from a customer for delivery and then taking the position that it bears no responsibility for the customer experience because the company it chose to perform the service failed. ETE may not have been driving the truck, but ETE sold us the delivery. Customer service is not demonstrated when everything goes perfectly. It is demonstrated by what a company does when something goes wrong. In our experience, ETE had an opportunity to acknowledge a significant failure and make a reasonable gesture to a customer. They chose not to.
